In this Range Report I try out the Sig P365. This is a micro subcompact 9mm pistols that is built around the most size efficient magazine they could design. For being so small, it carries 10 rounds of 9mm in a flush fit magazine. Normally I do not prefer guns this size, but other reviewers have been giving it high marks. So, what do I think of it? This video documents my personal thoughts, opinions and experiences with this firearm.

Had mine that is the original since 2019 and after over 600 rounds of all kinds of ammo including FMJ/ball, hollow point, brass case, and of those 300 aluminum case its still flawless and accurate. Mine is the manual safety version. I have no complaints. The glow of the day/night tritium sights are comforting at night. It is a small gun so the smaller the gun the harder it is to shoot and as such it requires more practice to stay proficient with it. Like all small guns its drawbacks/limitations are short sight radius, more recoil (but its not that bad with this particular pistol), and the short barrel means less velocity and less muzzle energy. The shooter must understand its limitations. Its not for everyone and its particularly difficult for big handed shooters and you found that out with your particular anatomical problems. Striker or primer drag is no big deal especially with the SIG non-symmetrical or angular MIM firing pins that now eliminate drag all together. I never replaced mine and am not concerned about the drag that happens with even my sub compacts. If the firing pins are produced right and heat treated right or carburized right they won't break. SIG is right, its a non-problem that detractors are trying to make into a problem. You can nit pick the little things that have no bearing on the proper function all you want. With carburization of the parts the wear is also a non-problem. With the durability of modern parts by such treatments as carburizing and nitriding and use of MIM parts the pistol is made to last. Never had a problem with the location of the mag release or the ergonomics. Again, nit picking or anatomical problems. If you don't like the ergos there are other frames you can swap out on the Fire Control Unit. I am done with this nit picking clown show.

Like a good number of us, I jumped on the smaller the better bandwagon. That is until I started training and took some classes from let’s say people with real life experience. All I can tell you is that under stress, real stress, it was almost impossible for me to get a grip and actually perform with such a small gun. So I’ve sold all my micro guns. All of them. Thank you very much for another informative video.

I bought a p365 when they first came out. It was a gun that I really wanted to like. Took a lot of practice to become accurate and proficient with it. That being said. I love the platform now. My early version had an issue with firing pins breaking after about 1,000 rounds. So much so Sig sent me a new complete slide after the second breakage which I picked the fde version. Since then I’ve stepped up to the XL and now the Marco.

Enjoyed the review , I have a P365 and its my primary EDC during the hot summer months , it came optic ready and I mounted a Holosun EPS carry, imho it’s the ideal EDC, 100% reliable and so small I can conceal it in a pocket . I’ve had zero problems. However I did make two changes that imho greatly improved the gun. I installed a gray guns grip module and flat trigger . Feels much better in the hand and the trigger got rid of the excess play in the trigger . Very pleased . I’ll probably never get rid of it. There are other imitations but there’s only one P365

My main carry has been the M&P Shield since they first came out. When the P365 was announced I was very interested. Back then LE/MIL could order over the phone from the Sig store. I got my order in for a P365. It got delayed because when they got the gun, they found the night sights were dead. I finally got it and liked it. Then I started seeing reports of strikers breaking and trigger bar springs breaking. I lost trust, sold it and went back to the Shield. Today I do carry a P365 again, but an XL model. I have had zero issues and it works very well for me. It fits my smaller size hands better than the Shield. I will never get rid of my Shields though. They are proven and run so well.

Those Shields are nice. I think those striker issues were due to striker drag.

I bought mine about a week ago, and I REALLY like it! Over 300 rds in, and it is as comfortable as any gun I've shot and far more so than any of my other pocket pistols, including the Kel-Tec P11 (arguably the first high-capacity sub-compact when it first came out in the late '90s--it also has a serialized fire control module that can be changed among different grips. ADMITTEDLY, the P365 is a far more refined pistol) and PF9 (a single-stack even smaller than the P11, introduced in the '00s) as well as snubbie revolvers.

@@thetexasgunvault Yes, options are wonderful, and I was almost giddy when I first shot my P365! I'm not a great shot, but after decades of long, HEAVY triggers, it seemed I couldn't miss! 😀 Also, the earlier guns tended to sting after a while, but so far the Sig is totally comfortable, even though it's a tiny pocket rocket. 😎

I own a p365 and a p365x. In my opinion they are fantastic guns. If you have small hands like me. Still, I do wish the grip was just a tiny bit wider, to fill my palm. There are many aftermarket frames that will do that. Im thinking the Wilson Combat frame might be just what i need. The ability to change frames and size and capacity is one of its best features.

I am in the same boat. I put a Wilson Combat on my "Orogional" 9mm P365 & a Wilson Combat on my P365X. The difference is night & day. I find it much more easy to controll. Best of luck-God bless. I did go the extra mile and put the weights in the P365 frame. The extra weight is worth it to me.

the whole purpose of this gun is to be as small as possible ( with 10 rounds of 9mm) so saying the grip should/ could be bigger would defeat the purpose of this particular firearm.

My primary CCW Weapons are an Sig P938 9mm and a Kimber Ultra CDP II .45 with Crimson Trace Laser Grips. I finally picked up the P365 CA with the Romeo X optics, not exactly my style but capacity is great. The Romeo X optics are great with the Co-Witnessing of the native optics. Still need a few more trips to the range to get use to the optics over the iron sights, but bench resting, proves to be quite accurate with bench resting. Still miss the 1911 trigger action. Not bad though.

Fooweee on you for not liking the P365 not like the 99.99999% of the guntubers.😂. I do agree with you it's a boring looking gun, but...... For me it's a great shooter in 9mm and 380acp. And the one in 380acp became my cold weather carry rotation bit. Had a bit of history with the 9mm, few times it went to SIG for warranty repairs. Sad to say the early model of mine looked from the inside like it was built by a first year trade school student. Metal chips inside the slide, poor finish. But never gave up on SIG to do thing right once the market was flooded with them and so they did. And in my opinion and yes it's like a belly button, everybody has one. The perfect match up is that size frame to a 380acp caliber. Just waiting for your hated Springfield Armory to come out with a Hellcat in 380acp. Stay safe and well.
