I performed two backups from the target device a month apart, and the second time followed immediately with a recovery directly from the device itself, but was not able to recover ANY deleted texts. Is there a step I'm missing, or is my rec stick defective?

Hi. For clarity, the only difference between utilizing the direct recovery from device is that it takes longer to backup due to reading mp3 files ? Do I need access to the passcode for the direct method? Can I view recovered data from my iPad ? Thanks

Yes, the direct recovery will take longer but get the same data except MP3s. Yes, you need the passcode for the direct method. Keep in mind that in order for the iRecovery Stick to get as much data as possible, the phone should be backed up in iTunes using a password. Enter this password during the recovery so the iRecovery Stick can access all the encrypted data.

If the target phone is being repaired or having battery replaced at an apple store or elsewhere will the be able to see if someone’s set up a back up iTunes? Or if the device has had data recovered?

We are not aware of any way to tell if an iTunes backup has been made of a phone. There is no trace that we are aware of to determine if the iRecovery Stick ans been used on a device.

Does anyone know why a recovery from an encrypted import backup file stops at a percentage, in my case it’s 31% for the last hr and a half almost at a specifc file and won’t progress. Acquiring file var/Health/Health/healthdb_secure.sqlite

I was not given the option to create the itunes backup password. Is there a way to recover that password if one was created several years ago, and I don't know what it is?

You can only create iTunes passwords using iTunes. Unfortunately, there is no way to recover lost iTunes passwords.

Do I need to know the icloud password? An estimated time it will take to access data not using the stick? Will there be any disruption on the target's phone?

No, you don't need the iCloud password but you need to be able to disable the passcode/face ID on the phone. You also need to be able to create an iTunes backup file using a password which can usually be done in under 20 minutes. This gives the iRecovery Stick access to more data. Once you create an iTunes backup, you don't need the phone anymore. There is no disruption on the target phone.
