This video continues with the story of Strongbow and the Norman invasion of Ireland in the late 1100's. Here they used the common European practice of building simple but effective forts to protect the new lands they had conquered, often casting out the native inhabitants from their ancestral lands, using superior military tactics and equipment. This was a pure land grab by the Normans, we need only look to Ukraine to see this practice still carried out to this day. These forts are still visible in the Irish landscape today.
