Don't know if you know this but if you use Cucumber and use part of it on the end of the piece you will use cut the end off and place it on the end that you are going to put back into the fridge. But first rub the two cut ends together. This makes a film that helps stop it from drying out. It has to be a end piece. Don't matter if there is some still showing.

Love the tips! Hate the spiders! Yikes! Also my tip to you for ripe leftover avocado is to take out the ripe slices you don't want to use, put them in a plastic sandwich bag or food saver bag, remove as much air as you can, then throw it in the freezer. When you want to use it, take it out of the freezer and microwave for 30 seconds.

Yikes....pass on that spider! Smart idea with the shoe storage! Thank you for the tip about the avocado storage!!! Congratulations on your week of boondocking!!! Yay! Disclaimer: I am not a professional....but I noticed that after we have done our "business", the black tank numbers will rise but then after a couple of hours, the level will drop back down. So, it depends on when you check your tank levels. Glad you are able to return to regular dishes. We use regular dishes, too. After cleaning all food particles off the dishes with a paper towel, I like to take a soapy sponge and clean each dish. I place the soapy dish/utensil in an empty designated, collapsible bucket. Then, I add boiling water for the rinse into the bucket. I don't completely cover the dishes or fill the bucket, but I place enough boiling water into the container so that I can move the dishes around before taking the dishes out to dry.

HINTS: regarding the showers: if you eat a mainly plant diet (fruit n veggies, some starch minimal meat, little or no dairy) your body becomes very alkaline and exudes very little offensive skin exudites..ie your sweat, pee, poop etc has little or no smell as its very easy for the body to process fruit n veggies, the body works a lot harder to process meat, so showering every day is not necessary. a daily wipe down with a wipe or cloth is sufficient. regarding the dishwashing: some pple use paper plates AND they put a square of parchmnt paper on a plate and then put wet food on it then throw the parchment ppr away so no water used to clean the dish either!

Congratulations on a successful 8 days of Boondocking! You may want to reconsider your solar panel efficiency especially in the winter. There are many system losses (I.e inverter, sun hours per day) The AC will suck power from your batteries very quickly. A soft start will help reduce the power demand when the AC starts.
@IreneIronTravels
@IreneIronTravels 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Neil! Yes, agreed with the less the optimal solar output in the winter. I think we have typically gotten about 1/2 or so of what we get in the summer months. We leave the inverter off unless we need it for a high wattage appliance and have pretty much everything we can converted to DC power. That is why we want to max out the solar we can fit on a small 26ft roof like this RV. 1200 watts is the most Ive been able to calculate ... plus 200 watts ground deploy...for 1400 total.

Hopefully you dont have the same issues we had with our Shark Duo. The main heads go bad after about a year. We had to replace ours 3x in 3 years and it was the most expensive Shark i could find ($469-ish). We bought a dyson after the 3rd one, otherwise it would have been 4. If you have one go bad, don’t buy a replacement, just move on. We like watching your vids, keep it up.

Consider getting a 1kw - 2kw inverter generator. They're tiny, sip fuel, and you can program your victron to limit the current it draws from the generator, allowing you to run your air conditioner. You can program it to pull, say, 1800w from the small generator, and any extra from your batteries. Then when the air conditioner switches off the victron will continue to draw 1800w but charge your batteries instead. Solar is nice but generators are cheap and quick.
@IreneIronTravels
@IreneIronTravels 2 жыл бұрын
Those small inverter gens are pretty nice. We are going to try and go generator(less), but I bet after getting caught in one heat wave we'd change our minds!😂 Thanks Paul!
@PsRohrbaugh
@PsRohrbaugh 2 жыл бұрын
@@IreneIronTravels getting a solid solar system is definitely the best bet long-term. But it's also expensive and time consuming. The generator is quick and cheap. My 3kw generator can run my AC AND charge 75 amps into my batteries at the same time. Since we're heading into winter, a generator might not be necessary. But definitely incentive to get the solar setup done before it gets hot! Your battery bank is so big, with enough solar you could run your AC 24/7, and do Arizona in the summer!

Nicely done ! We boondock in appx same area & to the east East the end of Jan & Feb. in our 27' tt. We really like the area. We've RV'd for years and never had the sensors work accurately after the first few trips on any rig. I carry two 5 gal plastic jerry cans that as we are out and about fill up and add to our tt tank. I have numerous spectacular photo's of the sunsets. We go about ~7-10 days (have done 14 & 16) before needing to dump. Shower every other day, sponge bath on the other. Like your selves, we enjoy the room of the tt & still have a vehicle to go out and about.

Hello Chris and Aaron…it is like work just became a vacation! I am really happy that so many facits (sp?) of your life have before easier, or at least changed for the better. Oh boy….that will be our big test…..how long can we stay out in the rig? I will be happy with 1 week, as long as we don’t have to count amp hours or gallons of water….too much. Another awesome video! Thank you for sharing this week of your first boondocking! I liked the whole video, except for the spider part. I can’t tell you how many times we were walking through the night during training or deployments and I get a spider web in the face, and, you know what resides on the spider web…..bleh! Here we are supposed to be worried about bad guys, and spiders are the real enemy or fear! It is an interesting plot twist for no paper products or solo cups! I like it! And, glad to hear that your water usage included showers most days! I may get some of those baby wipes that are in your store so as to cover the days of no showers. Granted, I won’t be out running. But, if I do anything physical and it is over 50 degrees, I will be sweating at least a little bit, as you know, Remy needs his 3-5 miles daily! Safe travels!

I’ll pass on the spider. In fact I’m not sure I’d be anywhere out there where tarantulas were likely either. YIKES! Love the boondocking tho. We just did our first real b’docking trip last August. We already knew we could last two weeks on our black tank from staying in SPs but for fresh water we bought a 30 gallon water bladder. Worked great! We use a small pump that is operated by a cordless drill & it literally takes 10 minutes to transfer 30 gallons. So much better than 7 gallon jugs. 👍

After seeing that Crab Spider, Aaron was thinking: the Neighbors in the RV Park weren't that bad. I think Chris was a little too excited about RV “Chores”, it may just be the temporary New RV Euphoria. The People back home in Minnesota would like to request that there be No More “Prince” song parodies on the Channel.

😂 Yes, we were checking our shoes after that and even started bringing them inside! You can get a more accurate sensor....I think they are called Sea-Level....but have to look into it more!

Beautiful job on the solar/inverter setup. I have the same trailer and I'm about to install my inverter. How did you run your cables for the inverter to the AC panel? Under the coroplast?
@IreneIronTravels
@IreneIronTravels 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, went under the coroplast on the driver side and then up under the floor of the refrigerator. It took a couple days to find the perfect route, but was pretty easy after that.
@CharlesAnsman
@CharlesAnsman 2 жыл бұрын
How much hours of driving did it take to recharge your battery bank to 100% ?
@IreneIronTravels
@IreneIronTravels 2 жыл бұрын
Our current 7pin setup only charges at 5 amps per hour, so it would take 125 hours of driving to charge back up the 810 amps from the 30% we were at! Even if we had a 30 amp DC to DC charger (most common) it would have still taken over 20 hours of driving. That is why we talk about solar on the roof and are looking at 1200 watts or up to 80 amps per hour at full sun. We went to an RV part where our 120 amp Victron inverter/charger still took around 6 hours to charge back up that big bank of batteries!!

I can't wait to see the solar install. Are they going to be tiltable? It makes a huge difference in winter. I'm so glad you didn't kill the spider.
@IreneIronTravels
@IreneIronTravels 2 жыл бұрын
Tiltables would be really cool for sure. Might not go that way as our system is oversized and we should have plenty of power with 810 lithium amps and 1200 watts of solar......but that would help a ton in the winter time for sure!

8 days of boon-docking with 70 gallons of fresh water…impressive. Not sure how you guys did it but great job. Heck, when we are in a campground with full hook-ups, we can’t go more than 2-3 days before emptying our grey water tanks. I guess when your boon-docking, you can’t store more waste water than you have in fresh.
