Inside an Alco 3100HP WDM3A diesel locomotive leading the Rajdhani Express in SHF mode, enjoy the chugging, notching up sound, honkings, flag exchange signals at passing by stations and finally the dynamic brake applied by loco pilot of WDM3A loco.

In 1963, chilean state railways bought 10 Alco RSD _ 34 locomotives. Their gauge is the same as in India, 1676 mm. All 10 are still working hauling freight trains Rough and dependable engines. Salutes ti Indian Railways trainmen! Nice video.

This is the first right hand driven engine I have ever seen in Indian Railways. All the other engines I have come across are left hand drive. I love ALCOs a lot in all loco categories!!

Yeah, they imported them with almost no changes, except the basic layout of the controls. The US version has fewer things in front of the LP and has the controls on the side in a vertical stack, the Dynamic Brake (engine brake) and Throttle are on different levers i think, etc... Our altered setup was to make it more suitable for 2 pilot operations.

Nowadays these ALCO locomotives are less active due to EMD locomotives which have replaced them mostly but here this one is pulling rajdhani coaches, perhaps quite uncommon.

At any rate, the loco pilot will not be held responsible if some random moron walks into the tracks and gets hit. But yes, if it is something similarly large, say another train or a massive tree that has fallen, it will cause serious concerns. I'm glad the new EMD versions have direct cabs
