I bought this axe to complete my set of irons and seriously, there's no going back. A+ for the ironfox

Thanks Matt for the excellent review of the Iron Fox axe. Please do a video on the proper type of knife to carry in your gear. God Bless

+jonathan bosco Thanks, I will definitely look into doing that. I would probably expand that to a "what to carry in your pockets" video. I have carried a particular knife/tool for a long time that I do like a lot.

Love the point tip on the top edge .excellent idea,and close to a more standard axe than other axes I've seen.what would be sweet is if the top of the axe head had a heavy duty flat piece that stuck out a couple of inches for thrusting and prying but not so long that it gets In the way of swinging it.just in case you lose your pry bar.

How would you compare this to Fire Axe Inc? Their axes also are made with better steel, and I have not seen any mushrooming with their axes. I'm looking to get my own axe, and it is down to these two. Thanks

The iron fox pick head or the pig?

I have had an immense amount of work done quicker with our Iron Fox with a pairing of a wide adze forged halligan than I have with anything short of a chainsaw. Flat head is my axe of choice, but for the roof, a pick is great to create a quick step or anchor. Beefy enough to do the job, and the way the head is shaped, it is far less likely to get stuck. Plaster and lathe walls just disappear with this tool where a normal axe has struggled (for me). Top marks from me, though I have yet to compare it to something like the Pig.

Hey Matt how would you compare this vs the pig?
@Boxalarmtraining
@Boxalarmtraining 4 жыл бұрын
In my opinion the Pig is better for Forcible Entry operations but the Iron Fox is better for roof work.

what would you rate this tool
@Boxalarmtraining
@Boxalarmtraining 8 жыл бұрын
It would be hard to put a general rating on the tool. If you are talking about it's design intent and build quality, it is outstanding. However, this tool will not do the same thing as a Halligan, and vice versa, so it is hard to rate it compared to other tools. It definitely out performs a standard fire axe.

Matt Hinkle how would you compare it with the "badaxx"?.

@@Rangerfan-gz1rx - I HATE the handle on the badaxx. I prefer a standard handle.

All quality axes are made from tool steel. The reason the poll (flat head) mushrooms is because they’re typically not hardened to use for striking. The Iron Fox axe probably is.

You'll never see particleboard used as a roof underlayment by me. Regular plywood 1/2" to 3/4" thick all day.

I was thinking the same....all these videos of these axes blasting apart chip board....why not plywood 🤔

Though my fire axe is still my ultimate favorite. The only thing better is an old Seagrave.

That's what i'm saying we need something to bust down doors, use as a sledge hammer, and break through shingles and plywood in as few strokes as possible 7 pounds isn't bad for a tool designed to do all that.
