In this video, I discuss how the dumbbells have held up over multiple years of usage (very well), how the quick locks and plates are interchangeable with the Ironmaster adjustable kettlebell, how they hold up to slamming, and how they can also double as a poor man's IronMind pinch grip hub.
Product details I may have left out (from Ironmaster.com):
Quick-Lock handle design lets you add or remove plates with just a partial turn of the locking screws! US Patent 7,182,716
Adjust from 5-75 lbs each in 2.5 lb increments in just seconds. (75 lbs each dumbell = 150 lbs total)
Set includes two handles with four locking screws, 24 ea. 5 lb plates and 4 ea. 2.5 lb plates. Handles weigh 5 lbs empty and each locking screw weighs 2.5 lbs so the starting weight is 10 lbs each adjustable dumbbell before plates are added. 65 lbs of plates can be loaded on each handle.
The included Stand is very strong and compact. Dimensions are just 14.5″ wide x 19″ deep x 26″ high with rubber leveling feet. The Stand will also hold the 120 lb Add on Kit.
These adjustable dumbbells lock up tight with no rattling or looseness. They feel just like traditional fixed weight dumbbells and are not restrictive in the ways you can grip them.
Chrome plated steel handles with knurled grips.

Add-on kit available to go up to 120 lbs each adjustable dumbbell or even a custom Add-on-kit to 165 lbs.
Dumbbell dimensions are just 6.7″ square x 14.5″ long at the 75lb size and just 9″ long at 20lbs size. Handle grip diameter is 1.25″ and there is 6.5″ grip width inside.
The weight plates are marked in both LBS and KGS.

Ironmaster adjustable dumbbells are the best, period. Built like a tank and will last forever. I got mine used many years ago and they had a little wear and tear on them. This past summer, I took all the weights to the garage, wirebrushed them, and spray painted them black. They look better than new now! I've told my wife, if I ever come home from work and the house is on fire, I'm running in to get her and the kids. Then when they are safe, I'm running back in to get my Ironmaster dumbbells.

Still digging them here. They snag every now and then on the screw in process, but it's minimal inconvenience when you consider how bulletproof they are. I think you'll love them.

I have powerblocks up to 50lbs and wanna get the sports grip to use with heavier dumbells. I don't think the pro grip works with powerblocks. Anyways I was thinking about keeping my powerblocks to use them for hitt workouts and buying ironmasters to use heavier weight 50 and up and to use them with the sports grip system since I have shoulder pain. What would be the cheapest way to but the ironmaster that goes from 50lbs and up?? By the way I already have the ironmaster adjustable kettlebell up to 57lbs. It sucks that powerblocks most likely don't work with sports grip spotter systwm

Good review. Funny I've been out of weight lifting for about 10 years now and have never used anything but free weights that I used for 40 years and durability was never a question. Steel bars and steel weights. Nothing ever broke. Sold everything when I sold the house now I need something space saving. Thanks.

Thanks man. Yeh, you never know what you're gonna get these days. I was working out in a high school weight room last week, and saw a old, red-tinted cambered barbell in the corner...thought it was pretty cool until I realized it was just an old, bent piece of crap :)

Never used them, but I'm a fan of spinlocks for security, and I love than they can go up to 200 lbs. Looks pretty legit. Thanks for bringing them to my attention!

I have the original iron master dumbbells purchased about 12 years ago. They will out last your/my lifetime. Put them in your will. You will break before they do.

These look much nicer than other adjustable dbs... I decided to just buy rubber hex and add as I go... Though it's definitely not the most economical way of getting dbs.

Of all the dumbbells I've used, I probably prefer rubber hex, but with price and space concerns, these were top choice for me. They're truly as solid as they look

good video, friend. in 2008 on my way to a submission wrestling tournament i was in, i found a guy with the bench, the stand, the dip bar, and the crunch attachment. used once. sold it to me for $200 because he was going to Vegas. it all fit into the back of my police interceptor. I've since bought the 120lb add on kit. it hurt my soul to pay retail price.

One huge downside to these might be if the weights have a smaller hole than 30 mm, becasue them you can't use them in any other bar you have. One big reason why I like the original spin lock adjustable dumbbells is becasue I can use the same wights on my straight bar also. With these you might need to buy the weights to times since you need separate weights for your straight bar.

Haha great review and genuinely a funny dude. I have both the ironmaster and the powerblock u90s. The convenience goes to powerblock and for that I use them more often. But the ironmasters are a beautiful piece of hardware like a classic muscle car. The build quality and balance goes to ironmaster for sure.

Not yet, however, I do occasionally have issues getting it in or out (cue Michael Scott). That said, I rarely do anything for maintenance, and I dropped 120 lbs from the top of a power rack one time to test the durability...probably not the best move because it might have something to do with the occasional stubborness.

When it comes to up to 50lb adjustable dumbbells I think that core fitness ones did it best. They're the quickest to change, the shortest width and aren't plastic like bowflex.

I have both used sold Bowflex, ironmaster, powerblock, Corefitness and regular spin lock adj dumbbells. by far the core fitness ones are not worth the money. if they were 100 bux then fine but if you are talking about the ones that have the spinning handle? they are garbage.

@@sethrich5998 Ironmasters are by far the best fitting and feel solid like a cast iron dumbbell. they can go up to 165lbs on each handle with the extended spindles. right behind them is the powerblocks. Just like the ironmasters no mechanical parts to break and are good and solid.

Everyone who is serious knows. Ironmaster is arguably the best out there. The only downside is it isnt instant weight change so supersets arent that easily achieved. However, if you have powerblocks and these then i 100% know you what you are doing in life.

This video is great, but you didn't show the process to exchange the plates. Crucial for a review. I'm sure it's seamless, but I would have liked to see you do it in the video. Now I am going to look up another video that shows this. Just some friendly tips for your future vids. Your charisma is great though, I'll even throw you a sub.

Hey James, thanks for the feedback (and the sub!). You're totally right--i didn't show how to change plates...I showed the quick lock process at around 1:30, but not the plate change. I agree, it would have been helpful. My apologies. In my reviews, I try to point out things that aren't necessarily covered in others' reviews of the same product, and in the process, I often forget to highlight very fundamental elements (like showing how an adjustable dumbbell adjusts). I also improvise most of my videos because I suck at reading from a script, and I'm too lazy to edit. This gives me the easy going charisma you mentioned (thanks again!), But I make a lot of dumb mistakes as a trade-off. Anyway, I'm always looking to get better. I appreciate the critique, and will try to be a little more thoughtful going forward. Thanks again!

I don’t see why spend all the money on these when u can go traditional loadable dumbbells for a fraction of the price, it take just as long to load , I have fixed up to 40lbs, then I have loadable up to 95lbs, without breaking the bank

Fair argument. A nice set of spinlocks will get you far. I got these for what I consider a good deal (I think 600). I wanted something my clients could use without complaining about the bar digging into the legs...maybe there's an end cap you can add to them...haven't looked into it though since I have these

Very rarely. Honestly, I know I have a problem in that arena. I started adding TLDW segments to the beginning of my videos last week, so I can get the point out of the way early on, just in case I forget to ever get to it. I disagree. It's a very good game, but I think Donkey Kong is better. Sorry... That Billy Madison scene came to mind. Power blocks destroy ironmaster in quickness of adjustment--no contest. That said, I love the feel and the durability of these. I'm sure id grow to love powerblocks if I had a set, but these were the ones I found cheap on Facebook marketplace (ironically while looking for a commercial powerblock set). No regrets, brah. Powerblocks just the name gives off a lego land feeling lol. You can have your metal/plastic POS. Just make sure you dont accidentally drop them cuz they will brake like legos.
