Yeah because they ARE "independent" in a lot of ways. Pretty sure the only restrictions they have is to not throw shade at the company and other talents through their words and actions and to not disclose sensitive information. Apart from that, they can do what they want. They're not treated like children like in Hololive or Nijisanji. "Oh nono. Baby...showing your hands on stream? That's way too dangerous, little one! Let me correct that by banning you from doing it. Oh, you want to explore horror content, create some kind of anolog horror series around your persona? No no no, some people might be upset about that! Silly little fellow! Collabs with people on the outside? Sure! Let me just control every aspect of that collab, delay it by months and shut it down if there's anything in it I don't approve of!" I can't understand how people are okay with this bullshit and even defend it. It is an absoulutely attrocious mistreatment of creative minds.

Also take into account that Vshoujo is an American agency where influencers work, which already makes it VERY different from Hololive, which is a Japanese idol agency, and derived from a larger company. Also, although I adore the Vshoujo girls, neither they nor the Nijisanji can compare their scale to that of Hololive, which can have a very demanding environment, but it has worked for them.

@@guilguis4820 while you are not wrong you are missing the point they are trying to make. They are putting forth the reason that is even on their website in the first place is because the company started as a bunch of indies coming together rather then a company auditioning talents for things the company developed. While they were not all indies at the start it would have been weird for say Iron mouse to get her IP while Froot didn't, and there is no way Ironmouse and the other indies joined without the clause.

Shes right. One of the biggest reasons for a companies, especially an entertainment compony, success and CONTINUED success is keeping their workers happy. A happy worker who feels appreciated and listened to will be FAR more productive than a beaten down drone. You get a lot more out of someone motivated, as opposed to someone just going through the motions and, again, that goes ten times over for a creative industry. Passion is vitally important for a creative endeavor and you dont get passion by wrapping your talents up in red tape and rules. A certain amount is necessary, its still a business, but keeping that flame of passion alive is far more important.

At least Vshojo is on the ball and has people who have experience in streaming (literately people who used to work for Twitch.) The problem is always the long-tail problem, where ad revenue is finite, and always going downwards, and growth is not infinite and eventually plateaus. At some point, all ad-supported content has to switch to membership-only or pivot to merch-supported only, because ad revenue always declines. Ads chase trends, and if you're not a trend, you only get the kinds of scammy ads people block with extreme prejudice. To put it another way, If you aren't regularly seeing ads from McDonalds, Coca Cola and Ford, your content is not brand safe enough, and your revenue from ad revenue should not be your main income. This is why Vshojo has to have a merch strategy.

@@TenshiKisaiI mean most Twitch Streamers make more money from Memberships and Bits. Not to mention, Matara DID push their mech heavily in her Debut Stream. So there's that too. I mean the thing is, Iron Mouse is the Face of VShoujo. We don't know what will happen if/when she dies, assuming that VShoujo is even still around at that point. If VShoujo doesn't have a Replacement Face, I think THAT could be a real issue. We also don't know what Society or The Internet will be like in 20-30+ Years. VTubing wasn't even a thing 10 years ago, and VR hadn't caught on either. Not only that, but we don't know what members will Join/Leave in even 10 years time. We could have DOUBLE the VTubers at VShoujo. They could be expanding into other countries in 10-15 years! Iron Mouse understands this, as she's already seen VShoujo change a lot just in the past year. She would have seen The Internet change significantly in the past 10 years, with regards to Streaming & the Rise of VTubers. There's no way she can predict what will happen in 10 years with VShoujo OR The Internet. I don't think ANYONE can. Hell in 10 years Niji might end up collapsing in on itself, and ALL their VTubers flee to HoloLive & VShoujo for all we know!

Niji is publicly traded, right? That means their company exists to make money for shareholders. Any publicly traded company is good for shareholders and the people at the top and exponentially less supportive for everybody else. Whether you want to call that bad or not depends on how you define it. There are plenty of bosses that hire new people, give them free snacks, flexible hours and a company car, but once somebody talks about adult stuff, like wanting private health care, a retirement plan, child care leave, daycare, sick days, or progressive yearly wage increases, suddenly they drop all the "competitive pay, motivated individuals, star employees" talk and jump on how worthless you are and can be replaced by somebody off the street within a week.

When Projekt Melody first started VShojo, it was a collaborative effort between her and founding member of the Twitch team, Justin (theGunrun) Ignacio. She was doing a stream and Gunrun messaged her saying he'd love to help any way he could. She looked into him, because of course she's met a lot of people with ulterior motives in her life, and saw he was legit. To quote Melody "finally, an adult!" At the time, Melody was doing the Lewdcast podcast/KZfaq show with Silvervale and Iron Mouse, where they would invite guests to have conversations with, such as CdawgVA, Shibuya Kaho, Nyanners, Zentreya and a few others. Melody pitched the idea of forming a group with her friends and later that year they announced it. VShojo is different, because unlike other agencies where managers go out hunting for talent to make money off of, Melody and the others hired their managers to take care of various duties. The management team is working for the talent, rather than the other way around; it's a collaborative effort which either party is free to break ties. VShojo does not do generational groups. As Mouse once said, everybody in VShojo is a friend. They get to talk to each other, do collabs, and generally be themselves without any managerial restrictions and strategies based on performance. For this reason, all members of VShojo are socially connected and tend to have good chemistry on stream. They are friends on and off stream. There was a time when VShojo attempted to open up public auditions, but this opportunity was tainted with controversy as bad actors used the event for malicious intent. Ever since, Iron Mouse has stopped doing community showcases. That may however be a coincidence as her daily life has become more busy with professional responsibilities and content making projects she's not allowed to talk about. There is a pattern when there is a new member about to be announced, for deducing who that new member might be: 1) A new person will become a regular guest on streams, or the founding member will become a guest in streams the new person is in. 2) This new person will be friends with one of the founding members in some way. 3) The new person is likely an indie vtuber or becoming one. Examples: Vei went on stream dates with a couple of the members before she joined. Kson was a regular guest on Trash Taste, which Iron Mouse was also a guest for. Haruka has been a staple guest for years. Henya's previous identity had been on Iron Mouse's talk show, Speak of the Devil, as well as later collabs with her and again with Zentreya. Regardless of what anybody thinks is the logic, VShojo only lets friends join the talent side. Management will help set the friends up in the team, but it's the talent that finds new members. However, because of various forms of harassment, some VShojo member have delegated to the management team the burden of checking business emails, and if anybody tries to beg for an audition in chat it would likely violate set rules regarding self promotion or impromptu discussion of other streamers and would end up in an immediate ban. So if you want to join VShojo, don't try to join VShojo. Of course, I've never seen their contracts and don't know what goes on behind the scenes. The official VShojo website does not provide answers for questions such as how somebody becomes a member or what the roles and responsibilities of the management team are. These are only my observations.

I'm always confused by the methodology of corrupt companies. How do they expect to make money if their main source of income is unhappy. Whether it's insulting or scamming their customers or mistreating and disrespecting their employees. They lower morale to rock bottom through a constant cycle of abuse, and for what? Don't say it's for money, because if they had treated them right from the start, money wouldn't have been a problem. All they do is give themselves a reason to end their career. Something will get out, people will find out, no one will want to talk to you, no one will want to remember you. Your source of income goes down the drain, they seize your assets, and you live in isolation. It's so unbelievably frustrating to see, so it's nice to know there's at least someone doing it right.

Anybody who's ever worked a job in their life for at least 2 or so years should know. Loyalty isn't worth anything. A talent should approach their career with a business mindset. And fans should educate themselves and respect those decisions. Unless you're Pokimane who's literally scamming people and telling you you're poor for not wanting to buy scam cookies. Why retirement, though? Swapping jobs is something completely normal in many fields, especially IT-related. They also continue vtubing instead doing something else (like RL content or just a normal job). It's more like switching characters in a rpg - you are not retiring from playing the game, you just play a different class, join a different guild, etc. Tbh, joining corpo and using their name and resources to gain audience and then switching to vshojo to be free to do whatever you want sound like a well-thought plan if you ask me (disregarding the fact that it's not easy to become corpo vtuber...).

@@antinoticeit would be a solid plan, if it didn't mean taking a solid hit to your income, in most cases. Most of the previously corporate hires aren't making anything close to what they were. Doesn't necessarily mean it was a bad call for them personally. Nina wasn't comfortable with the hectic pace of corpo, so she'll likely be much happier in Vshojo. But to say it's a good plan in general is just not true.
