Jesus, I’m used to SEEING short people but seeing 5’3” in text just does not seem real to me for an adult (I’m 6’3”). I know I’m big, but I usually think of “short” as something like 5’8” or 5’6”. Not that that’s even a bad thing - my mind is permanently stuck in the “smaller is cuter” mindset anyway.

I wasn’t expecting to relate to this as a 6’7” person, but I really appreciate the exasperation at everything being the wrong size for Mouse. Most “waist high” things are around knee/thigh height for me, and my spine looks like a question mark from all the slouching I do just to reach anything lower to the ground. I’m almost jealous of Mouse, because the idea of getting to stretch upwards all day to reach stuff (instead of my hands smacking the ceiling) fills my spinal column with hope. /hj

This has made me think of something I have theorized about before. I am under the impression that the proportions designers use to make furniture in first person games make the player feel smaller than they actually are, for readability. Table tops, lips, etc are thinner in real life, but that thinness looks weird when rendered without higher fidelity graphics. So it’s not just the height of the POV relative to the total height of the furniture, but also the POV relative to the individual components, and since those components are stretched, the player feels even smaller than their eye level would make them.

Dude I'm 5'2" and I lived in an apartment that was custom built for a guy that was like at least 6'9", it was awful, I literally couldn't reach anything. The countertops came up to my armpits. I needed a step stool to reach the microwave. You would have loved it!

puerto rico isnt in asia, its in Carribbean. Also as i was unsure of its height as its not part of mainland usa, i looked it up for you, average height is about 161 cm or 5feet 3 in for women. Just as note asia has the shortest people so its not surprising their tables are smaller.
