In today's episode, Becket interviews Eric Metaxas about his new book "Is Atheism Dead?" Eric discusses how the fine-tuning of the universe and the Big Bang point to God. He also goes into exciting archaeological evidence that supports the historical reliability of the Bible. Eric also reveals the surprising stories of famous atheists, Sartre and Camus, who came to faith at the end of their lives because of the overwhelming evidence of a Creator. Make sure to pre-order this groundbreaking book by one of the best-selling Christian authors of our time. Your mind will be blown!

ABOUT BECKET:
Becket Cook was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory
School of Dallas. After graduating from Austin College in Texas, Becket moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of writing and acting, finding success in both. He eventually went on to become a production designer working with the top photographers and directors in the world on fashion shoots for magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and for ad campaigns such as Gap, L'Oréal Paris, and Nike.
Finding a new sense of freedom in L.A., Becket also fully engaged in his new life as a gay man. He had a series of many relationships with men throughout the next fifteen years.
In September of 2009, Becket met a stranger at a coffee shop in Silver Lake who invited him to his church in Hollywood called Reality L.A. Becket reluctantly agreed to attend the service. After hearing the sermon that Sunday, Becket was utterly transformed by the gospel and gave his life to Christ. He also knew on that day when God revealed Himself to him that homosexuality was a sin and that he could no longer live that life. Becket was more than happy to count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus his Lord.
Becket spends much of his time in ministry speaking at churches, universities, and conferences helping believers (and non-believers) understand this issue biblically, theologically, culturally, and personally. Balancing grace and truth when teaching on this subject is of primary importance. His goal is to challenge the current cultural narrative about sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular by demonstrating through his personal testimony and biblical truths that, yes, homosexuality is still a sin, and that following Christ is infinitely more satisfying and joyous.
He has lived all over the world in major cities such as Rome, Vienna, and Tokyo.
Becket graduated from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University in 2017 with a Master of Arts in Theology.
Becket’s book, A Change of Affection: A Gay Man’s Incredible Story of Redemption, with a
foreword by Francis Chan, published by Thomas Nelson, released July 30, 2019.

Listening to you, Beckett, makes me happy. Maybe because it's clear that you are happy. A reason I was 'Christianity hesitant' was because the Christians I encountered were clearly unhappy, & just radiated negativity. I didn't want to be like that. When I came accross Christians that, like you, radiated joy, that was when I started to pay attention. If anyone can bring people into the fold its you because you don't just share the Word, you really live it & it shows.

True joy, unlike the world knows is definitely a part of the life of following Christ closely; however, I just felt like sharing with you that it’s also true that Christians will face a lot of pain, and suffering in their lives. I haven’t really experienced a lot of it in my life as a Christian, and have struggled to understand fellow Christians who don’t often have that joy; however, I have a friend who used to be a missionary, a man that is so kind, who has started to experience chronic pain that has been going on for about half a year. It has really changed life for him as he can’t even sit down for more than 15 mins. He told me that he clings to the Psalms-the expression of people going through agony and suffering, while finding hope in the LORD. I don’t share this to make your faith weaker, but to make it stronger. I too was so attracted to the life that some Christians possessed. I’m just sharing this to let you know that the life of Jesus doesn’t always mean happy, so that you won’t feel confused in the future if you go through really hard seasons. Please pray for my friend, that he can be healed and head back to the mission field with his wife! And God bless you!

@@Journey_Around thank you so much for taking the time to share your kind and illuminating words. I fully appreciate what you are saying. I am happy to report that as soon as I decided to follow Christ much of the pain in my life left me. Of course there will be more but I now have His strength to sustain me. I am genuinely sorry to hear about your friend and will be sure to include him in my prayers and ask that others do also. I have some physical pain too and appreciate you mentioning looking to the Psalms for comfort as your friend does. I will be sure to try that and pray for your friend to find relief. I am grateful to you for brightening my day with your thoughtful comments.

@@John-sk8cm And thank you for your reply; this has really blessed me! In regards to my friend, he has expressed to me that even though he is a father, and a husband, that at times, he just feels like he can't bear the pain any longer, and so I imagine his "clinging" to the Psalms is something unlike what I've ever experienced. It sounds weird to say this, but hearing him share what it is been has also helped me to make more sense of some of the things we see written in the Psalms, and helps me to just think even more highly of God's Word, because it really is full of help and comfort for all of the things we face in life.

I also think that atheism is “dead” because of new age becoming so popular with the youth… it’s sickens me, that people are using spirituality derived from dark sources (if you know what I mean) rather than HOLY spiritual gifts and walking with God. There are more young people realizing that the spiritual world is real but through the dark side that can have serious consequences. Other than that, I’m glad that the new age has also woke people up, because some of them are turning to Christ after experiencing the consequences of dark and Godless spirituality

Atheism is not dead, but it's a dead religion, yet it appears to be shifting into a type of newage spirituality. Which is not healthy for the people seeking mysticism, God said , , seek and ye shall find. If you open the wrong pathways into the spiritual realm what you find can destroy humankind. God said only He is our Salvation.

Ever since *Anthony Flew* - the greatest atheist philosopher in the analytic philosophy of the 20th century - ACCEPTED GOD in the 21st century (see the book "There is a god"), that took out a great deal of thunder out of (intellectual) atheism in analytic philosophy. Additionally, *Jean-Paul Satre* and *Albert Camus* - two titans of atheism - also ACCEPTED GOD (as Metaxes has said numerous times in this video). This is serious blows to atheism. Alvin Plantinga and his contributions to theistic analytic philosophy have also been crucial to the decline of (intellectual) atheism in analytic philosophy.

An episode with the two of you never disappoints!! Maybe Eric can be your most frequent, regular guest. AND DANG, can't watch an episode without adding to my book list 😀 Sounds like compelling & convincing evidence for God! YAY. (shameless plug - another great book right now is J Warner Wallace's 'Person of Interest', was thinking of it during this show b/c he lists how many of history's Scientists were CHRISTIANS. A VAST amount of them!) Great show, thank you guys! GOD BLESS💗

Alexander Gleason was a Christian scientist! I don't believe in God, I'm 100% certain of his existence!

I dont think most people have a problem with the existence of God but more so with Christ and who He is..

I'd go a step further and say it is with the people who claim to be His followers yet spew hatred with every word they say

Wonderful show as always BC! BTW: re Eric Metaxas, if you have never heard his program with Pat Boone and the death-bed conversion of Rock Hudson, you absolutely must! If you cannot find this particular episode, try to contact Pat for an interview, which will definitely spellbind your audience! I have listened to Eric for years, and this program was among his top-five all-time best (a proverbial jaw-dropper). This story is little known (like other last minute conversions to Christ, which Metaxas has mentioned), but needs to gain greater exposure via your far-reaching channel Becket!

Big Bang theory sharing Christ: Years ago, part of what I'd come across & shared was scientists beginning to believe 'big bang theory'; which pointed very much to a Creator. Read from a track, I passed it on. NOW it's embraced, even named a tv show after it! Yet.... PS nice banter! 'what year was that?' '1700 BC is when..' ' 'I mean what year did he Discover it?' A little funny banter with Becket & guest.
