ABOUT BECKET:
Becket Cook was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory
School of Dallas. After graduating from Austin College in Texas, Becket moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of writing and acting, finding success in both. He eventually went on to become a production designer working with the top photographers and directors in the world on fashion shoots for magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and for ad campaigns such as Gap, L'Oréal Paris, and Nike.
Finding a new sense of freedom in L.A., Becket also fully engaged in his new life as a gay man. He had a series of many relationships with men throughout the next fifteen years.
In September of 2009, Becket met a stranger at a coffee shop in Silver Lake who invited him to his church in Hollywood called Reality L.A. Becket reluctantly agreed to attend the service. After hearing the sermon that Sunday, Becket was utterly transformed by the gospel and gave his life to Christ. He also knew on that day when God revealed Himself to him that homosexuality was a sin and that he could no longer live that life. Becket was more than happy to count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus his Lord.
Becket spends much of his time in ministry speaking at churches, universities, and conferences helping believers (and non-believers) understand this issue biblically, theologically, culturally, and personally. Balancing grace and truth when teaching on this subject is of primary importance. His goal is to challenge the current cultural narrative about sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular by demonstrating through his personal testimony and biblical truths that, yes, homosexuality is still a sin, and that following Christ is infinitely more satisfying and joyous.
He has lived all over the world in major cities such as Rome, Vienna, and Tokyo.
Becket graduated from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University in 2017 with a Master of Arts in Theology.
Becket’s book, A Change of Affection: A Gay Man’s Incredible Story of Redemption, with a
foreword by Francis Chan, published by Thomas Nelson, released July 30, 2019.

JP MORELANDS gift of speaking about Jesus is the reason my atheist daughter is now in heaven after she passed away from a tragic accident at 19. He was the first person that made sense to a HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT THAT WAS BRILLIANT. I was able to share this story with him after a message at the Vineyard many years ago. He was so attentive and emotionally moved with so much empathy. What a true heart for God…Bless you for having him on your show Becket!

So many good insights! My father was a pastor in the underground church in the Soviet Union. Christians (and worldlings) were desperate over so many things, but God was always there with his all-sufficient power for those who called on Him. Miracles happened. While that was a horrible time for many people, God's power shone brightly and unmistakably. It's hard for Christians in developed, affluent nations to believe stories about miracles or to believe that they are FOR THEM also. The dynamics in this conversation are fascinating. I'm reading the book. Thank you!

Years ago when I was married, my husband had been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. He had suffered many years with the affects of this condition, and had been on many medications. He went to a Promise Keepers conference soon after coming to Christ. He came home and said, God spoke to him, and said He healed him of his condition. Up to this point, he said he never heard from God. He had an appointment already set for a biopsy. The doctor told me the appt will take a few hours, as they expect to find polyps and will have to biopsy them. I left, and within 30 minutes, i received a call to come back. The doctor said they found nothing. He said, it was as if he never had Colitis! That was truly a miracle!

This interview had me balling my eyes out and Worshiping the Lord Jesus! I had an encounter years ago with an angel and have since questioned it’s validity. I remember it so clearly and I was filled with hope, peace and faith after the encounter. I am pre-ordering this book! I cannot wait. I have also been questioning how we hear from God and other supernatural things because I grew up in a Cult where they abused the Gifts and such. I became a skeptic and critic of anything related to supernatural. Still a believer and saved but my hope is now renewed and God has used this interview to build my faith anew❤️❤️❤️ Thank you Beckett!! Also, my husband is a saved and delivered “ex-gay “ SSA. Your story has been such an inspiration to us!

I believe in miracles, but for some reason, I'm haven't been totally healed. My disabilities keep me focused on our Lord, dependent on Him, and they are part of my testimony. I do often wish I can be 100 percent healed, but the answer continues to be no. I do believe anything is possible and will continue to pray for and have faith in miracle healings.

I love Beckets testimony and most of his interviews a great blessing to me, but... this video we must watch with caution I believe becUse although God can and continues to do miracles if He pleases, the Gospel's goal is not our earthly wellness or comfort, but our salvation. I have been on both sides of the spectrum, I was a Continuist and now a Cessasionist, not because I have never received any miracles from God, but because I started to focus more in the Gospel. Even though I believe God can and performs miracles today it is not the norm nor we should live our lives entertained and focused on signs and wonders, but on the word. Please... do not drift your attention nor desires to experience sings and wonders...the greatest miracle that we could ever experience is our Salvation, transformatiin and Sanctificatiin. God Bless you Mr. BECKET.. I will continue to pray for you and thank God for His work in you!

I definitely believe and have seen God’s providential hand do incredible things in my life and others! I do think however we need to be very careful with those who manipulate people to desire and obsess over miracles like Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, etc claiming to perform miracles and take vulnerable people’s money. The reformers hated the manipulating of the weak and suffering with mystic ideas by the Catholic Church. Costi Hinn (Benny Hinn’s son) is incredible and has great insight on this - you should have him as a guest Beckett! I do look for God’s hand moving each day and have many stories but I always test things with scripture… if they do not line up then I’m careful because satan disguises himself as an angel of light and his demons do the same. If it pulls us away from the Gospel and our call to pick up our cross, to be sanctified, and join in Christ’s sufferings… then I have concerns. Many people who are obsessed with miracles have little to no desire to die to self, repent, and to follow Jesus… but rather they see Him as a vending machine. True miracles are God’s Providence for His child and that is a wonderful pure incredible thing indeed! ❤️

My favorite Fleetwood Mac song; 'You Make Loving Fun', from their 'Rumours' album. There's a line in the song that goes: "I never believed in miracles, but I've a feeling it's time to try". The first time I ever heard this song, I was sitting next to Herbie Worthington. He was the photographer for Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks. He did the 'Rumours' album cover, photos and design. Herbie used to go around dressed in a robe and sandals. He looked like Jesus. He died tragically though, years later. I was living in Rockland County, NY, at the time; about a mile down the road from Studio 914, where Bruce Springsteen recorded the song-'Born To Run'. At the time also, I knew a man named Artie who was a successful songwriter. One day, I was sitting at the table with Artie and Herbie, and I asked Artie what was his favorite rendition of his songs; and he said: The Grateful Dead's version of it. It's on their ''Shakedown Street" album; the opening song of which is entitled-"I Need A Miracle". In this instance, Artie's song was-'Good Loving'; some of you maybe more familiar with the Young Rascals version of it. When Artie was in the process of writing this song (during a rewrite of it), Neil Diamond was in his presence at the time. He was working on a song entitled-"I'm A Believer". (smile).

Thanks, Becket. Herbie Worthington: He died a few years back, after Stevie Nicks banished him from her life. They found him soon after in his apartment: His heart had stopped. Soon after that, Stevie Nicks appeared on an episode of 'American Horror Story', whereupon she sang-'Has Anyone Ever Written Any For You?'-to Jessica Lange. Becket, didn't you once say that you knew the guy who wrote and produced that show? Poor Herbie: It's not enough that he looked like Jesus. In order to be saved, you've got to have Jesus in your heart! Amen.

It's fascinating to hear JP Moreland's tracing of the personal effects of history, that some doctrines were more personal than theological. I admire the reformers (am reformed myself), yet am surprised that concerning miracles, Calvin "threw the baby out with the bathwater." I'm also not a cessationist, so I appreciate the testimonies which Moreland shared. I'm curious if the tallest angel in the trio of angels surrounding Moreland was also 30 feet tall?? Eric Metaxas had a friend who also witnessed angelic beings. In his book, "Miracles," he related how his friend saw an angel 30 feet tall while he was sitting during a service at Calvary St. George in NYC. Moreland didn't say on this show, how tall the tallest angel was; does he detail that in his book?
@OccamsRazoretta
@OccamsRazoretta 2 жыл бұрын
Sitting inside of Calvary St. George this past spring during my daughter's graduation, my mind went back to Metaxas' friend's story. The sanctuary has a high enough ceiling for a 30 foot tall angel; I looked around the sanctuary, trying to imagine where the man's line of sight was to have seen the angel. Must have been thrilling for him to see Hebrews 1:14 enliven before him.

These are wonderful examples. We need to always submit our prayer requests to God's will, while praying with childlike faith believing God can do it. I also love how these testimonies led to the person being Born Again and Saved! That's the whole point! Also we don't understand God's mind or His ways, but we can trust Him even when we don't see an outcome we desire. Perhaps we pray for healing and the Lord heals by taking the person Home to Heaven. God is not a genie in a bottle and prayer is not witchcraft but some churches try to make it that, and try to demand things instead of believing, but still submitting to God's will.

Thanks so much... Very blessed... Getting the book...! Say, how about doing a few of believing "celebrities," if you know what I mean... to give them an opportunity to share their testimonies...?

Love Beckett and JP! I've read a few of JP's books and I am always impressed with his intellect. And Beckett, you're just so loving and amazing. 😊I do, however, wonder a few things about some of these reports. For the lady and the MRI and the guy with the tooth problem, did JP view their official medical records to verify? I think for skeptics, that is a question that they would ask. Simply taking someone's report or testimony about an event is not always adequate proof.

At the request of my host, I prayed for a sick man in the Philippines and he got up the next day. God still hasn't healed me of my physical problems yet so I'm not sure why.

Honest question: how do you discern between whether you’re doing God’s will in healings, etc. as Dr. Moreland says, and when you’re in danger of being guilty of the people saying “Lord, Lord, did we not prophecy in your name, etc” from Matthew 7:21-23?

@@staceyvelkovich1054 amen!. I was deceived by the Word of Faith movement for nearly a year, during a very tumultuous time of grief. The teacher sounded good but little did I realize it was less about scripture and more about motivational speaking, with some scripture taken out of context here and there. At some point I found out about the Fighting for the Faith channel on KZfaq along with others and my eyes were opened.

@@lesliejohnson8738 Same here! Justin Peters was instrumental in me waking up to the deception, thank the Lord. 🙌 Fighting for the Faith is great too. I look fwd to American Gospel (part 3) coming out later this year, it will deal with all these Word of Faith wolves. Promises to be a must watch!

Keep up the good work Becket Cook. As a young Christian, in the 80's and 90's, America was a Christian nation, but the period was also filled with prosperity gospel. People were looking for a miracle to be healed or to get rich. That fits in with the me first generation. It changed the church, it destroyed people's relationship with God. It damaged the Christian reputation. It made my brother an atheist, or at least contributed to is. But it sure made a lot of pastors rich. My hairs are standing on its end when I hear the word miracle. To me, miracle exist, but is only to further the kingdom of God. In church today, majority of the people ask amiss that they would spend it on themselves. People are not asking for a miracle to further dedicate themselves to God. It ought to be that even if you get sick and die, believe God cause all things to work for good. Having faith in God's will is more important. I like Job, though God strike him dead, yet will he trust Him. That is a good attitude of faith. I am so afraid people look at miracle with the wrong attitude. So many have fallen. Because working out your salvation with fear and trembling is so important. Is so easy, and so dangerous to have the wrong attitude. It will kill your spiritual life without you even knowing it.

Hello Becket, I am just finishing up the last few chapters of your book, and I am truly enjoying it. I wonder if the book you read on NDEs was 'Imagine Heaven' by John Burke. It is a fascinating read if it is not the same book, and I would love it if you were able to get him on your show. He is the pastor of Gateway church in Austin, Texas, has done extensive research on NDEs focusing only on people who have nothing to gain and everything to lose by sharing their stories.
