Just finished painting all my kitchen cabinets that came with a 42+ year old house. Proper degreasing/sanding/priming was/is the key. The finished cabinets look outstanding as if they were just installed. Friends can not believe the results from a DIY who just turned 77 years old. Cabinets are looking outstanding!!!!

I see a couple negative comments regarding this paint so I’d like to chime in. I used the Advance satin paint tinted a dark gray (color matched to ikea bodbyn gray cabinets). It’s on my crown, baseboards, and doors. This is the best paint I have ever used. You barely see paint brush strokes and it is extremely durable. My dogs scratch the doors and the paint has held up with only very minor surface scratches. You really can’t even see the scratches unless I pointed them out. Last time I paid $75 for a gallon and it’s worth every cent.

Thanks for the video ,I was locking for a good review on this paint, I always used impervo satin from benjamin moore for all wood work and cabinets with penetrol and mineral spirit I love oil base with the right brushes and sponge roller it leaves nice finish. I stick to what it works for me but with this review now I'll give it a try because I think impervo will be discontinued soon, and I watch the other video comparing other paints ,cool thanks again.

I have used Advance for years. Satin dries much more quickly than the high gloss. Reapplication is supposed to be 16 hours, but in the right conditions I have recovered in 8 with no issue for shelving. Best paint for cabinets IMHO.

I hate brushing workability with this paint, but I love the cured finish for cabinets. Very hard and tough for high traffic, but I won’t use it for trim, as it slows me down.

Benjamin Moore Chantilly lace is the whitest of whites no black or grey undertones, can be mixed to advance or scuff x.

How long does the primer need to dry and will it need more than one coat? Same for the paint color coat - how long before they can be hung back up and will more than one coat be necessary? Love the finish. Dries to slow for me for cabinet painting. Doesn't cover very well with a brush. Big draw back for me is it ambers even in the can. If you paint expect it o have to color match if you need touch ups

You mentioned that the color comparison toward the end of the video is Benjamin Moore without tint...did you use all paints without tint in that other video where you compared a bunch of different paints?? Supply chain issues...can't find advance in base 1 for a white tint anywhere without 50 miles and I really want to use this paint. So I'm wondering if using it without tint will suffice.

As a distributor of Ben Moore and PPG, which version/item number of Breakthrough did you test. The 200 VOC is harder than the 50 VOC product.

Ignoring the cost difference, if you were choosing between Benjamin Moore Advance and Sherwin Williams Emerald for kitchen cabinets, which would you choose? I thought I had my mind made up after your Emerald review, but now I'm second-guessing. I will be using an airless paint sprayer on the doors and brushing the cabinet faces and sides. The thing I care about is avoiding/minimizing brush marks, since I use a brush and mini-roller. Comparing C-2 with Advance, Is one of these two products easier in that respect than the other? Would you use C-2 on trim? Thanks for the great video!

Can it be used over oil based paint?

I was seriously considering using Benjamin Moore advance white paint to paint my kitchen cabinets however I am looking for an ultra white paint. Is there another paint that you can recommend that has most if not all the same features as Benjamin Moore’s advance but is ultra white? C2. would not be my choice as it is not nearly as durable as BM Advance. Does the BM Emerald line include ultra white?

Awesome video and info. I was told to buy this to spray for cabinets. What's killing me is the runoff from the paint on cabinets and 16 hours to recoat. I have already applied 2 coats and continue to have runoff even when spraying at a low setting. So, what brush would you recommend since the spray is not going to work and would you rather use a lacquer?

NOT good paint I don't understand why people say BM Advance paint is great. I have been painting for years and it is the WORST paint I have ever used. It is nothing it says it is. It has no working time, does not lay off well, and does not level at all. Bought the prime and brush they recommend. I just did my new trim and all I see is brush marks. I returned the first gallon and tried a second, same poor results. I recommend avoiding this paint at all costs.

THIS PAINT SUCKS!! It is VERY THIN!! TAKES FOREVER TO DRY, YOU GET RUNS ALL THE TIME. COVERAGE FROM DARK TO WHITE, LIKE 4 COATS OVER 2 COATS OF A WHITE PRIMER. I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT.!!
