I know how you feel. I think coffee is the hardest addiction to get rid of, for taste reasons and “family conditioning.”

Been quitting lot of things lately, alcohol, cannabis, porn…recognizing ADHD is helping me sharpening my nozzle of focus. As they say - If I was organised I’d be dangerous!

Same for me. I did stop using sugar in my coffee and that was a huge help but I find I do better on coffee than without.

If anyone sees this, just quit caffeine. Green tea being healthy is a farce. If you’re sensitive to caffeine, you’re sensitive to it, doesn’t matter if it’s less caffeine or contains theanine. Eat other foods that contain theanine.

I find coffee actually helps me with more than just not feeling tired. I am both autistic and I have ADHD but I find if I drink one or two cups of coffee per day, I have ZERO, I repeat ZERO brain fog. I like the flavor of coffee and I try to only get it from organic, fair trade sources. I actually have experimented by going to work without coffee versus WITH coffee and my productivity levels WITH caffeine are significantly better than without. Without coffee, everything people say to me just sounds like an explosion of information but WITH coffee, my brain has a much easier time organizing information that is presented to me. I think for those who can go without coffee, do it! But for those who find that coffee improves daily function, keep drinking it! I need it for focus! Autism is really hard to live with but coffee makes life a little easier!

I have this too and it does help a lot! Better than ritalin, is what I was assuming, although they work on different physiological mechanisms.

Check your vitamin d levels or start supplementing at least 5,000 iu per day with vitamin k2 so it absorbes correctly

I like love this guy. He is such a breath of fresh air. Every other KZfaq doctor or health guru raves about how great caffeine is. Personally, as someone with insomnia, I’m skeptical of it too. It gives you energy, but to me, the energy almost feels artificial. I don’t feel it takes away the tiredness, but rather masks it. Once it wears off ya crash and burn.

That's because it doesn't make you more awake, it just blocks adenosine receptors which is the chemical in your brain letting you know your tired

Instead of actually activating stimulating receptors caffeine mostly just blocks signals that tell you you're tired. Instead of having more energy its just less tired

He's right. I used to have a habit of getting coffee when I would be at a coffee shop to study. And it worked like magic until the weekends when I wouldn't need to work. And BAM, a massive, throbbing headache. This happened several times until I decided it wasn't worth it.

I don't get any withdrawal because I only have redbull twice a week. I know it's not healthy but that's the only I can stay awake when I have to work. I only work 2 times a week because I do 16 hours shift so I guess only 2 times a week it shouldn't be too bad.

I didn’t realize how much green tea could help to relax. It always gave me more energy than coffee, so I didn’t ever think that it could help, in that manner. Thanks, Dr. Amen. I’ll drink more green tea in the mornings.

For me i need caffiene in the morning. Could be coffee, or no sugar citrus energy that has lots of Vitamin B's. I found i can not handle the cold beverages with green coffee berries, and a different natural stimulant called yerbe-mate, messes my stomach and i feel like my body is vibrating and not able to focus. There are more natural plant stimulants that at this time i can not remember their names. Best to read label ingrediants because various stimulants are only mentioned in the back in tiny print list of ingredients. Everyone has different genetics, brain chemistry and metabolism, and this changes in everyone at different ages (hormones changes, from little to flooding to slowly diminishing in all sex genders)

Caffeine only has an initial vasoconstricting effect. The majority of the time it is in your system, it acts as a vasodilator thereby increasing blood flow to the brain

I drink a lot of coffee and have stopped cold turkey for weeks/months at a time with no side effects but maybe a little tired at first. Then started up again. It keeps me regular.

I never started drinking coffee or alcohol bc I never wanted to get addicted. Alcoholism runs in my family so I took precautions. Prescription meds however, I eat like candy!😂 I suffer with severe nerve pain in my legs & feet bc I used to be paralyzed from a cancer tumor on my spinal cord when I was 14. They didn’t think I’d ever walk again but I can walk with a cane now, 20+ years later. Wish the pain would go away already. I’d like to live some of the life I fought so hard for instead of sleeping through it! I was on fentanyl for 18 years & basically slept through those 18 years. Got off it last year bc it wasn’t really working anymore & government regulations. Any tips for getting my mind off the pain? Mind over matter? Thanks!😘💋

one thing i've started to practice is not having any coffee for at least one hour after i've woken up. It seems to have the effect of needing less caffeine throughout the day. I don't get that caffeine crash in the early afternoon.

I live on coffee. I am ADHD and I can feel the difference moments after a cup. I can also sleep within minutes after drinking a pot. It doesn't affect my sleep at all but I assume it is affecting my blood flow

Based on info from Matthew Walker (sleep scientist), the sleep quality (and thereby some/many of its benefits) gets wrecked by caffeine regardless of how long we might sleep or how deep we may think the sleep was, if we drink it too late in the day (less than 8-10 hours before bedtime).

Green tea was once my primary source of caffeine, and I loved it! I’m trying to get back to such, because as of a good-while lately, I’ve been a caffeine junky on those cheap powdered-drink mixes. The times I’ve gotten off caffeine completely, are the times I’ve felt the best. Well, with the exception of one time when I was eating nothing but plants, when I was energetically depleted all around.

Agree. Less is better. I restrict to 1-2 cup in am . I have histamine intolerance so I can't drink green or black tea at all. But I do go for less is better. Thank you Dr Amen

i have quit cold turkey.. i drank an insane amount of Monster Energy daily, and my total daily was about 4 grams of caffeine. I am on day 5 and my legs ache, among other symptoms. BUT, my sleep is amazing

I ditched coffee for matcha around a year and a half ago. Coffee is just far too overrated. I have scanned and assessed the medical literature on this. Here are important finds: - Effects of coffee consumption on glucose metabolism: A systematic review of clinical trials. - Association between coffee consumption with serum lipid profile in ELSA-Brasil study: a metabolomic approach - The effect of coffee consumption on serum lipids: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials - Conflicting Effects of Coffee Consumption on Cardiovascular Diseases: Does Coffee Consumption Aggravate Pre-existing Risk Factors? Everyone needs to transition to matcha green tea latté by the least. We must break the global domination of the international coffee cartel once and for all.

Agreed. 1 mug of black coffee helps me focus. But more than that does the opposite. Caffeine is also a methylxanthine. Another methylxanthine is theophylline which can be used to treat exercise-induced asthma.

If I drink green tea, I will be staring at the ceiling all night. I switched to the decaf. I only drink 1 cup of coffee ☕️ and I sleep pretty well . Love your information!! Thanks 😊.

The ammount of green tea that you would need to drink to get an efficacious dose of L-theanine would get you on par with the same amount of caffeine as from coffee. Buy L-theanine in 200 mg capsules.

I personally used green tea as a way to cut down my caffeine intake gradually. Now I don't drink anything with caffeine. No more headaches and MORE energy throughout the entire day, instead of a crash and burn. Many people say it helps lose weight and may have helped me get rid of 50 pounds which I have kept off. Many others say it also helped to reduce or eliminate anxiety.

Yes, but one needs to be reasonable. You can do the things you like once in a while ad long ad their effects don't impact your life both negatively short and longterm.

I started a reaction to caffeine in my 20's dizzy vomiting, hives, sweats and then pass out. I'm 60 I haven't had caffeine since then. I drink decaffeinated green tea every morning and evening. I still suffer insomnia I refuse to take sleeping pills had a bad reaction to them

You should try melatonin if you haven't already. Magnesium is also beneficial for sleep and if possible, get your magnesium levels checked. However, there are different types of mag so have to do research on which one is right for you. I hate nights that I can't sleep well so I'm sure insomnia really sucks.

@@sandrasheets9185 Bless your heart, I'm so sorry, you've been through so much. I'm 50...have already decided if I'm ever diagnosed with cancer I'm not doing the radiation or chemo. Will try other things but thats it. Heaven, if I make it there, is sounding better everyday in this crazy world, anyway. There's that recent story about that veterinarian medicine called Fenbendazole...man name Joe Tiipins took it for lung cancer. Also I have read in the past about apricot seeds being beneficial but they have to be the bitter ones. There was actually a man imprisoned for selling them but can't remember his name. That kind of stuff makes me go, hmmm 🤔...I mean, arrested for selling seeds, really? I always wish I was able to help others but sadly, I'm just another non 'expert' pleb in this world. I will pray for you and your recovery ❤

So caffeine is not good but green tea is so good for you that the good outweighs the caffeine. I switched from coffee with sugar and cream to tea with honey. So switching to green tea will be super easy. But my tea has ashwaganda in it so I really love it

Green tea makes me jittery. I'm probably allergic to it. On the other hand, I love coffee. I stopped drinking coffee several times in my life but always came back to it. Love coffee ;)

My granddad drinks at least 3 cups of coffee a day and he is 95, still living in his own home, mild dementia and happy. I guess he must be an outlier. He also did night shifts for a long period of time as a fireman so who knows how he has made it this long!

I know many doctors in their 50s and 60s and they drink 500-1000mg of caffeine A DAY! They’re as healthy as can be. I don’t think Dr. Amen is completely honest. I think he just dislikes caffeine.

@@rootlessnurse6345 I don’t think he ever said there aren’t people who drink excessive amounts of caffeine. He also never said they were all certain to feel symptoms. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t consequences, big or small.

I cut coffee, alcohol, and weed out of my life and I’m sleeping better but I’m also on a lot of medication for a sinus infection and have a ton of stress in my life

Ok thx i will switch. I got an headache right now and yesterday i sweated a lot after one big cup only just sitting in the car and working with the laptop and t-shirt. My wife was driving with a pullover! Screw it!

Interesting. But higher coffee consumption is linked directly to *lower mortality* in studies. I'll take more coffee and less death please 🤷

As ADHD, I approve caffeine. I can go to work at 3am, not drink black coffee or do. It’s all preference. But I learned long ago that I do not like sugar or dairy in my coffee. Makes me feel funny lol

So, since two surgeries foe cancer over a year ago, I am so fatigued I cannot function and become irritable especially after a meal. So I find that drinking water 20 mins beforea meal, then 1/3 can of RedBull right before plating my meal, helps brain work even though blood goes to my stomach. YES - I am getting B12 shots, taking vitamin C, D3, k2, eating a hand-sized piece of liver 2x wk, getting veggies. And drinking Green Tea when I can. But green tea is not practical all of the time for time constraints or no way to heat water/mix stuff. It is one small can per day, sometimes a little more if there are leftovers from the day before (stored in glass, in fridge). There is less caffeine than coffee, and it gives me taurine, which, by elimination in trying other drinks/vitamin combos, is the thing I need. Leads me to think I'm not absorbing or making use of/distributing Vit C along with the B12? Is using Redbull this way for this purpose, damaging? I am desperately cleaning out my late mother's house & it is the only thing making it possible. B12 shots are good, but irregular in their effects

I appreciate all these wonderful ways to make my brain and overall health better. What about all these new mushroom coffees that are suppose to be good for you. I started them and have much less stomach pains. Just curious. Do the mushrooms show on drug tests? We have random ones at work where I do medical transportation. Need to be sure about that one. Okay I use to like u 😂 I've just cut down to 6 cups a day. I was hoping u would say 6 cups was fine. When I was younger had to work every moment, house note, electric , water,gas, insurance on house,car, health, life. Oh yes then I had 4 mouth's to feed, clothed, entertainment it was never ending so coffee was my best friend, always there for me. Thanks for your videos❤

@@inspirationalguy81 I’ve quit drinking coffee and theirs no difference. I just like the taste and drink 3 cups a day max. Everyone is different. I have a friend who would have a panic attack off one cup. I also only drink water or coffee that’s it.

@@MrMcflanigengaming There was a research that even if you sleep well, caffeine would still mess up your deep sleep reducing it by roughly 20% if you drink coffee before bed. I think if you feel ok and has no issues waking up in good mood so mb you should not worry, but its worth knowing nonetheless

Several years ago I gave up caffeinated coffee and only drank water. I stopped the coffee abruptly and for two weeks had very bad headaches and kept falling asleep throughout the day. These effects gradually disappeared over the next two weeks and, since then, I have very rarely drunk anything with caffeine in it. If I do have a drink with caffeine then I feel very hyped up and ready to climb the walls 😂. So, if you want to stop ingesting caffeine then it’s probably best to do it gradually.
