As per usual with Chat Control, the articles only popped up _AFTER_ countries had already voted for it and could have easily been passed stealthily without a single beep from any outlet, if it weren't for Swedish parties that "accidentally" voted for it and triggered the media to report on THAT. There needs to be news articles made WEEKS before the NEXT voting in November so EU citizens know that their digital rights are about to expire.

Yeah right "accidentally". Like the Swedish politicians just threw out +300 years of neutrality WITHOUT ASKING THE CITIZENS by joining nato!!!! Sweden is now just a USA puppet, and it makes me sick to the core. Then we have about 20% of our population that thinks it's a GREAT idea to vote for a politician that have no problem holding speaches right next to someone in FULL NAZI UNIFORM (swastika and all). "How could what happenED in 1930 Germany happen?" THIS IS HOW IT HAPPENED.

did they? if i remember correctly, there wasnt even a vote, because they knew they wouldnt have enough support in the council... german media *did* report on it too for once - of course they framed as a law mainly for "protecting children from SA"... but at least something?

@@mimiaumeow Like half the countries had already voted by the time it was being reported on, the reason why it was pulled is because enough countries voted NO. Sweden voted YES in Tuesday, deadline was Thursday. Articles from small international outlets (and Sweden's own public service "SVT") popped up on Wednesday about Sweden's mistake. Then on Thursday AFTER the vote had been pulled it reached the mainstream media. If it got passed, it would have been passed in mostly silence.

Just love the decisions Mozilla keeps making. First data collection, now actual ad company. Love Firefox, but Mozilla execs need firing.

Facebook already has had collecting profiles and profile pictures for people that are not registered. For like 15 years... Most people are tagged on pictures, one way or another.

No talk about the CDK Global cyber attack? :'( That almost entirely shut down over 50% of dealerships in the US.

Am I going insane, or does he just repeat exactly what he says at 6:38, and confirm he was correct but said he was wrong at 6:51?? Even though it would mean he was actually correct about what he said at 6:38. He literally says he is wrong about what he he said, then the correction he gives is what he said was the wrong info.

Im sorry but what is calling "our" politicians gonna change?? And we literally dont even vote for them - we only vote for the European Parliament, not the Council or the Commission. The Parliament basically doesnt have any real power and has already voted against chat control years ago.

Vote in national elections! Whilst the commission has the power to propose laws, they don't actually have any power in voting to accept laws. The council of ministers, however, are made up of the ministers from the various national governments, who you do vote for! The parliament voted against the proposal a couple of months ago, not years. Although, if it does come up again, things are looking slightly more pessimistic, since the pirate parties, who have been by far the most vocal and effective in preventing these laws so far, have lost two of their three Czech seats, as well as their only German MEP. I am sure the single remaining Czech pirate MEP will do their best to stall this law in the future, but unless politicians who actually prioritize these issues have a place in the national legislatures as well, the member countries will surely keep jumping on every chance to impose ever more surveillance.

@@philipjohansson3949Had 2 parties in my country that used Anti chat control to gain extra support in the most recent EU election vote yes “by mistake”. You can’t make it up, these politicians just keep coming up with excuses.

This is the part that Nate, Henry, and Jonah always leave out of the discussion. It's always "call your politicians" instead of "call your politicians, but also protect yourself". The wheels of law are slow to change and won't do you any good in the immediate future. Everyone needs to take their own precautions, and not depend solely on some government figure to solve all your problems.
