Ate a big bowl of chickpea pasta last night with tomato sauce, woke up today with no bloating and had a good bathroom session..so! I'll be using for now on instead of regular wheat gluten pasta

These types of pastas are often made of 100% red lentil flour etc. No protein powder, and not highly processed. Just the flour put into pasta shapes. It’s amazing, healthy, and high in protein. Highly recommend!

@@randyperkins5063 I just tried the red lentil penne from the Barilla brand and I liked it. it tastes off on its own but its good with sauce or parmesan. Its made from 100% red lentil flour

Chickpea's are alkaline, good source of fiber, iron, and potassium. Far better than the bleached enriched with synthetic mineral flour that is so common.

My legume based pastas from Aldis , Rulers, Schnucks etc have NEVER contained anything but beans and water. NO pea flower. NO protein powder. nothing . But go ahead and act like you know what you're talking about and steer people away from them.

I was thinking something similar. She only mentioned store brought pasta that has added protein powder. What about homemade lentil and chickpea pasta? Those weren't mentioned and I think those are better than the traditional white pastas.

She's either not fully informed about the fact that easy to find, main-stream, large-chain grocery store bean pastas contain only two ingredients, i.e. lentils/chicpeas/blackbeans and water, (maybe she and you consider it "refined" because it's not made out of wheat?), or she's willfully misleading people. Also, I was and am calm. You are the "WOW" person so maybe you should "calm down"

calonstanni I agree chickpea and bean based alternative pastas have no allergens and are alot healthier than wheat pastas that are naturally highly processed and bleached.

Ever since I switched from white rice to quinoa I don’t find my self hungry all the time. Plant protein makes me full so I don’t have to eat for a while.

I was very curious about the pasta as well. Here in Spain, where I live chickpeas is a large part of normal cuisine. We can buy chickpea flour in the supermarket, that only contain chickpea. Nothing else. So it would have been interesting to know more, if it could be used to make a sort of pasta etc... even bought hydrated chickpeas can easily be gound to a paste, and used as a base for a lot of things... but it turned into more talk about protein powders...

I think you can eat this kind of pasta once in a while just not overindulge if you have pcos, and possibly diabetes. That’s my opinion. As long as it’s not an everyday thing or multiple times a week. But for a special occasion or treat meal.

LOL. I watch what I eat pretty carefully and happened upon this video after Bon Appétit triggered an incipient obsession with pasta e ceci (pasta w/ chickpeas). The title reeled me in and the smart discourse held me, though your chickpea pasta and mine have little in common!

Whether chickpea pasta is processed or not, if you serve it in a small size portion you’re fine. Ive eaten this as spaghetti with meat sauce and side of broccoli and cheese. I still lose weight. Its all in moderation.

So I just tried Bentilia's Zimmunity and I'm seriously amazed it's so much better than anything I've ever had and I'm gluten intolerant plus my kids can't even taste the difference from normal pasta.

She began answering 2:05 the chickpea pasta into the video! So im not sure if you just missed it, or... But to answer your question: No, chickpea pasta would not be keto friendly! All you have to do is look up the nutrition labels of chickpeas, to know they have too many carbs. On average, in pasta form, a small normal serving will have 8g of carbs, and only 1.5g of that is fiber. Meaning the other 6.5g is sugar/starch which will spike your insulin! And considering one small serving may not be enough to fill you up, or whatever carbs might be in the sauce/ingredients you add onto/into your pasta... would make it even more than that! Sure you can have somewhere between 15 to 20 grams of carbs MAX per day, when doing low carb diets, but you want them to be almost all Fiber based carbs only! And for good, steady weight loss results, until you reach your goals, I would not risk going as high as 20 grams per day! I'd personally try to stay within/under the 15g mark! And only if they are fiber based! So chickpea pasta would be a *NOPE* alternative! Try zucchini pasta "Zoodles" ... or riced Cauliflower... or Spaghetti Squash (it's super filling, a little bit will make you feel full fast) ... And stay away from jarred pre-made pasta sauces! Make your sauce homemade so you can be sure that all it's ingredients are keto friendly!

Barilla protein pasta I use now for my regular meals during the week, I can barely taste a difference, I’m into body building so it’s a great substitute especially with meat sauce or chicken in it... now I just eat regular pasta when I’m out to dinner or cooking something once in a while

Thank you for this! Personally I don't li I ever using protein powder but I've love using the alternative pasta usually along another source of protein either plant based or fish. There are many now made with black beans and lentils that only have the beans/legumes and water as the ingredients which has been nice to see.

Barilla chickpea and lentil pasta (Protein Plus) has over 40g of carbs in just 1/4 cup. I love the taste, but can't justify eating it. With pasta sauce and 1/2 cup of beef, it is over 600 calories. Yikes! A better alternative is shirataki noodles.

Its a complex carb and tons better for you than regular pasta carbs which spike insulin. Its actually 34 carbs and 8g of fiber which means its actually only 26g net carbs vs 39 of the bad carbs in regular Barilla Rotini. 600 cal is still relatively low especially with all the fiber and protein you are getting. Carbs are essential the problem is most people eat the wrong ones. Shirataki noodles are actually the WORSE alternative because they have no nutrition whatsoever. Its not something you should be making a staple source as she said but it is a decent pasta alternative

@@cici39177 My body doesn't metabolize the carbs in breads, pastas, or rice very well. It is very hard for me to lose weight if I eat any of them. So usually I just stick to sweet potatoes and oats for my complex carbs.

God's Word Evangelism Oats are great! And yeah same of I eat rice or grain or regular pasta I swell up like a Macys Day balloon. Once in awhile I really like to make a cold pasta salad and the Barilla one is the only one that doesn’t give me the negative side effects the regular and rice ones do....Sweet potatoes are amazing for you but I unfortunately taste a burning “horseradish” aftertaste for most root vegatables :(

last night like a real boob, I ate a whole box of the chickpea pasta Mac in cheese. it was just like if not better then real Mac I. cheese. keto friendly, I hoped so but after when I checked on line. NO

They both bloat the heck out of me, even after the 2 oz reccomended amount and cause horrific gas. Went back to Good Wheat.brand pasta. It does contain gluten but tastes like regular pasta, has good fiber and protein and I eat the reccomended 2 oz serving size and no bloat or room clearing gas. Done with all these lame new not as tasty alternatives. They have as many carbs as normal pastas.

Most pastas are typically vegan regardless. The alternative pastas are usually marketed for those looking to go grain or gluten free.
