eXtra Definition. It ain’t UHD or HD, it’s XD!!!!!!!!

It's basically the highest definition of the screen without filters or specs and offers crystal clear picture and stereo surround sound. The colors are much brighter and corrected.

I know this is late, but I just saw it, I have reached out to PVR several times and they have never responded to my request for interviews.

I’ve been going to the same theatre since i was a kid. It’s my favorite theater locations 🙂

@@Stayler17 capitalism isn't bad as long as it's REGULATED. As in making sure companies are providing fair working conditions, minimizing monopolies to ensure competition and ensuring safety of products.

Interesting question. Not knowing anything else I’d go with the IMAX screen since you said it was a real IMAX screen and those are big. However, if screen size is important to you, you could call the theater and ask which one has the biggest screen. Unfortunately you’ll prob get bounced around until you get a hold of someone who has the knowledge you need.

I'm doing an experiment on my channel. Looking at my analytics I notice when I make video over 4 minutes long, people leave the video or stop watching and then proceed to ask questions I've already answered in the video. So I'm trying this experiment to see if I can retain my audience longer per video so they'll take in all of the info.

If it's filmed in IMAX 70mm than I'd go to a real IMAX theater. If you're not close a real one, then go with Cinemark XD.

Movie University thank you! That helps quite a bit! I live right next to a Cinemark XD and the only real IMAX in my state is an aquarium. If they don’t get those movies, I’ll definitely see them in XD!

Depends on which one you go to. Some will be THX certified and some won't. Look for the THX badge at the door when walking into the auditorium to see if that particular theater is THX certified.

I'm going to a old school IMAX can't wait I don't wanna mix the extra 26% of the picture that you can only see in IMAX plus no red lights too get in the way

Josh Fletcher I would have gone to Imax but i think i have a lot of liemax theatres in my area so i don’t trust I’m getting the best of viewing but it is my first time going to dolby cinema and i am very excited. Enjoy your screening!

@@LewisM4K I like the liemax theaters too I almost went to one at first it was a problem but then I decided I liked there sound and extra picture on certain movies so now any IMAX is my default if they have IMAX scenes I hate the red lights dolby has from the floor that shine on the screen plus the picture always seem to be out of focus too me XD has the clearest picture but it doesn't always pop and there sound is not always loud enough when compared to IMAX digital I mean they all have the falts

Are you saying that the ticket is $3 more for the XD screen versus the other screens in the same theater?

@@MovieUniversity Yes, at "Century 20 Great Mall and XD" in Milpitas, CA. they are showing it in both standard and XD. The XD is $3 more, at least it is when I buy tix through Fandango. I try to watch in empty auditoriums on purpose unless it's a horror movie. The XD room I'm watching The Joker' in is pretty empty compared to the standard room.

jordan rausch I saw Terminator in D-Box 2 Weeks ago and it was 💪🏾🔥🔥🔥👎🏾 and INTENSE. Im seeing Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker in either IMAX, XD, RPX, or maybe go to SilverSpot Cinema on December 25 with my mom, step dad, and step sister. Will most likely try IMAX or go to SilverSpot Cinema.

I'm glad people still find these old videos of mine still useful. (I in Northern, VA). Just my two cents, you can't go wrong with seeing movies at a Dolby Cinema. I also love love love Alamo Drafthouse.

The most common one for me now is a Cinemark XD simply because within 50 yards of the entrance is a Dave & Busters + Chevy's (great salsa etc.) - and the theater itself has better concessions (personal pizza and the like) than the slightly closer AMC ones. The latter have decent screens, a bit less of a walk (the Cinemark has 24 screens and is at a major mall entrance, a mall that also has a large casino on the far side the whole place is busy). It's the dining that makes the Cinemark stand out - the smaller theater complexes might have only 6-10 screens and not all have reserved seats (they are all going in that direction). So your advice is in that establish-a-minimum-criteria category where I can eliminate the marginal players in audio/visual, and pick from what amounts to the best 3. Then it's down to eats (another contender is near a Mission BBQ) and how many time/screen choices I have for a new release that will be crowded. I just hadn't thought much in the past about these things because until not long before COVID it was, in this area, more about who had the more comfortable seats and not as much who had installed the best systems. Yeah, that was the talk at work, but the latest technology matters. I found the IMAX, which has been around for years, to be 1) too loud and 2) often too high and to see it all from most seats, in many sections of the seating, to require too much head movement to take it all in. Bigger screen is not necessarily better. I run a Dell 43" 4K screen on my home computer, and while it's nice to have 4k and no seams between monitors it can also make one's neck a bit tired, the same effect of most IMAX screens I've seen. Again, thanks for the info on the electronics - that is a bit harder to compare unless I go to multiple movies within a week or two. A month later or more I'd have forgotten the details of the experience so a good reviewer's opinions/advice is valuable.

THX is also excellent. I would consider it the only sound system better than Dolby.

I understand. everyone has their preferences. I should have included that IMAX created their 12 track audio (2014) in response to Dolby Atmos (2012). Out of curiosity, how did you come across my channel? Viewers from Europe are low for me 🙁

I saw John Wick 3 in Dolby Cinema today and it was fantastic! Cinemark XD wouldn't be a bad choice if DC is packed.

Movie University I ended up watching it at XD, definitely better than an IMAX theater but not sure about DC

Sadly yes, most IMAX screens aren't any bigger than a XD or RPX screen. Checkout my 2020 IMAX update video to learn a little bit more if you're interested in IMAX.
