About Me:
After growing up in Central Ohio, the natural progression is to move to Columbus, but this was a very different town in the early 2000s. After surviving the Great Recession, Columbus has been on an absolute tear. While the recession was rough, we tended to fare better than many other cities partially due to the diverse amount of employers in the area. That, along with a focus on redevelopment of areas close to Downtown, population growth and the relatively cheap cost of living have helped buoy the Central Ohio area.
It doesn't seem that long ago in 2009 when residents were stoked to get Yuengling Lager to the area. Fast forward a short decade and today we have over 50 local breweries and our own "Ale Trail". That is just one of the fantastic changes.
Leaving for ten years, I left more or less a cow town and returned to a City bustling with boutique shops, coffee houses and restaurants, a renewed focus on fitness and somehow it seemed sunnier. In fact, it was such a cool city that we decided to stay.

Great summary, I love seeing the stats compared to other major cities in the US. I have lived in this City since 1970 and have been a part of the growth. I would not want to live anywhere else... GO BUCKS!!!

it's gotten out of control and new homes are entirely too big.. the lots are postage stamps and the homes are huge.. i can't wait to cash out and get out of here.. can't see a doctor, takes 6 months to get an appointment..

😢😢😢 Columbus Ohio is too expensive! A safe and clean 1 bedroom apartment is over $1,000+/Month. Most people cannot afford this on the crappy wages! Wages would have to be $25/Hour and up for any job to keep up with criminal rental gouging and inflation! PAY gouged pricing to Play ( live ) is a crime system!

$1k is too much to pay for a one bedroom apt. Costs have gone up here, but still not as expensive as other similar sized cities. If you get away from the city center though there seem to be better prices.

I live in Pasadena, Ca and own a condo here but there are new apartments all around. A 1 br here about 750 sq ft will.start at about $2500. Even the more sketchy parts in the bad areas will run $1800... I'm thinking of selling and moving to Columbus next year and $1000 for a 1 br is like a dream.

@@capitalismisdivisionofevil8322 I'm retired after living in LA for 35 years. No need to work. Just looking for a lower cost of living and not seeing homeless tents all over the streets. Was in Columbus a few times since last year. What a difference.

There are plenty of homes under 200,000 thousand in Columbus. Look in areas that are more urban. Such as North Linden, Far East Side, South East Side , just avoid the popular suburbs or pricey hip areas.

😭😭😭 I have lived here since 2008! I was able to keep up with affordable rent of $400/Month on 35 years of low wages forced on us by greedy employers! It is now 2023! I cannot afford to be independent anymore since base low cost housing is now over $1,300/Month yet wages have not gone up. You either are lucky to have family take you in, living in your car (severe loneliness and misery), or homeless! Housing wait lists are over 8 years+ long! Shelters full of people with shattered will power! External beauty of a city is NOT a realistic perspective of how dire and cost ridden our city is! Crime is up everywhere! Education is 12 years behind to keep up with technological changes most people cannot afford.

How diverse is Columbus Ohio in terms of people speaking difference languages? How often do u see difference kinds of people from other countries?

Depends where you are around the city. I hear Spanish, many African languages, Russian, various Indian languages, but it really depends on where you are. For instance, my wife is a nurse and she hears a different language always at work. I wish I heard more Spanish so I could practice more.

How good is the metro in Columbus. I assume it's not underground. How long by amtrak to Wheeling? A bit far drive, and I prefer no windshield time. On a train work time on a laptop starts when train rolls🤑

I'm a conservative in CA. I'm black and my wife is bi-racial we are strongly considering moving Columbus OHIO and was wondering how accepting the city is of interracial families. Any info would help thanks!

Hey Andy do you sell houses only in Columbus or do you go anywhere like Groveport Canal Winchester etc??

Yes, I do cover those areas as well. Usually I stay within about 20 miles of 270. If outside that area I usually suggest a few good agents who can help.
