The schools are pretty much the reason this place exists. It's always been populated by mostly renters that move there and pay the premium rents just to send their kids to Grandview. I went to GHHS and it was an awesome place. Pretty much the opposite of the hellish high school experience everyone always bitches about. And I was pretty weird too

There aren’t any tradesmen there, or there aren’t enough tradesmen there, so it sounds like if you need your heating fixed or your air conditioning fixed in the summer, or your plumbing fixed, who do you call? I looked up that Ohio hospital, and even though it’s supposed to be great, it has a lot of terrible reviews on Google. it reminds me of a certain hospital in Florida (Tampa General) that was on a US News World and Report list, but it was literally a terrible hospital and anyone who had an experience there didn’t want to go back.

Hey, I'm also a native these last 65 years, but I feel the need to disagree with your assessment of the roads here in Columbus. Yes there are potholes, etc, but, exc😢for rush hour, you can still get from the center city area to any part of the outerbelt in 15 minutes. Which if you've lived almost anywhere else is unusual. Lol, peace 💚

Literally normal for any Midwest city to have potholes downtown tbh. Salt+freezing temps =doodoo roads. But the highways in OH are better than any other Midwestern state in my experience. 2nd id say Illinois but only where it’s a toll road, seems they don’t care about non taxed roads there much.

transportation is such a glossed over issue. Traffic may not be horrendous now, but in a few years if LinkUs doesn't do anything, the terrible land usage coupled with auto dependency will lead down to that of your San Francisco's and other west coast cities, for example. People will get priced out and affordability will go out the window as it's already starting to rear its head. Transportation + land usage are the next biggest issues in our american cities. Columbus is unique as it is growing at a rapid rate, and it ABSOLUTE NEEDS to accept that the car experiment has failed and needs to be over if it truly wants to succeed. But I feel like it's not going to, or not at a fast enough pace, making it a terrible city to move to for your children. Chicago all the way.

Other than Worthington, the other four suburbs are rapidly building out and expanding. Worthington as its charm, don't get me wrong, but it is a landlocked suburb like the aforementioned Marble Cliff, Upper Arlington, and Grandview Heights. A smattering of Columbus is growing northwest to Plain City, as is Dublin, which is also growing toward the growing Narysville. Powell is following with development towards Delaware. Westerville built out by the 2000s. No major annexations to bring more redevelopment properties into the city. Could be considered a landlocked suburb like Gahanna? No disparagement intended. Columbus and it suburbs offer something for everyone.

Greed and corruption 🤬 people are getting sick of it, no matter what state your from. Cause it's in every state! The playing field needs to be leveled in the worst way. And corporations and individuals that took advantage...there needs to start being accountability. Its just going to get worse and keep looping till the corruption is addressed.

If people are moving to Columbus, it's because of the bad since of direction.
@JayYoung-ro3vu
@JayYoung-ro3vu 26 күн бұрын
No, it's not "bad direction." Our state capital is a job creating engine. It has taken four decades for the throttle to reach "full." Other Ohio cities will see the spill over growth/redevelopment. What made us great in the mid-19th-mid 20th centuries is required again, and we have it in trainloads!

We moved to Columbus (suburb Ostrander) in June 2023 and am loving it. My son attends OSU and we relocated here to stay close to him. We love how affordable it is, the ease of driving around, all the great restaurants and how welcoming everyone has been. It's a much simpler way of life than the East Coast and our only regret is not moving here sooner.

Very helpful and informative video, Andy - thank you! Native Detroiter moving to Columbus this summer and I was curious about the outdoor music scene (summer 'n all) and Kemba Live seems to be the ticket. The Detroit equivalent for the summer lawn experience is Pine Knob Music Theater - highly recommend if you're that way. Thanks again for the music scene breakdown!

Nice video, sir. Easily said by someone who makes money getting people to buy homes in Columbus.! Columbus is a fine area but I would like to point out it has changed a lot and not all for the bettter. I’m good at being rude and blunt so here it goes. Let me remind you the southside has been a mess for as long as I can remember. The casino certainly hasn’t saved the declined west side. Northland is literally a Third World. Eastland is a downright deserted boarded up ghetto. And I don’t know why you think traffic is so wonderful getting around. That’s the real Columbus. Your customers aren’t being steered to. I bet you’re selling much higher prices outside of 270 in a burb. Of course since nearly the whole county is trchnicslly “Columbus,” (but you may not have to go to Columbus schools, thank God,) You can still say it’s Columbus!!

There are plenty of homes under 200,000 thousand in Columbus. Look in areas that are more urban. Such as North Linden, Far East Side, South East Side , just avoid the popular suburbs or pricey hip areas.

Hey Andy! Great videos. I just subscribed to your channel. I live in the burbs, always have but now I want to move closer to downtown. I have been looking at homes in Olde Towne East, Near East, Southern Orchards, King-Lincoln areas, etc. I was in contract on a property flip but the inspection turned up issues so I terminated. Question for you- what is your opinion on property flips and how do I know if the investor did a good job? I just don't want to keep throwing away money on inspections only to find issues and have to walk. Should I keep looking at property flips? Or find a lesser priced home in need of improvements in a nicer, safer neighborhood and hire a good, reputable contractor to do the work?
