Cobe and I try to stay as active as we can. I am an avid cyclist and Cobe rides with me occasionally. Cobe is a golf addict which anyone who plays golf knows can be expensive. We have an inflatable raft we take down the rivers in Toronto in the summer. Plus Noble our dog keeps us active all year long. Having the right equipment, footwear, and clothing goes a long way to enjoying each and every experience. Since Decathlon opened it's stores in Ontario it has become our go to spot for sports.
Decathlon began in Lille France and has since expended to 72 different countries. What sets them apart from other sports stores is the high percentage of sportswear and equipment that they make themselves. This helps to keep costs low and they don't suffer from the same distribution issues other sports stores have to deal with. They also implemented a Good Better Best approach so depending on the level of athlete you are. They have clothing and equipment that will suit your needs. In this video I'll be discussing their cycling equipment primarily but Decathlon covers practically every sport.
Is Decathlon the best sports store? If you are only factoring in value then maybe they are. At least in Canada when you compare what they have on offer for the price they beat the usual suspects. Walmart, Canadian Tire, and Sport Chek can't compete with their selection and price. Where Decathlon falls a bit short in Canada at least is the familiarity with some of their higher end products, and the lack of knowledgeable staff in stores. It helps that Cobe researches everything we intend to buy extensively. If you want expert advise about a particular product you're probably better off going to a specialty store for that specific sport.
For less expensive items Decathlon is definitely the place to go. The quality of their midrange and higher end sportswear is excellent, and a fraction of the price of comparable brand names. Cobe loves their Inesis Golf products, and we both love the Van Rysel line of Cycling gear.
If you haven't visited a Decathlon Sports store yet I suggest you check it out. If you've enjoyed this video please Subscribe. Thank you.
