Watch Budokai 1 Retrospective here - • Dragon Ball Z: Budokai...
Have you ever gone back to a game that you used to love and realize that it wasn't that good? Or replayed a game that you used to hate but found out that was a lot better than you remember?
Well in this series I'm going to be revisiting some games from my past and seeing whether or not they are as good or as bad as I remember. This is “What We Had to Play!”
Dragon ball Z Budokai 3 was released in 2004 for the Playstation 2 it is the 3rd game in the budokai series, obviously, given the name. In 2012 an HD remastered release for ps3 and xbox 360. It was bundled with the first budokai, with budokai 2 being strangely absent.
Anyway for this video I will be playing the ps2 version. I hope you enjoy!!

@@thegungerbrospodcast7671 naw budokai 3 had beam struggles which was a great surprise when they happened that imo made the game incredibly fun just my opinion I had both or if they made a budokai 4 with the beam struggle take off the dragon rush, the turbo mechanic in infinite world and an update with roster like budokai tenkaichi 3 would be sick unfortunately the other thing that made the game for me was the epic coppied soundtrack even though they were considered piracy tacks I still like em

small comment on the stuff that didn't happen: the game was intended to have a story mode section for all characters, but due to time constraints, only the available 11 were finalized, if Trunks' story had been finished and implemented, then he'd have fought broly and warned them about him as a side quest. i know this because i used to make mods for this game a decade ago and browsed through the speech bubble text and audio files in the game. there were tons of other stuff planned including for the characters that already have a story mode, which was not implemented (like a scenario where you fuse into gogeta to fight super buu instead of vegetto). most of the capsules that you unlock by buying out most of the store were intended to be unlocked this way (gogeta from the previous example)

While the video is probably a bit long for most people's tastes, I actually really enjoyed the format of "Let's hyper edit a playthrough and explain mechanics in the order in which they actually appear during that playthrough". Been on a DBZ Game kick lately, so when I saw a video about the first really good DBZ game I ever played, I was like "Gotta watch that!" Subbed.

I used to play this all the time as a kid, my first ever introduction to DBZ. The game surprisingly has more depth than meets the eye, for example pressing guard while holding a charged attack would cancel into block allowing you to do a followup afterward while they are still recovering. Good video!

DBZB3 was and still is the best DBZ game honestly in my opinion its one of the best fighting games I've ever played the choreography is awesome tapping X to doge kick and punches was so satisfying I used to pause the game frame by Frame just to see each dodge animation. Fights in DBZB3 where INTENSE and actually felt like DBZ. A fight between to skilled player was awesome to watch.

For me, Tenkaichi 3 but Budokai 3 holds close second. As a game Budokai 3 is better, but as a DBZ Simulator Tenkaichi 3 ticks literally every box you could want as a DBZ fan with an incomprehensibly large roster of bottom-barrel scraped characters to make the most complete DBZ game of all time.

Omg this was such a nostalgia trip down memory lane. I loved this game back when I was a kid and hearing the ost and seeing the gameplay again after so long was so fun. The game certainly has many flaws like the way they aren't consistent with map appearances and character designs (literally destroyed namek in goku's cutscenes in his campaign just has a red filter slapped onto normal namek and there are many times where the character's gi and outfits should be battle damaged but aren't) but as a kid who only cared about gameplay, I didn't mind to much. I like the way you went over the controls and many features. It was a good refresher for me since I forgot a lot about it. For an early 2000s game, it was pretty good! Your editing is incredible. Holy cow I found myself laughing so many times at so many of the jokes and clips from stuff like TFS. It was very engaging and entertaining so I'm happily going to subscribe. This series you're doing seems super interesting and I can't wait to see the other game's you review 😀

Tomba! (Or Tombi! depending on your region), a PS1 classic. It and it's sequel are criminally underrated and 100% deserve a retrospective look. Just happened to click on this video, had no idea who you were. As far as feedback goes, a little more excitement will go a long way (not suggesting anything over the top or out of character, just something a little less on the border of monotone) to blowing you and this series as a concept up! 100% have a new sub.

I like how well you explained how the game works and i like that this video has humor. I still have that game ever since the day or month it came out and i enjoyed that game. The sound reactions that characters make when they take damage is hilarious and goofy. It's awesome that you maxed out all of Goku's stats. I haven't maxed out any of the characters. I'm not too fond with the Dragon Rush system. I would like to see you cover either Dragonball Z Kakarot or Dragonball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi or Dragonball Z Burst Limit or Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3, or Dragonball Xenoverse 2. @@johntravolta8389 I only just heard of infinite world while researching this video. I wish I had known about it when it came out, thought it was released 2008 which is really late for a ps2 game.

Here's an idea for a game you can cover in the future, Jade Cocoon 2! It's a monster collecting game for the PS2, sorta like Pokemon. It's a great game if you're into that sort of thing.

#NostalgicVibes🙆‍♂️☯️✌Despite all the DBZ games that have come out over the years, BT1 has the most badass and authentic Intro of all of DBZ games of the Franchise. BT2 and BT3 in my opinion still remains the most Unique and the best DBZ games in terms of content, quality and fanservices. And from the gameplay perspective aspects, these DBZ games that I mentioned are very close to the anime itself because of the Vibe and Charm, I don't know how to describe it but it was, and still is the most Unique DBZ experience you could have with the combat factor. (- Sheer amount de of characters - Transformations mid-battle (powering up and down) - Fusions mid-battle - Fast gameplay that has that "woah" feel - Tons of extra content - Story mode covering all sagas + movies - What If sagas - Shenron having permanent impact on game (character unlocks and whatnot) - Great tournaments that rotate availability - Edit characters with items (buffs) - 5v5 battles - Really Great and Epic Soundtracks - Destroyable environments - Entire stages could be blown up into their "destroyed" alternatives - Mission 100 being a great challenge - Artwork is 10/10 - Sound effects are great - Combat feels heavy and satisfying) Only Budokai 3, Infinite World, Raging Blast 1 and 2 and PSP DBZ games are still considered also very solid DBZ games, also the hidden gem that a lot of DBZ fans missed from PS2 Era of DBZ games is "Super Dragon Ball Z" which is also a real Unique and DBZ game, especially for the different gameplay aspects perspective. ✌☯️
