22:15 Faker actually has a driver's license and he drives a car (IIRC, it was from his old BMW sponsorship). He sometimes takes his old teammates out on a drive or to go eat hotpot. His current teammates also mentioned in a few T1 vids about Faker driving a car, and there was in fact at least one T1 vid with Faker vlogging while driving a car as he's going somewhere.

Monte is absolutely spot on with the entire PlayVS debacle, Riot completely killed any interest at the high school level by implementing such a horrible program in the first place. It should ALWAYS have been free for the schools, and I hadn't even realized that Riot had invested in PlayVS prior to the exclusivity deal, which makes the entire thing all that much scummier. I personally know a couple people who started a company called High School Esports League back before the whole deal came about, and they were able to grow it into a $100 million business connecting high schools and colleges together to provide STEM scholarships for players. Of course, when Riot implemented the PlayVS deal, they were forced to stop running anything related to LoL, which is very unfortunate as it was their favorite game and the entire reason they started the company to begin with. Perhaps if Riot had been more intelligent in the way they marketed their product to a younger generation, the LCS and honestly the NA server as a whole wouldn't be in the state that it's in.

It's really unfortunate they've gone this route. There were a lot of crazy characters in the early days of League -- before Riot closed their irongrip on the scene -- who were rotated out quickly but could have been sort of honorably mentioned in a true celebration of the history of the game. And then there's the idea players like Diamondprox won't even be on the radar of this Hall for years and the whole thing is a fucking sham. When LFN finds the funding, I'd love to see real Hall of Fame content.

Top lane has to be Smeb I would think. I could see people trying to make an argument for Impact or Khan. I would also probably argue for Xiaohu in mid first, xPeke peaked early but Xiaohu has been near the top for a while.

@@squeektheweek6949 Yeah so as I said this was specifically for chronological order. That means you're essentially saying no one before xiaohu or smeb desserves a spot at all. I would probbably put smeb as the top laner in the 2015-2017 draft. But the reason why I put xPeke is cause he is essentially the first 'Great'. And flame is cause he was so defining to toplane. Unfortunatly, I've done alot less looking into the 2013-2014 era due to lack of interest. The ones from that time that stand out are faker, pawn, rookie, Deft, Rekkles, Uzi.

Here's the thing, I've spent a few hundred bucks on League (which is ok over 10 years for entertainment) but then a Chinese company requires kernel access to my computer and I have to uninstall (because I have half a brain) and it's gone. Who says what they're going to do after I (don't) drop $500 on a skin. I'd have to set up my router to have a dedicated league machine to not have access to the rest of my LAN to play this game. Nah.

Here is how Riot ends up selling the LEC to ESL to fans. Winter finals is in Kato Spring finals is Cologne Summer Finals in Riad. All huge stadium events in cities and countries ESL has massive ties too and can rent out for cheap, and suddenly LEC is back to lan finals. Meanwhile in the LCS, we get Dallas, New York, or one of the other ESL venues for them to use. And they can loop it into their CS/Dota circuit.

As an average pleb I do have a bit of mixed feelings about the part where monte talks about how league is balanced around normie play not like dota where allegedly it's proplay focused. I stopped playing couple years ago because I felt Riot doesnt give two flying fucks about your average player experience anymore and game is now balanced around proplay. That's what it felt like and still feels like when I listen my friends who still occasionally play and rant on voice call. I think it's more that Riot just has no direction and has no idea what they are doing. They are not doing good job balancing it around plebs & they are not doing good job balancing it around proplay. Just incompetence. Dota probably just has better people at the helm.
