The 93 Corvette is a ZR-1. They only made 448 of them that year. I was appalled when they took that car and put a fugly body on it and it was supposed to be his dream build. They butcher everything they touch. There is no way they get the prices they want for the garbage they produce.

The actual work we did on the cars was, IMHO at least average. The paint work was exceptional, as we had a few really good paint and body guys. I was the main metal work/rust repair guy...and we had a good mechanic. Beyond that, we had a lot of wanna be hacks that THOUGHT they had skills...

This whole thing is such a strange scenario. It's Gotham Garage because he was building bootleg Batmobiles and at some point got busted? Time constraints and filming are generally the excuse for poor workmanship, but everything is very rough even the basic execution. I get the idea from the POS dually the leader drives that he's a rat rod, rat fink era kind of guy. Welding trash to trash is kind of an art, in his visions. The level of self assuredness before during and after the completion of these, vehicles, is just strange.

I film SoCal car shows and events. This past weekend I shot the McCormicks auction in Palm Springs. The '62 Cadillac Sedan Deville with the roof cut off they built was at the auction. I didn't catch what it sold for, but you can look it up when the auction company updates the website. Someone connected to the show has brought cars that supposedly sold on the show to the Pomona Swap Meet to try to sell as well. I've filmed a few of them while covering that event.

Just looked, $11k...yikes. How much did they pretend they sold that for ?
@MikeFrankovich5 ай бұрын
@@Raptor3388 Yup. It went for $11,660 plus buyer premium. An article I found says Gotham Garage valued the car at $12K when they got it as part of a trade and then supposedly sold it for $24.5K after modifying it. Cars with the roof cut off are generally looked down upon because of a lack of structural integrity. Factory built convertibles have stronger frames to make up for the absence of a roof.

The crazy thing here -- I haven't seen most of the builds you mention here but my criticism of the season 1 builds and the show line up 100% with what you've noticed here. Guessing they never changed. The fake drama (part of a lot of car shows) I can kind of put up with if the craftsmanship is good -- but it's terrible. That T-Bird with the chrome wrap is a monstrosity. This is typical dunning-Krueger -- these people don't know how bad they are. I'm a rank armatures with the stuff I've done but at least I know it and would never even imagine charging someone to ruin Sheetmetal like these dumbasses. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

I've always been a fan of the show. That being said, some of the ideas and choices made me start skipping episodes. The first example, the Pinto, I had to laugh at. Who asks tens of thousands of dollars for a car that you were too cheap to mini tub? Those fender flares are ridiculous. As far as the concept car goes, I never understood anyone paying that amount of money for a reskinned used car. If I were that rich, I'd want everything new. I'd also demand better finishing of the fiberglass. I'm surprised that the inside of the doors looked like that. Everything should be smooth on a 200k car. The other thing that comes to mind is the aluminum tape holding the dash plates together on the Futura car. I'm wondering if they used anything else afterwards. Just seemed temporary, but you never know. Oh.... am I the only one that felt the 4 door to 2 door Dodge conversion was done poorly on the front? I was hoping for a different front end to be graphed onto it off of an older dodge. It looks more like an afterthought to me. Now, back to more Constance.

News flash, these shows are all staged. The guy from Bad Chad still owns most of the cars that “ sold “ on the show. I have seen a 55 Chevy that was built by Kounts Kustoms, it was ok, not great, he’s been sued multiple times. Fast and Loud, that moron wasn’t even in the car business before that show. Dave Kindig tried to sell a car as a Boyd Coddington car and got busted. About 90% of what you see on those shows is fake. But the cars are cool.
@Raptor33885 ай бұрын
The only show that had a semblance of realism was Fantomworks. The drama was obviously staged, but it looked like a real shop, with realistic time frames, and the work looked allright even though they really didn't show much between the disassembly and the finished car.
@jimmyhorton82975 ай бұрын
@@Raptor3388 , as long as you go into any of those shows knowing that most of the stuff you see on tv is fake, you’re fine. I’m sure all of the shops have built nice cars, I know Kindig has, Richard Rawlings is giving away a really nice truck right now, and Fantomworks posts videos on KZfaq from time to time, Bad Chad has a KZfaq channel now. I’m sure the Texas Metal guy is still building cars. You just gotta know that if it’s not a 250,000 dollar build for tv, you probably aren’t going to get the same quality.

But, it was still a car that beat Porsche and Lotus in the desert. You really don't have to be a professional car builder to see everything they make is trash. They rely heavily on a water jet to cut fancy metal pieces to accent the cars. Their concept car was a joke. It was nothing more than a homebrew kit cat. It may look "cool" but it was still a used vette.

I absolutely hate all of those ugly water jet badges. Thanks for watching

Well if anyone has looked at his personal truck they would know he’s a hack

Such terrible workmanship, they ought to be embarrassed of themselves, brutal.

I know, how could anyone step back and say yeah that's a good job. The third video will have the worst builds. Thanks for watching

I quit watching that show because the builds were so bad and seemed so fake. The alleged “engine builder” was the only redeeming quality.

I thought it was funny because in the first few episodes they had someone come in to show her how to build the engine for the vw bus. Thanks for watching

As always, they look good from afar but far from good.
