I agree with this theory, but with a few differences. I take evidence all the way from chapter 5, and my theory is one that he was human from the start. Theory: Henry is the TRUE Bendy! Watching a few let’s play’s of the entire game of Bendy and the ink machine, something occurred to me. In chapter 5, Alice said that the longer you’re in the ink the more it can claim you. Throughout the entire game, Henry has had to trudge through gallons and gallons of ink. By chapter 2, I imagine that Henry is still humanoid, he is barely changed at all, so Sammy says we look familiar probably because he recognizes us as Henry. But when we see Sammy again in chapter 5, he is shouting at us and screaming at us about betrayal, and how we said he would be free. All of this together leads me to believe one thing… Do you remember in chapter 1, how Henry had a drawing of Bendy on his workstation? The one with the sticky note next to it that said “no“? I believe that by chapter 5, Henry has transformed to look just like Bendy! And I do not mean the demon version of Brandy, no. I mean that Henry looks like the cartoon version of Bendy. The Bendy that they had wanted to create the first time! Henry IS the REAL BENDY!

My personal theory isn't that Henry is Bendy right now but that he was meant to be the perfect Bendy and will likely become that perfect Bendy later. And that's why Ink Bendy is so intent on catching him; if using the innards from a perfect toon would allow an imperfect toon to become perfect, then it's likely Joey thinks consuming Henry would complete his form. After all, Joey was established as a perfectionist relating to designs so he would not stand for staying in such a horribly off-model form. I disagree on the Sammy not recognizing Henry thing; it's important to keep in mind that his sanity was a bit messed up and the in-character Twitter event established him as having trouble with memory after becoming an ink monster. So that's the likely reason he only vaguely recognized Henry. Also, saying Henry never spoke to other characters is incorrect because he talked to Boris at various points in Chapter 3. Boris is the only silent character. Of course there's the possibility he really is just thinking everything because he can't talk but I have a lot of doubts he wouldn't realize he's not human right away since that would be incredibly obvious. Especially if his memory got reset back to arriving at the studio like you theorize. Lastly, Alice readily deciding to make Henry help her makes me doubt he's Bendy yet because she would not take kindly to him, especially with any possible "tainted ink" on him. Her addressing him as Henry and saying she knows who he is is more an indication to me that she knows who he's meant to be rather than knowing what he is now. And again, I highly doubt Henry wouldn't be aware his body's different and nothing indicates that he doesn't see himself as human. There's a good chance Henry arrived at the studio well after the letter was sent and missed the initial ritual and thus wasn't turned. I do agree however that the incomplete Bendy model was likely supposed to be the player model. That's been my thought for a while. But I personally think Henry would still have a connection with the version of Bendy with a mouth since the animated version of Bendy still gives off the same vibe as the rejected concept drawing. In fact, I personally think the cutouts are meant to reflect Joey's vision but both the concept and the cartoon (which were likely done while Henry was still working at the studio) reflect Henry's. The cartoon version of Bendy actually always reminded me of how Henry acts so I always took it as representing Henry and his ordeals in the abandoned studio (and the fact we cut from Bendy being cornered by an imposing entity straight to Henry fleeing from Ink Bendy -also an imposing entity- is no coincidence. Notice how Bendy also has that same attitude in the shorts. Neither Bendy nor Henry are phased by creepy environments and are only startled by a small thing in the environment (the skeleton randomly popping up for Bendy and the Bendy cutout randomly popping out for Henry as he leaves the Ink Machine room). Both only become frightened enough to run when they perceive a possible immediate danger (angry Boris for Bendy and angry Ink Bendy for Henry). And, very significant to me, both have a very chipper attitude and rather than stay upset when something is impeding them (Boris stealing Bendy's lunch, Joey taking advantage of Henry's work) they simply find a way to get some satisfaction out of the situation (Bendy pranking Boris, Henry putting his all into making a new character that people will enjoy). Where Joey's main connection to Bendy is to cheat death and being extremely possessive to the point the character's image became lifeless, Henry poured his all into making Bendy a lively and loveable character. And that's why I think you're right that Henry is Bendy. I just think he's not physically turned into Bendy yet but he will be somewhere in the next two chapters.

This seems similar to my own theory. My theory though is that Henry isn't Bendy--YET. We have yet to see Chapter 5 But at the end of Chapter 4, we see that there are two vers. of Alice and Boris-- Allison and Tom. There is also an Ink Demon. The Bendy we run from. I made a theory (not on youtube owo) that Henry may end up in Chapter 5 as a "Good Bendy". Allison Angel is Allison Pendel, the replacement of Susie. Tom is Thomas Connor, (idk much about him yet), and Joey is (possibly) Ink Demon Bendy. Susie is Alice. Boris may just be a Boris, explaining why he especially doesn't speak (Joey/Ink Bendy doesnt cause for one, his mouth is stuck in a smile, 2 he is inky all over his face, 3 hes especially hostile, and 4, Bendy never had a voice in Cartoons *as far as I know, one is never exactly mentioned, same for Boris.*) And Henry was a previous Animator, and probably the person who drew a cuter Bendy concept from Chapter 1. So I wouldn't be surprised if Henry isn't a Bendy YET. (Please keep in mind this is a theory!)

That theory is possible. Just to go with it, the name Henry sounds similar to Bendy. Possibly meaning that Henry was going to be the original/placeholder name for the dancing demon but Joey didn’t approve. Possibly going towards why Henry is the only character who’s last name is unknown. But that doesn’t make sense. That theory was already bumped for many reasons.

My theory is that until the ending when Henry meets Joey drew everything before that is all just a dream.

My theory is that the ritual's ink contains the side effect of losing memory. Henry remembers everything. Sammy slightly forgets him because of this. I'll probably get more proof in the future.

What if henry still is normal. That is proven by Alice angel knowing who he is. And sammy could have lost some parts of his mind or he was to focused on bendy (senpai) setting him free. I actually really like this theory! Barring the point that several people have brought up of Henry full on talking to other characters, I think it makes pretty good sense. The backstory and happy life we as the player know Henry had would have been a delusion of sorts that bendy!Henry was "born" with: his immunity to the ink like slendy!bendy would be attributed to him being another version of Bendy: the fact that many characters and mobs aren't hostile to him until he is hostile to them (such as the town of shambling ink creatures that only attack when Sammy is killed) would be to their lower perception skills and intelligence, thinking he is slendy!bendy: plus, I'm pretty sure canonically, Henry left before the ink machine came to town, yet in chapter one, he recognizes it instantly. There's also one really big point not mentioned in video. At the end, Henry walks into slendy!bendy's hideaway and an audio log starts playing. In the audio log, for all intents and purposes, it sounds like Joey is speaking directly to Henry; calling him by name, and speaking differently than he does with everyone else. (Conveniently, all this and what I'm about to say is also why I don't really buy into the Joey=Bendy theory.) Joey talks about Bendy, and how far they have come with him, and speaks about Bendy as if they have already made one before and know how to defeat one. And they have, as evidenced by one of the more hidden audio logs in either chapter 4 or 5, where someone (i think wally) talks about something that is believed to be bendy that has an otherworldly nature or the like. Canonically, by this time, Henry would have been long gone from the studio: so either this is evidence of Joey going mad, or he is taking to Henry's corpse as he is about to reanimate him as a bendy. (Note: Joey was talking to Henry in the audio log, but no one talked back.) This would have been right before the studio fell apart, leaving the origins of slendy!bendy and Joey's dissapearance unknown, which I think the creators wanted. When the studio fell apart, i thinkthat perhaps there was some critical malfunction with the machine,, greater than the spilling Ink, and the workers there (whether previously turned and maybe hidden away like Susie!Alice or just poor souls) were trapped in the studio to slowly become ink creatures or one of the cartoons. Perhaps Henry was the factor that made the machine malfunction. At this point the only two people who could have been created were Susie!Alice and the failed Bendy: Susie was corrupted as a human, and failed bendy was incomplete. Henry was a good, hardworking guy who wanted the best to his coworkers and strove for his dreams, but did also make sure he was cared for himself. If Joey somehow put him in a coma like state or straight up killed him when Henry was planning to leave, than the hopes for a peaceful life would still be etched in Henry's mind (or if he was in a coma, then his dreams (do comatose people dream?)) Then when the reanimation process is begun, the already faulty machine has a "perfect" material to work with and a simple template in Henry's original design. The machine can't function, and everything then goes from worse, to horrible. Therefore, when Henry is sooner or later reanimated, the other toons are already settled in, as you discussed. He still thinks he's Henry, believing his delusions of his happy life. How slendy!Bendy came to rule and how Joey escaped are still unexplained, but I really dont think those were meant to be in the first game: we'll see how The Dark Revival expands the lore. So Henry is a prototype toon of the first Bendy design, believing he is human with a happy life outside. This is why, when he is attacked, his "blood" is black and inky instead of red, why others are either hostile or neutral until given reason to be hostile, and why Slendy!Bendy acts how he dies initially: at first he is working off of his primal instincts of "something is moving, kill it", then he takes a more curious look at Henry, continually popping up to see if he can find him, then openly hunting and trying to kill him by chapter 5: Henry looks a lot like him, and its confusing Bendy. I might just make a fanfic of this

Bendy and Henry they rhyme so my theory is that Henry is the Ink angel and Bendy is the Ink demon , It's because Henry's last name is Stein so He created bendy so he's not a human and Bendy's last name is Stein "Bendy Stein"

Why would Sammy try to sacrifice someone who looks like Bendy? It would be easy enough to see the similarity in character. And why would Alice allow him to approach and be talked to? Besides the fact that he would resemble the demon she hates, she's disgusted by the ink beings in the form of the Butcher Gang, saying they have "tainted ink" that she doesn't want to touch. Also, while many of Henry's lines could very well be thoughts, there are a few that seem surely intended as speech, such as when he calls out to Sammy down the hall in Chapter 2 or asks Boris questions in the beginning of Chapter 3.

I've looked at some comments and they seem confused. Henry is like cartoon bendy irl (in the theory at least) and Joey is the demon bendy, wanting to replace/get rid of (etc.) Henry

I actually believe this theory because in chapter 5 there is more evidence. Notice how when you meet Sammy again he says you betrayed him, but you were tied up. If you listen closely he says "I'M GONNA CUT THAT SMILE RIGHT OFF YOUR FACE!!!" but why would you be smiling? He ALSO says that he gave you everything while he gave you nothing and tried to sacrifice you. You might have been transformed into bendy after walking through so much ink.

I thought that Henry not reacting to say his arm when he picks up the axe was a problem, but it works-ish. It explains his durability (him falling when there is a flood of ink is still hard), his magical head injury (as a cartoon, he could get knocked out and be totally fine), and even being hit by enemies not ink based still causes ink splatters. The issue comes from the letter. He either knows he's a cartoon and knows the ink machine (hence him not needing to ask what Joey wanted to see in his mind because he knew), or he doesn't know he's ink, still think he's Henry and would freak when he sees his hands.

It could very well be possible, after all the ink that was used appears to show supernatural properties, reanimating the dead being one of them. Of course if Henry had been reborn as the first concept of Bendy and returned to the studio 30 years ago, it could mean something went wrong with the ritual the first time and he escaped from the studio but somehow lost his memory of that incedent.

I think this theory is insane!...but man!, that would change everything about the game. Besides that I think this theory is pretty well made, and maybe we might be given an answer.

Actually, all this time later after the release of Chapter 5, there's even more evidence that this theory is true. During the final battle with Sammy Lawrence, he screams to Henry that he lied to him, that he gave up everything for him. Who else could he be talking about but Bendy? It would also explain why Tom didn't trust Henry at first, opting to leave him behind when the Ink Demon came knocking on their door.

That's actually true, if a human Henry would have fell from that height in chapter 1 he would have died or at least brake his legs, but none of these happen. And we all know that cartoons falling from heights and not dying is usual. Now THAT changes the whole setting of the game

Even after Chapter 5, I'm still supporting this theory. Especially because of things that Allison says to you in Chapter 5. "Set us free." We know that everywhere it says "He will set us free" and we know Sammy strongly believed that Bendy was going to save him--but what if he got confused? Henry Bendy I know it's a bit of a stretch, but I'm thinking that the ink corruption + Bendy manipulation caused by Joey to drive Sammy insane might have changed things in his head. Yes, Bendy would save them, because Henry is Bendy. Henry is supposed to set everyone free, he's destined to do so, but he ends up just looping things, which makes it all worse. As pointed out before, too, the game is called Bendy and the Ink Machine, and I remember thinking "You know for a game called Bendy and the Ink Machine, Bendy sure doesn't show up much." But if Henry is Bendy, then, it could be that he's trying to repair the damage... I have another theory also that Henry might actually also be the Ink Bendy. My reasoning for this? We know it was originally created without a soul, but what if it could have been given a soul later on? What if in being sacrificed for the ritual, Henry was not only absorbed into Ink Bendy, but also, fragments of him ended up in the ink, and it created another person? One of the reasons I'm thinking this is because of the fact that Joey has a tape in Bendy's throne room--and that tape is addressed to Henry. From a video game perspective, I suppose it makes sense, but from a lore perspective, what is it doing in there? How did Joey put it there? I think that not only was Joey playing videos of Bendy to try and make the character more... IN character, but also the recording was meant for Benry (Bendy Henry), to keep hold of himself, to STOP himself. Though these are just some ideas, because I really don't know. I'm frustrated with the ending of Chapter 5 because there are some enormous holes that are still bothering me, and it's annoying to not be able to piece them together.

This may be the reason why ink comes out of him when you get hit. And when he dies he is in one of the puddles as explained by Alise angel in chapter 3. But Henry can get out of the puddles just fine. he swims in the puddles to a near bendy stague. then after that it almost looks like he came from the ground because of the ink coming out of him.

what if henry was actually Joey Drews brother, think about it we never get to see his last name, so he could be Henry drew, and founded the company with his brother or his brother founded the company, Joey drew studios, which then he allowed henry to work at the studio as an employee. so Joey could be Henrys older brother or even half-brother. I have an idea that comes from chapter 5. I think that Henry slowly became a Bendy clone over the period of the game, and by the time chapter 5 came he looked fully like Bendy. During chapter 5 with the fight with Sammy, Sammy says “You said I’d be free”, “I gave you everything” and “You lied to me”, and I think that’s because Sammy mistook Henry for Bendy since he looked like him? That would mostly explain Tom’s cautiousness and aggression towards Henry as well because he looks like Bendy.

Didn’t Henry leave before the ink machine was finished? Because when he sees the ink machine for the first time he says “So this is the ink machine huh? Wonder how you turn it on.” If he was still working there when it was built he probably would’ve already known what it looked like, therefore wouldn’t of said something suggesting that although he was there long enough to hear ideas, he probably left before it was built. So if he hasn’t even seen it yet, than I really don’t believe that Henry is Bendy. He wouldn’t have been anywhere near the ink machine if he wasn’t at the studio, so he couldnt have been made into Bendy in the first place. Plus in the beginning of chapter one, it didn’t show him waking up. It showed him walking inside the studio. He know how he wakes up, he gets knocked out twice xd. This theory is really out there. It would definitely be cool if it was true, and there is evidence. But there’s a lot of evidence against it too. I love this idea though! Your theory’s are always interesting. :P

After viewing chapter 4, I'm starting to become inclined to believe that this theory is likely. Especially with all the updates of the chapters. And when Henry gets hurt from Chapter 2 and on, we see ink forming around our screen. I had thought that it was ink from the monsters making contact on us. But now I believe it's Henry actually getting hurt because he is a form of Bendy. Consider the reload screen when Henry dies in the new updates. We have to walk through a wormhole of ink. And I believe there's the sound of ink and visual of it as we come out of the Bendy statues as well. If Henry is truly a copy of Bendy, then it's fitting that he is coming out of the statues. I think that Henry came to the studios as a human. But when he has the original flashbacks of the the Ink Machine, Bendy, and the wheelchair. That's what he remembers before and after being reanimated. It's interesting to also note that he is having more visual hallucinations. A side effect of being a Ink creature, I think. Also when we saw all of the Ink folks, if we looked like a version of Bendy. They would be quiet in our presence. I think because they worship him? And if we look...perhaps, a nicer version of Bendy. Then they might feel less threatened vs. the Ink Demon himself. One last thing, we are probably the rejected version of Bendy. And I think SHB is right, we don't really have a mouth. It's all within his head or we might be believing that we are talking. (When we aren't really. As in talking to Boris.) Anyhow, I'm excited to see more theories based on the huge updates. C:

Before I start, great theory! I don’t think Henry is Bendy. Many reasons- One, obviously we are Henry, we even encounter “our” old desk in the workshop of chapter one. Second, people assume Bendy is Joey, they may be right or wrong. Even the letter saying for Henry to come back to the studio, Bendy could’ve wrote that to lure us back to the studio. Third, we here dialogue from him, its impossible that Bendy is talking, its Henry who is talking. The way you end in Chapter 1, in the flashbacks we see Bendy, so no in my opinion we aren’t Bendy in no way shape or form!

I think Henry was human when he entered the studio. Then the pentagram knocked him out. I think that's when he started turning into a ink character or lost one. He is still able to speak because he is turning into ink slowly. Also when Alice angle said she wanted to be beautiful and said that Henry could understand that, she is probably referring to how ugly Henry looks because he is turning into ink. This is what I think. I just wanted to put out what I think about Henry turning into a monster. I do agree though that he is turning into the Bendy he made though. If that's not the case he is probably turning into a lost one.

Listen I love your videos but this is not believe able. 1. He does call out multiple times during the game. Like the time he I GOTTA GET OUTAA HERE. 2. A lot of ges don't inculed the charcters feet when you look down. Plus this is a indie game. They don't have the time or money to add little details like that. 3. Sammy could of just said that cause he remembers you. I mean if you had have 2 bosses you should remember their faces. 4. You can say all you want about your timeline. But it is pretty suri it happend when you got the letter. It is fact. 5. If he was there before the game starts why would he say in chapter 2 " When did this place got this big" 6. Would just see has hands and or legs and see he is made of ink? 7. Why would Sammy try to kill his overlord to his overlord. Killing a bendy to get a bendy seems like trading a dollar for 4 quarters. 8. Why wpuld Alice get mad if she knows why your here. If he was for the ritural would she mad at Joey or Sammy for killing and then reanimating her? 9. In his audio log he talks about Linda. It is probaly his wife or girlfriend. Would it be that she would call the cops. Search the place and get Herny back. This is too hard for me to believe. Edit: 10 this is the the best peice evidence is that when herny dies INK covers him. Would ink just go in his ink body if this theory is true.

Could that be the reason why the lost ones and Sammy attacked Henry? I mean think about it in chapter 4 (I think it is) we see the lost ones and they don't harm Henry until chapter 5. Sammy comes out saying how he feels abandoned and betrayed, he also says how he trusted him but he left him to rot it sounds like Sammy was talking to Bendy while attacking Henry like if he was Bendy. Once Sammy was defeated the lost ones attacked Henry, Alice, and Boris. Could it be that the lost ones feel threatened bc of the way they were treated by the main three? I mean there are two Alice Angels and Boris. Alice Angel (Susie) was using and destroying other employees to be beautiful and she also used them to create evil boris. Also the lost ones could be killed when bendy arrives since bendy destroys everything in his way. So bc of those three the lost ones feel threaten by Henry, Alice Angel (Alisson), and Tom Boris.. Bc if you notice there are two characters each.. Two Alice Angels, Boris and Tom Boris, and possibly two bendys bc of Henry and Joey Drew. What do you think?

I think Bendy and the Ink Machine is a dream because we never se Henrys face and there is stuff happening in the game that would be impossible irl

In chapter 6/the archives you can see a bendy called “concept bendy” who is the unused face because when the meatly was making it he ended up scraping it before he even finished the design, you can only see the full model in the archives.

What if bendy is henry, he dies at ritual and become bendy, we play as Joey Drew, and when bendy gets killed, he is back to real life in human form, in the kitchen with Joey Drew, and he keep him in a loop
