I had hypnotherapy prior to starting my Masters degree as I had a phobia that was affecting my day to day life. I am pleased to say that not only do I now have greater control over my phobia, but it also gave me a huge amount of confidence and self-esteem. Now, a year later, I have finished my Masters degree in clinical psychology. I would definitely recommend hypnotherapy to anyone! :)

Hi Beth, that is fantastic. I loved reading your positive comment. Same here. Hypnotheraphy helped me and my Dad. I am currently trying to find a good Hypnotherapist to help our daughter. Boost her confidence, which was destroyed by State Education. Dyslexic children are creative souls and need a kind Education System. Your story gives me hope for our daugher. Thank you Beth. Hypnotherapy is really effective in overcoming things like anxiety, insomnia and phobias. Quitting smoking too!

I've done talk therapy with therapists in the past and although the therapy helped me understand the reasons for my emotional triggers, it wasn't until I tried hypnosis that I really started to feel better. Hypnosis works! I would suggest to anyone interested in trying hypnosis to go to a hypnotherapist or a certified hypnotist who does hypnosis on clients full time...rather than trying hypnosis with a therapist who only uses hypnosis only once in awhile in their practice. I think having both therapy and hypnosis is ideal for inner healing work.

My therapist explained to me that the memories weren’t necessarily true as in sensory memory or events, but they are “emotional memories” and I think it helped me understand. Anyway, hypnotherapy helped me with my anxiety, something that talk therapy took years to achieve. Hypnotherapy fixed it in just one session.

That is fantastic. Some people can talk and talk about their problems. But it does not go away. With Hypnotheraphy bad memories are locked away in a box so you can get on with your life. It worked for me and my Dad. I am now trying to find a good Hypnotherapist to help our lovely gifted daughter. State Education destroyed her confidence. But I know I can fix it with the right Hypnotherapist. There is always hope!

Yes, Patrick, and sometimes one can go even deeper than meditation. The point is that we are fully aware within the relaxed state. And that all hypnosis is really self hypnosis.

Thanks for taking up my suggestion for this topic, Kati! I've been undergoing hypnotherapy for the last 6 years and it has made a big impact on my life and assisted in my being able to lose 170 lbs. My hypnotherapist has been a godsend in my life.

Hypnotherapy helped me get out of a toxic relationship. I agree with you that it should be in conjunction to psychotherapy and a licensed psychotherapist.

Question: I’ve been looking into hypnotherapy and CBT for quite some time now. Several months ago, I collapsed randomly, and since, my life has been put on pause as I’m scared to do daily things. Being 24, the last 7 months have just flown by and been wasted. Im hopefully starting cognitive hypnotherapy next week, and although I’m quite excited, my brain is still telling me that the way I feel, will always be. Does this stuff actually work??

If you are emotional you can try it. To me, going to Church and pray are same thing as hypnosis, if you are into it, and it's free.

Gym and good habits on food and sleep help a lot,if you feel really down.Start working out,don't eat junk food and try working on your mind from there.you will feel a lot better.all the best

Hi Geisi, how my heart breaks for you. I hope you find someone good to help you. Some Hypnotherapists don't work. But I had a really good one. Sadly, he died. I only went for 3 months. Best thing I ever did. Now I am trying to find a good Hypnotherapist for our daughter who feels like you. State Education destroyed her confidence. Please do let me know how you are 1 year from now.

I remember a self-help-book I read once. It was called "the courage to heal" and it actually had a lot of helpful advice in terms of little writing exercises to help you process the abuse you suffered through as a kid/teen. However, I remember there being a section where the author clearly over-reached. She essentially said something to the effect of, there is no "false memory", because why would your brain show you something so traumatizing, when it didn't actually happen? ... But there are a lot of mental illnesses (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, delusions etc.) that make you believe all sorts of things (also painful things) that aren't actually true. The problem with such statements is that they might end up wrongfully accusing someone of a crime, with zero evidence. AND they might harm someone who is already suffering mentally additionally, which is totally unnecessary. Most therapists believe that if your childhood brain suppressed the memory of sexual abuse, there might be a good purpose for that, since it really might harm you too much to bring that memory back. I don't know whether that's entirely true, but I can see how it's "safer".

The repressed memory thing is definitely an important topic. In my experience, your subconscious is able to recognize when you're ready/able/safe to start unpacking it. In my case my brain waited until I was in a very supportive environment and living in a much safer home. Then my repressed memories started to come back. And they were memories that were able to be corroborated by others. Some weren't, but for the most part many people could confirm them. The key is asking for confirmation in a way that doesn't lead others to the conclusion. E. G. Asking if they liked your baby sitter. Then asking follow-up questions.

As for the memory issue, I have never had false memories from hypnosis, and I can remember every single thing my therapist and I go through under hypnosis when I wake up. I have even recovered some memories of a traumatic experience to help me process what happened, and I know for a fact that they are real because the witnesses verified them.

State Education in the UK can be so bullying. Destroying childen's confidence and making them feel worthless. It is just not on. So thank you Cellogirl. I will have to check your channel out. Hypnotherapy was extremely useful for me, I had some deep seated childhood trauma and severe self esteem issues that were greatly solved due to hypnotherapy in conjunction with regular talk therapy in order to process those emotions.

I wouldn’t think so... because you have to be present and mindful of your body to get into the trance like state. But I would ask someone who practices hypnotherapy full time, because I’m not a hypnotherapist. Xox

So take what im about to say with a grain of salt or a heaping as im not a professional, I do however suffer from disassociating and other things and i practice hypnosis recreationally both on myself and others. I'd say look into it, hypnosis is very personal and id say looking to see if files or youtube videos for trance wont actually tell you if you can be tranced or not, see someone thats both qualified as both a psychologist and a hypnotherapist. similar to how meditation breathing and other things can be grounding or semi helpful id say it could and can be helpful. and if a drop trigger could be instilled and strengthened could be very useful. furthermore hypnosis is more effective if the subjects state is incorporated into the trance so if youre upfront and share about maybe some of the not so scary parts about your experience of being derealised to your hypnotherapist different associations that could help might be able to be built.

I'm throwing in my two cents here, if nobody minds... In studying Ericksonian hypnotherapy, I learned a lot of things about trance, hypnosis, and the relationship between the conscious and subconscious mind. What you're describing is, itself, a kind of trance. Ericksonian hypnotherapy relies on three fundamentals: identifying a goal, observing what may be useful toward that goal, and utilizing what has been observed. Any form of trance can be used to help; what makes the difference is in how communication affects your trance. If you're in a constant state of derealization - and this is based on what my instructor has put in his book on hypnotherapy, much of the material for which comes from the Human Givens approach, - it's likely that you're experiencing being in a REM state while you're awake. This can cause all kinds of symptoms, from feelings of unreality, to delusions and hallucinations. Fortunately for you, if hypnotherapy is what you're looking for, recent research shows that the best way to describe hypnosis itself is an activation of the REM state, while you're awake. Essentially, hypnosis is the REM state; it's just that you're awake when it's activated. In this state, depending on your baseline level of receptivity - I was taught that it's not suggestibility that changes due to a trance, but receptivity to suggestion, - and how much this trance increases your receptivity, you might be able to take suggestions really well. Given directly, you may encounter some resistance, but direct suggestions are the way most hypnotherapists go; indirect suggestion is more subtle and takes more finesse and time, in most cases, but it's a good way to bypass resistance

This was so balanced and insightful- you are brilliant. The memory is so complex and hormonally charged and strength of memories are also trauma related. You could uncover something you have seen on TV as a kid or an awful story someone told you when your senses were heightened emotionally or following a trauma or loss. They aren't always real memories of your personal experience just stuff you were aware of around you and your brain didn't see as important enough to retain or catalogue. I would definitely say that while I found hypnosis unhelpful in managing my chronic pain, I'd never question its efficacy BECAUSE it didn't help me. One of my greatest strengths is my memory and capacity for learning and I truly believe that struggling with pain all through my education made those learning connections stronger and improves my recall. But it has also made certain beliefs and experiences so solid in my mind that it has informed my false beliefs about the world and what people think of me; the criticism of weakness, judgement over medications, lack of faith and belief in my symptoms etc etc I don't expect anyone to listen to me now because no one did when I was 13/14 and those memories and experiences have made some strong beliefs that aren't always true.

Hypnosis definitely worked for me. I also did hypnobirthing for my first time in labor. It was a 26 hour process without medication prior to hypnosis therapy and rave of hypnosis!

Hi Kati, great video. I have had hypnotherapy in my 30s. Best thing I ever did. It stopped the broken record that used to haunt me day in and day out. Hypnotheraphy boosted my confidence. I only had three months of Hypnotherapy. And it was the best money ever spent. When my father recommended it, I laughed. I thought it was a total joke. Dad had Hypnotheraphy for pain. He needed a hip replacement and had to work with a bad hip. I saw how he climbed the ladder after hypnotherapy, totally amazing. That in itself made me go. My father suffers with anxiety. Hpynotheraphy helped him get ouf of bed every day to go to work. His doctor supported hypnotherapy. But sadly the NHS (free medical support) here in the UK seems to just want to push drugs, which I find very sad! Dad was beaten up by seven men in his teens, because they wanted his girlfriend and were jealous of him. That still haunts him today. So for me, I am really thankful that I only needed three months of hypnotheraphy, where as he needs it on and off all through his life. I can honestly say hand on heart that Hypnotherapy made me stop concentrating on bad things that had haunted my life. But it made me thankful for what the good things were. And how very lucky I am. I came to realise that there are people far, far, far worse off than I was. I looked at some of the people I love on medications for mental health issues due to abuse and State Education. I feel like the luckiest person on this planet, because I don't suffer with mental illness. That in itself is something to be very, very grateful for. It is the worst illness on earth! I think the reason Hypnotherapy does not work for some people is because it just might not be for them. Or they just do not have the right hypnotherapist!!!! I really like your bubbly nature. How easy it would be to talk to you. So I would like to try something. I am going to email you! Have a super dooper day. And I hope hypnotherapy is one day used by Doctors in the future.

I have a truly horrible experience with hypnotherapy, which I attempted to use as a treatment for depression. The therapist, while I was in a state which I can describe as "sometimes asleep, sometimes meditation-like," told me to visualize a beach and to throw my depressive thoughts as a rock in the ocean, and suggested to "just overcome" certain horrible things that happened to me. Now, after the session ended I felt somewhat relaxed, but I relapsed almost immediately, and when my parents complained about it to the therapist, he called me privately and told me to "just stop being depressed," which tells me a lot about this "degree in psychiatry." He was advertising hypnotherapy as "70%" effective compared to talk therapy, which is "58" percent effective (and I cannot find sources for those claims), and that it can solve any sort of issue in just one session. I personally just think that this is just one of those "alternative" treatments that is easily abused in order to get money out of people. If you look for an easy way to relax yourself, meditate or get a massage. Again, this is just my experience.

This is good timing for this video. Someone in my ACA group has been suggesting I try hypnotherapy for cptsd. I am very skeptical about all of it. I tried with a therapist while in high school for my depression and lack of self esteem. I would feel great and confident afterward, but that feeling didn’t even last through the car ride home.

I tried hypnotherapy once, with a certified psychiatrist. I thought it might help cos traditional therapy did not, as I'm an overanalytical person. But it turns out I can't be brought to a deep state of mental relaxation cos my mind can't stop thinking. I think even when I'm half sleeping. The therapist would talk about water and light, and heaviness, and use music, and I would be laying there thinking how can I stop thinking. I wonder if there is any sort of therapy that can work with people that just think too much. Distracting (manual) activities help, but only while you are doing them.

i've has similar experience. I'm very logical and analytical as well. It did not work on me. Just cause even more confusion and frustration. It also did not help that my hypnotherapist ignore these feelings of mine thinking i will one day get over it as he continued to push harder. I think hypnotherapist might work wonders for some people. I'm just not one of them. When i finally relax it was mainly because of exhaustion n i would just accidentally fall asleep n missed half of the things he said which really didn't help.

Lightning Farron, I did not try it one time. We tried it for months. I would have weekly sessions for about 3 months. And he was a medical doctor, a psychiatrist. Don't know what to tell you there. It did not work in the slightest​.

TheBookCover12. My therapist was not bad. He was very empathetic so I would not blame him. It just did not work for me because I was thinking about every single word he said, and just kept trying for it to work. My body would relax, but my mind won't. I was too present. I could hear all his moves, all his changes of intonation, every single sound in the room, the slightest change in temperature, how my shoes felt on my feet, everything, and the more time passed, the more I wanted it to work, and the more focused I became on all the surroundings and my thought process.

I strongly agree with Kayla here. ‘Mindfulness’ Look it up. The concept is to bring your mind into the present moment, but also to get out of your head. For me it works wonders for depression, aswell as calming anxiety or stress. I had a similar problem all my life. Overthinking everything with that constant conversation in my head. For sure it made me a quick learner and I made mistakes less often, but it was terrible. Many sleepless nights and migranes are the price. The biggest help was when I tried a cold shower and I would really encourage trying it. You take a shower so cold u cant stand it. It’s painful even, and all your sense says “Gtfo right Now!” but u dont. It will build willpower and it’s also healthy for muscle recovery if u plan to work out. Anyway the effect of it is, u will b so incredibly absorbed into fighting the uncomfortable cold, that ur mind cant focus on being a pessimistic asshole like normal lol😁 It really wont b able to focus on anything at all, and that’s the present, cleared mind people like us need. Just that tiny break from it all helped me a ton! Not gonna lie, this will not cure u. It should definitely help tho and I syncerily hope everybody finds peace! I was diagnosed with bipolar at age 11 and told there is no cure, only treatment. Don’t believe that for a second. I’m 22 now and still figuring out this ‘adulting’ thing but it’s progress and I’m 6 months free of drugs. My cure was true love for my lil sister❤️

I have used Hypno Therapy for break through chronic pain. As well as pre surgery last August on my stomach. It truly is a game changer for me in that way. As far as for p.t.s.d or mental health etc., I have not personally used it ... So I am unsure about success. But everything you said made tons of sense and I agree.

I’ve actually used self-hypnosis to control my bp and reactions to chronic pain for years and years (before a brain tumor surgery made controlling my bp a dream only). Thank you for covering this topic!

my therapist once used hypnotherapy to help ease the pain of a traumatic memory. i had to imagine i was there watching on the side, then approach my old self (it was kind of confusing) and tell her the things that i think i needed to hear. it wasn't very helpful for me since growing up i never really had anyone comfort me, so i wouldn't know what to say to someone in that kind of situation either. but i can imagine it being very helpful for other people.

I went to therapy twice in my life, also a psychiatrist once, and an animal therapist once. Each time was barely beneficial. I would talk and talk about the past traumas, there was one time when I received EMDR to talk to my inner child. This time was the biggest breakthrough for me. My soul always had a very deep, almost subconscious curiosity with hypnosis. I wanted to experience that peace that I had read about people entering after reading a few hypnosis books and I knew I had repressed memories. I ended up actually receiving Reiki first. During my reiki session I kind of entered a trance due to the background music, the tone of the practitioner's voice, and just having been so sensitive my whole life really had me feeling healing relaxation throughout my body. Even feelings of freedom or 'breaking free' came over me. I then became a Reiki practitioner after doing a lot of meditation and working on my inner traumas by myself with youtube/meditation/newfound spiritual belief and awakening work. When I had clients here and there for Reiki (I didn't do a lot because I'm also a stay-at-home mother of 3 lol) the clients often did not have the breakthrough that I had experienced when I received my Reiki and I knew that this had to do with a psychological, scientific experience over just an energetic experience. To each his own basically. This led me to venturing into being passionately interested in utilizing the trance state for profound healing toward true desires in life and figuring out how I had so easily done a 180 degree flip once I was at that specific point in my life of all of that awakening! I had throughout the years, in desperation, told my therapists, "I feel if only I could just be hypnotized". Because my desire was there, but I felt that simply talking and talking had me spinning in circles. They all looked at me like I was crazy and also told me they don't know anybody who does that. Turns out, it was true. My healing was absolutely locked in my subconscious. But I looked EVERYWHERE around my area for a hypnotist and there were none. Hence, my desire to simply become one and help those who feel the same way or similar to the way I had felt for years. That trance like state is what allowed me to correct SO many of my behaviors when the traditional methods failed me miserably. It's cheaper, faster, and easier. But again, I think different healing modalities are required for different people the same way that people learn things differently. I think the more open you are to hypnosis the better it works.

Thank you so much for your channel. I am currently in therapy for PTSD/depression and alcoholism and am very involved in everything surrounding my recovery. One thing that I can't seem to shake is the negative self-talk and self-loathing (yes I self-harm). It has improved over the last 7 months but still nowhere near where it should be to keep me out of trouble long term. About 2 weeks ago I found a self hypnosis channel on YT and I chose to focus on self-esteem related videos. I do feel that it has helped a great deal but after watching your video I wonder could I be doing more harm than good in the long term? I have been sober and self-harm free for over 7 months now, continue my therapy once a week, take meds, go to meetings, make friends (which is still difficult but I'm working on it). But with the addition of hypnosis I want to make sure I am doing the right thing. Thoughts?

#katiFAQ hi kati I love love love your videos! Since I found your videos I have gotten myself into therapy. However I haven't told my family, they are not big on therapy and see it as a weakness. I'm afraid that they will not only be upset but treat me different because of it. Should just bite the bullet or is it okay to keep this from the people around me most. Also I like many first went to my primary doctor for my anxiety symptoms. I was given anxiety medication but I'm still unclear on if I can say I've necessarily been diagnosed. Thank you for all that you do! You help so many people!!

To quote a hypnotherapist I recently contacted: You will notice if it works in the first few sessions. So please don't throw out your money if it doesn't work after a few sessions. Maybe try someone else or someone using a different technique. But don't waste money on it if it doesn't work after 3-5 sessions (depening on how deep they go). I will try it out soon and hope that it can change some of my negative thought patterns into neutral or even positive ones. I'm definitely already pretty well off when it comes to anxiety and agoraphobia, but I hope it gets even better through this.

hypnotherapy is very reliable if done with the right hypnotherapist, just like pschyotherapy , and other therapies the therapist is most important, most of the time clients and their needs are not heard well by most not all but most mainstream therapists and clients are pushed for medications , the reason Hypnotherapy is not main stream as it might become the most sought after and which will cause a big loss to the pharma

Hi Kati, how do I deal with my anxiety around events and situations involving food? I have an eating disorder background but my friends and family don't know or at least have never asked about it. When I go to potlucks or restaurants with family and friends, I feel embarrassed for not eating food that people want me to try and mostly eat healthy food that I brought/ordered. I also feel embarrassed if I eat too much. And when I do eat something "junky" b/c someone convinced me to, I feel horrible and ashamed afterwards. Please make a video giving advice on this topic! QUESTION- Hello Kati, reading atrophy of the brain due to depression/stress or an issue with a gene GMA01 (or something) causing atrophy of hippocampus and prefrontal lobes as well as mood disorders and medical conditions such as back pain.Also the atrophy causes increased chance of illnesses such as dementia in future. There is a debate on if atrophy can be remedied - Robert sapolksky a standford professor says no while other findings have shown that perhaps oily fish, exercise, recreating /repairing synapse connections between cells in areas of brain that are at risk/have experienced atrophy, antidepressants have been found to increase hippocampus (back to average size) but I have bipolar 1 and my last psychiatrist said because of that I cannot take them but I am on lithium which has some mildly positive findings . I also imagine CBT, other therapy and meditation are of benefit in reducing stress which is a big trigger for many in becoming depressed ect and causes atrophy itself it has been argued. I am basically wondering what can help reduce atrophy and improve these brain areas? Are there any decent resourses to find more information on this issues of concern? I live in Wales in Britain. Hey, Kati, nice video! :) I have a question for you about verbal abuse. How do you cope with this type of abuse in an unsupportive household (plus the abuse is happening at home) on your own? Let's say talking about your feelings with the abuser only made things worse, there are multiple people treating you this way, and there is no way to see a therapist. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this subject. :)

Hypnosis is nothing like you see in tv there are no watches or anything, it’s a lot like meditation as meditation is self hypnosis. It works by getting to your unconscious mind that you can’t teach by just thinking or saying something, I just had my first session of actual hypnosis and it was interesting it felt like 25 minutes but actually was 40 minutes you don’t remember everything, but you also can get out of hypnosis whenever. Make sure to get someone who is both licensed in regular therapy and hypnosis.

Thanks, for doing a video on this topic! If anyone is interested in Hypnotherapy check out Grace Smith (of Grace Smith TV and Grace Space). She tried Hypnotherapy herself, became licensed and certified, shares her story, and helps others! I was skeptical and hesitant to give Hypnotherapy a try. I tried it with Grace and it was great. In her own words, “it’s meditation with a goal”. Similarly, I think it’s like setting intention for yoga practice.

One thing i have noticed is for me it helped me alot but if you are in a toxic or negative enviroment the effect will not be strong as soon as i would arrive home to this negative enviroment my traumas came back and the peace i felt under the therapy went away etc the therapy gave me peace and calmness that i feel I never really felt so strongly Before in my young life so certainly if it is possible for whatever treatment you do if you can try and get away from that negative enviroment and the treatments will have an even bigger and positive effect on you godbless all of you and may your hard times vanish and may the rest of your life be full of peace love and happiness

Gonna try hypnotherapy to quit chewing tobacco after 8 years. Figure for $40 if it helps great if not it was just $40. The hypnotherapist next to my gym always has an ad saying it can make you quit after 1 two hour session. If it works I’ll probably try for my depression, anxiety and all the other stuff that’s wrong with me

I'm currently seeing a clinical psychologist who did her doctorate in hypnotherapy, to help with smoking cessation. Progress is marginal. She also helps me with relationship issues via talk therapy. Also, thanks Kati, your channel has improved my life. Much love from Australia.

I’m a hypnotherapist and if you have a real desire to stop you should only need 1-6 sessions. I personally do a 1 session hypnosis and have a 90 percent success rate. Not to put down your therapist in any way but I just want to make sure you’re getting your money’s worth.

also another question: My mother is a hypnotherapist and once some time ago as there was a heavy flooding in india and a lot of people died there, i was worried one of my facebook friends could have died. This made me sad and i cried secretly on the toilet, but then my mum came in and tried to comfort me, with saying, that i should imagine these thoughts as if they were in a TV, then black and white, then smaller... and that i am overly emotional. i told this a friend and they said it is normal to cry if you think a friend could have died... and that mindfullness would be better option to deal with such incidents...

Would this help someone who has been diagnosed with contamination OCD AND OCPD? Meaning would it help them cope with the contamination side better especially when it’s mainly to do with mold and help with the thoughts that come with OCPD?

I have a terrible issue with food (not an eating disorder, I was never diagnosed like that), in which I will have a sick reaction to certain foods (all vegetables and most fruits for example). My therapist tried hypnotherapy for a while but I never found a lot of progress in it but I'm sure that comes from me not having a lot of time on my hands for it. I also felt a bit uncomfortable with the process so I told him I didn't want to continue with that route.

I have found hypnotherapy to be useful for me. But I use audio tracks on reframing memories essentially. I found it useful because it allowed me to look at an old memory from a fresh perspective, and I could then say what I would do for the younger version of me.

I have heard positive things from people that have experienced hypnotherapy. I personally have not tried it. Pychotherapy is so emotionally painful for me that i am considering it...but you have instilled a little fear in me. 😕

We want to always make sure they are trustworthy and working with us. No need to be scared, but just take your time finding the right person to work with :) xoxo

I think just like any type of therapy, hypnosis can work for some but not for others. I agree it should probably be used in conjunction with talk therapy with a licensed psychologist!! I’m doubtful I could ever let my guard down enough to trust a hypnotist, however I did hear that a small session of hypnosis equals a restful night’s sleep - in that case sign me up!!! 😴

I didn’t believe in Hypnosis. I was at a low point. Bad relationship, battling PTSD, depression, anxiety, codependency you name it. I was a mess. I was in therapy ( it helped but seemed to really take a long time to find the right person to talk to.) I reached out to a Clinical Hypnotherapist in my area and set an appointment. Desperate for relief. It helped. It helped so much I went 3 times for different issues. It helped me pulled myself out of a bad place. Magic bullet? No, I still had/have to do the work. Fast forward to present day. I am in school, and starting a hypnosis practice of my own in the fall.

Kati, Do you think a therapist who is specialized in trauma would know how to somewhat put me into a “transe state” to explore trauma and addiction? I have gone through medical trauma since I was eight and didn’t realize I needed help until 9 years later(I’m 17) and am now about to start seeing a therapist who knows how to deal with this. Also, could you do a video on trauma and how to deal with it?

As someone who has helped many over 20 years I am still amazed how many are sceptical about hypnotherapy. Kati I do agree with some of your comments. Unfortunately there are many hypnotherapist who can cause more harm to people than good. Where I maybe differ is although many can and do get a certificate to say they have completed a hypnotherapy course. I still believe competency comes with experience not a 3 week course, yes they are out there. Having studied Hypnotherapy and NLP but do not have a certificate to my name I consider myself to be able to give far better help to people than a $49 certificate. I have helped many with mental health issues by a combination of hypnotherapy and relaxation techniques along with motivation. Kati just come across your channel it really is great by the way just been watching many of your videos great stuff.

Interesting. I am glad I never did it even though my mom wanted me to so much. If it shouldn't be done with someone who has hallucinations then it might have been dangerous to me if I did. I wonder why hallucinations matter though?

Hey Kati, I was wondering if you had any advice for me: I kniw someone who is in dire need of professional help (childhood trauma) but their parents won't let them see someone about it (it's still very stigmatised in their culture), and how would you convince them that she NEEDS to see someone? It's killing me seeing her like this. If anyone has any ideas pls help.

Hi Katie. Thanks for another great video. I'd like to share my opinion on regression if that's OK. I did a diploma course in Hypnotherapy and they said they didn't recommend regression to cause because of false memory syndrome and because repression exists for a reason. But then I found many experienced hypnotherapists saying that regression is essential in many cases to effect a lasting relief. So this seemed contradictory to me and I invested a lot of time seeking the "truth". I did a complete course in Regression with Roy Hunter, who has been using it for 30 years. He appeared to be a very meticulous, caring man and the course was really thorough. He said it is possible to do regression without leading the client. You simply ask the question "what happened next?". Most importantly you make it clear to the client before doing regression that anything that comes up is what your unconcious interpreted from the situation - not the actual events that happened - but that for the therapy to be effective the true events are unimportant. ( I must add that his method of regression isn't just regressing to cause and then briinging them out of trance. There's reframing from the adult , wise perspective any maybe more included). - Also, on the subject of pain relief, did you know hypnosis is also used as an alternative to anaesthetic in surgeries ?!! Powerful stuff huh !!?

english with mark online In my training we were always taught not to ever regress to search for lost memories. It’s like ripping off a scab. It’s there for a reason to protect you and many memories can be false. What you can do is go back to a known memory, never lead the client, and reframe it as your wise adult self.
