We’ve been looking for a PLA that is a color match for our C64, and we may have found a winner. In this episode we review the Jessie line of 3D printer filaments to see how they stack up for our retro projects.

Just got a tweet from the folks over at Printed Solid that I thought I would share: "Thank you for the honest review. Very well done. The temp issues on those Creality style extruders was very accurate. Other extruders you can print in the 205-210 range and next time order 3 spools for free shipping :)"

Honest reviews are always useful, especially for niche products that even google can't predict and advertise to us! Would love to print enclosures for the many projects connected to my Apple //e and //c . Thanks for the video, I learned something new today :)

Great video!! I also have to print at 230 to get a good print. Not sure why.

Is there a link for the scale 1541 floppy drive for the C64? I may have missed it.

Thanks for sharing! This is some valuable info. You could spend a lot of time and money trying to figure out the right color to match and trying to get the temperature set correctly. I'm still eager to build the mini 1702 monitor. I've got all the electronics for it but still need the housings. I've been checking treatstock/3d print direct and see they got the Jessie tan 64 which is awesome. I'm wondering if they're still working on setting up a product that would be like ordering the 1702 parts as a kit off the shelf or if the intent is to use the models to do an instant quote and order that way now that they have the tan 64 color. No problem either way. I just don't want to miss out.

Yes, 3D Print Direct has plenty of the Tan 64 on hand and is ready to take orders, but TreatStock is a bit of a pain and we couldn't get a "product" defined. The owner, Garth is a personal friend that has helped us out a lot over the past few months, so I thought I would try and throw a bit of business his way. (Standard disclaimer, no sponsorship, no reciprocation, just friends helping each other out). Hit me back if you have any questions.

Got a call from 3D Print Direct this morning saying that they got an order for a mini 1702 and a mini 1702. They said the customer handle was "Bret", so I can only assume that it's you. 😉 Glad you were finally able to connect with them. I can't wait to see how your kits come out!

@@Operation8Bit Yep, that was me! I'm pretty excited to get this thing built. It's going to go great with the mini collection. I'd be happy to share pics of the build once it all comes together if you've got a forum for that. Thanks again for sharing and helping me get started!

Very cool! FYI:Garth is going to try and put his theory about printing the back of the case at a 45 degree angle into practice. When you get it assembled, shoot the pics to our email; support@operation8bit.org I would love to be able to show them off on our FB page; facebook.com/op8bit

I don't think there is one correct color for the C64 though- especially in Germany I remember them being often pretty brownish from new (or a few years old)- the ones in NA seem to be lighter- some even completely grey

Yes please, especially the keycap colours and parts to match the //c as well as the others. Would love to print a matching flat panel monitor casing for a modern ips panel
