10/10 content, as always. Japan has been at the top of my bucket list for a while now and this year's very rough Whistler winter season has me thinking of finally going for it. Hoping to do a trip with both my dad and my son eventually. My pops did get out there once but got super unlucky and somehow picked a week with very little snowfall. Tree skiing with endless powder sounds good to me!

I was quite surprised about the prices for Europe season passes, thought they would be less. I'm happy with my season pass for my semi local ski resort (Sappee) costing only 140e from preseason sale. Bought it last season and also now have bought it for the upcoming season. Sappee ain't a big mountain or anything but southern Finland doesn't have that big ski resorts to begin with because its very flat. Japan is on my bucket list for places to visit for sure and now maybe even more. Great video altogether!

Great video, I skied a few places in Japan in my 4 years there. I would add one point that if you ski volcanos, the slopes are often steep higher up and flatter lower down. That, coupled with the lower vertical drop compared to Europe orthe US, meant the demanding skiing was quite limited. Lots of fun still to be had though.

I skied Hokkaido way back in the 1980s. It was lovely. The only thing was that they had loud music blaring from loudspeakers EVERYWHERE. You couldn’t get away from it to enjoy the lovely landscape in silence, or the soothing “shushing” of skiiing. Is that still the case? I don’t hear any music. I’ve been to Japan more recently, not skiing, and it was awesome. Beautiful, clean, kind people. A lot more people speak pretty good English.

Do you have to switch resort often given how small they are? I always end up skiing the same pattern of runs more than 10 times per day whereas in the Alps you have runs which drop 2000m in altitude or more than 20km in length to keep you entertained.

First time in Niseko last winter. Can't recommend it enough. Some of the best snow conditions. Very reasonable pricing (compared to US). I'm an advanced beginner and the runs were green / cruisey blues in my opinion. Not nearly crowded as other North American resorts. We plan to return and explore other resorts.
