So, what do you guys think? Is he your QB2 in the 2024 NFL Draft? For me, I still have him as my QB3, behind Drake Maye and Caleb Williams. It is close, but ultimately I give the nod to Drake. Let me know who you guys wanna see next!

Looks a lot like Fields. Great ball placement strong arm. Will overlook reads and run often.

Good video and a solid breakdown. It’s hard to really tell what leads to his inaccuracy. Like with the others you can see either an arm angle change or the footwork but JD is pretty solid in those areas, even on his misses. So maybe just needs more reps? Idk it’s a hard thing to fix when you can’t find the cause.

That’s a really excellent point and something I’ve struggled with on him as well. As far as his accuracy on out routes, I think it’s just that he doesn’t have the arm strength to drive the ball to the sideline to lead WRs sufficiently. But everything else, I have no clue why he’s so off at times because his mechanics are very good and repeatable too. Perhaps it’s a mental thing of misjudging how much velocity or touch he needs on the ball, but I can’t really pinpoint the reason either.

I really like the way you break down these players. I'm a newer dynasty fantasy player (superflex) so I find it super helpful as someone who doesn't watch college football. this year I've got picks 1.01, 1.02, and 1.03 and I've been waiting for this Daniels video to help me understand Maye/Daniels and which way I should go with 1.03. I think it'll really depend on landing spot.

Thank you, I really appreciate it! In terms of fantasy, I think landing spot is always crucial. There are a lot of guys I loved last year as prospects, but I stayed away from in fantasy because of where they were drafted and vice versa.

I'd agree he's a day 1 starter! To be fair though, being a day 1 starter doesn't automatically make him QB1 - By that logic, there'd be multiple QB1s which would defeat the point of having 1 guy there haha. We'll have to agree to disagree on that point, but perhaps he'll prove me wrong and prove you right! Thanks for commenting!

Which of his games would you recommend watching to see him displaying his strengths in processing and throwing over the middle of the field?

In terms of processing and working over the middle, I feel like the best games to watch are Ole Miss, Missouri, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M (all 2023). I believe those games best demonstrate that strength!

@@hazelbooth Definitely! It was very frustrating for me waiting for the All-22 of those games to come out. He did flash in the first five games I watched, but not enough for me to really be comfortable with him in the first round. Although he was far from perfect in the latter four games I watched (the ones I listed), I could at least see more consistent, translatable NFL level skills. Glad to help!

@@TheJumboPackage Yeah it’s always tricky like seeing which games give the best demonstration of a player’s skills and there’s so many external circumstances that go into it too, like for example Jonah Ellis was playing through a pretty big injury the second half of this year and so his most recent tape is by no means his best, it’s a tricky aspect of scouting

@@hazelbooth Definitely! I actually just saw TFG talk about that in a video so I'm going to have to go back to the tape on Jonah Elliss because I had completely missed that. I thought Elliss was a fine player from my watch of him, but the idea of that tape having been him at 50% and there being other tape showing his full potential is exciting!

before i even watch this shit, i just wanna say bro weighs 200 pounds at 6’4. and i’m pretty sure he’s got tiny hands. as a washington fan i want no part of him. maybe the video will change my mind tho

He's definitely very slight, I'll give you that. I personally have him as QB3, but think he has a ton of upside. Maybe the video changed your mind, maybe it didn't - hopefully you still enjoyed it regardless!

I could see it! It’s so hard to tell how teams value the players given all the smokescreens of draft season. I think he’d be excellent working with their receiving core, but I could also see their staff valuing Maye higher
