You are spot on about Jonathon David. He's not a striker and for some reason his current club and his national team don't realise it. His g/a at RW per 90 is much better than they are upfront for Canada. Its even the same on the left. But the best I've ever seen David is when he played as a second striker at Genk behind two strikers. He'd be so much better if he wasn't forced to play as a 9, it frustrates me seeing him play there. If Bruno was to go he'd be the perfect replacement.

No. And neither should Osimhen. ETH clearly wants a striker with excellent link up play, the ability to hold up the ball, counterpress when needed and of course a goal scorer. He's even said this in interviews about Ronaldo/Marital (coming deep etc). The ideal player IMO would be Kane as he is exceptional at this, but failing that Gakpo has all the attributes both technical and physical to do this role too.

Simply no. Unfortunately there are very few top class strikers about of good age and availability. David is good but he’s not what we need. We would be more suited to a Schick type, a more conventional striker in my opinion.

david is good as a second striker playing off a penalty area striker, he dribbles creates chances and space for the traditional forward. i would also say that man utd dont need the out and out striker like tammy abraham who works typically in the penalty area. man utd's style has seen to need a striker who gets involved in other areas like pressing and dynamic runs and chance creation as the stats show they perform better with such a player leading the line instead of a penalty area kind of striker. players like harry kane and Henry are the best examples i would give for the striker who would fit that description since they are involved in creative and scoring responsibilities. that then brings me to the ideal forward who i think is gakpo. gakpo has incredible finishing, shooting as well as vision and pace and technique as well as flair. these attributes make him a sort of quick harry kane or a prime Thierry henry who chips in with both goals and chance creation as well as ball progression. gakpo is very good at pressing and also defending to help the team. i can not act blind to the fact that he is a wide forward. however, he has many touches in the opposition box and ranks in the to 4% in this metrics which means he actually gets into those positions in the box to receive the ball in dangerous areas as well as his link up and flick on to other teammates makes him very good in the box given the congestion and tight marking. we have also seen players like van persie and henry who were wingers with technique, finishing and shooting abilities which enable arsene wenger transition them into strikers and look how they both turned out, same thing can be done with gakpo who seems to perform wherever he is played and adapts to the role. with gakpo's desire to play for man utd and the price and his attributes as well as potential, it would be not just an easy deal but also and ideal with a given purpose in mind for gakpo. he isnt a haaland but he could be a henry. if given time as well as chance to play as a striker look how depay turned out. with depay and jonathan being similar to martial and rashford not having the attributes to play as striker especially with back to goal, GAKPO I THINK WOULD BE MY CHOICE and his attributes are to just grow further and the tutelage of ETH

I like this player, but IMO, Utd will try to get another player, Cody gakpo. And this winter, they will also try big signing in No.9 also.

Watched him play yesterday and his movement was poor. Buchanan outshined him and Davies both and was best player on pitch. Not sure if he just had a poor match or Poland locked in on him.

I believe Kylian Mbappe can play as a sole 9 though. He's done it plenty of times and has bagged big goals plenty of times playing there. But David can't do it as a lone 9 and his potential is being wasted by the coaches misprofiling him.
