The thing that's remarkable about James as a host is how much he seems to want to just do his job. You never get the feeling that he's having to fight the urge to butt in or to give an unwanted opinion. He knows exactly how to keep a show going and that's just what he naturally does. His consistency over the years has been pretty amazing. I hope one day we get some good hosts like him on the major TV shows.

@@tonyhy-nielsen8520 yeah, but you have to risk being annoying in order to be entertaining. Otherwise you'll quite likely just be boring.

While I like the idea that you play all international games at the end of the season, it might also mean players who emerged say at the start of the season for contention for a national place like say Cole Palmer might not be considered towards the end or even be forgotten if the form dropped off. I guess it rewards consistency which is what you want but say someone scoring 10 times in 5 games and then gets called up does similar for England in September it means they got that chance then while the fire was hot

If I was a west ham fan, the only thing I'd be upset about was that Paqueta doesn't do a sexy dance after every goal.

It’s one of the most popular football podcasts in the world. So it’s built a listening audience over 6 years. The KZfaq channel is only a few months old. So obviously the lag will be there. Don’t worry, tons of people are listening :)

No..closely watched him lazily drift the space against City,while Odegard worked and hassled...no great shooting threat,not a target man..not a difference maker,lucky he isn't crucified like Mesut was for his lack of workrate and input.imo..

Not sure about comparing racist hate of Saka, Sancho and Rashford to Dan James missing a penalty. Although James stepped in to correct.

I'd wager 95% plus of hate towards the English players (from English people, the internet is global…) contained zero racism. As such the comparison wasn't incorrect at all, but was certainly a poor choice.
@jayhenry9823
@jayhenry9823 2 ай бұрын
While it's true that not all criticism towards the English players was racially motivated, it's important to acknowledge that a significant portion of the hate did contain racist undertones. Ignoring the racist elements dismisses the reality of systemic racism in sports and society at large. Additionally, even if not all criticism was explicitly racist, the comparison and point here on the black players who missed penalties fails to consider the unique challenges faced by black athletes in dealing with racist abuse. Therefore, the comparison was not only poor but also insensitive to the racial dynamics at play. He could of mentioned the Stewart Pearce or Gareth Southgate.

@@jayhenry9823 Nobody is ignoring it, that would be quite a feat, and when it was raised he did acknowledge it. It was the last and massively publicised backlash, though ill judged, it would obviously be the first he thought of, the others were decades ago. Your terms "not explicitly" and "racist undertones" do nothing but make matters worse, as they are an obvious "well, the others may not have said or done anything racist, but…". How would you like to be tarred as an ist or phobe for strongly criticising someone? That's just not on.

“Called up”, “Drafted”….these militaristic terms should no longer be used with National football.
@bucklberryreturns
@bucklberryreturns 2 ай бұрын
Perhaps "called up" refers to the telephone? Words and phrases have different meanings and usages, which have no bearing on each other. Terms with negative connotations can also be "claimed", making them fine to use, such as queer no longer being a slur. Enjoy hating the military though.
