Good morning team. Gil, I must admit, Ultimate GM does sound like it could be very fun. I truly believe each and every one of us can build a better team than Lou has, especially if the sky is the limit on what we can do. Making my first GM decision here though. I would be a hard pass on Patrik Laine. Having said that, if we could go back in time and get him 5, maybe 6 years ago, I would be a hard YES! Just having fun here, but I would make the Islanders a million dollar salary per player team. Everybody gets 1 million dollars, with incentives for excellent play. If the player wants more, play better and put the puck in the net. Plus players get rewarded, minus players get penalized. Everyone, have a great day! See you all next time. Until then.. Crazy idea. Lehner with his major hip surgeries looks as if he may not come back. If he doesn’t could it be possible for the islanders to look into possibly hiring him as a goalie coach or something. He loved Long Island and I feel Lou did him dirty

The Isles already hired a goalie supervisor in Chris Terrari, so there isn't necessarily an opening now although he could be added an an advisor or assistant, you never know. I think it's a good idea, Danfromoverthere, but I don't think Lou will necessarily do it. Thanks for the comment.

Good 🌄, Gil, how are you? I hope you're feeling better. Patrick Laine, excellent qualities, a sniper, big dude 6'5. 205 lbs; however, his numbers took a hit, and he's taking care of his mental health. He's 26 years old, and if Lou Lamoriello's smart, HE'LL, SNAP HIM UP, AND FAST. We've heard the good, now for the bad. He's constantly been injured, and they would have to involve a 3rd team. For once, I hope Lou Lamoriello will do what he thinks is best. Also, Laine didn't get along in Winnipeg and Columbus. Julian Gauthier, 5 goals, 9 points, minus 9. Disappointed by his own admission. 26 years old, been in the league for 5 years, with 4 different teams he needs to get his act together. HAPPY 🎂, JOEL RECKLITZ. He sounds like Rip Wheeler, meaning he doesn't fight for the fun of it, he fights because he got teammates back. Hear from you later, Gil, and let's hope The Panthers keep their sharpened tomorrow, and LET'S GO ISLANDERS.

Laine now wants out of clb so always a possibility but realistically it wont happen if the rumoured offers of 4 pieces-player(s), 2 picks and or first/ prospect are true then isles have no shot at laine. If the price drops and bj's who may throw say boquist in on deal can't get that package maybe laine can be had after other forwards like marner, zegras, isle rumoured target ehlers get moved and the ufa's like reinhart, stamkos, marchesseault, petterson, lindholm all sign around july 1. Laine could be a cheap option then yet at $8.5x2 bj's would have to eat some salary to make deal. And canes are shopping necas so necas for laine tumours are out there. And hawks with plenty of cap space/picks and utah yotes with a whopping $41 mil. in cap space and a boatload of picks next two drafts could out bid anyone for laine or any player of their choice. Isles only have $ 6.6 mil. in cap space which is a joke with all of those ntc's and long term deals and no assets of worth to move are shit out of luck once again unless laine goes for say a second and d. nelson. And a team like canes and casucks with all of those ufa's they can't sign could fall back and trade for laine too. One trade thrown out there. Laine to la for pld. That would be funny as hell. This rumour is nothing to get excited about. Just another available off-season forward louzer will whiff on. Just like last off-season, and the off-season before...

@@MrAschiff Not sure on that one. No one knows the asking price. The so-called rumour mongers are throwing trades out there. Those hefty prices are their trade proposals, not mine. No one really knows what bj's will ask for in trade or what they can actually get. Probably of the lesser trades mentioned. Laine wants out and controls trade yet doesn't have much trade value so a second, player or prospect could do it.

I agree, they would have to get Laine on the cheap and the issue is there are other teams out there who could offer a better package than the Isles. Lou has backed the Isles into a corner with his cap mismanagement and so here we are. Thanks for the comments, Steven.

Gil, I don’t think senile Lou has the ability to make any big trades. I’ll take laine just for the chance of better offense and power play. Of course I wanted him years ago just like duclair. Gauthier with fasching and Maclean should be the fourth line next season. I’d rather see Iskhakov next season instead of holmstrom. I guess this season’s Russian is going on the second line. Trade jgp so then Casey can center third line with lee and engvall. Still need someone for the first line wing. I want Pelech gone. Maybe we can suck in Toronto. Iskhakov,Bo,barzy Tsyplakov,Nelson,palmieri Lee,Casey,engvall Fasching,Maclean, gauthier Ex. Holstrom, wahlstrom , and mayfield Romanov,Dobson Pelech ,pulock Bolduc,Reilly Drive for 5! lol

Louzer will pass on laine because he is lazy and not d responsible in typical louzer fashion. Some team will probably get him for cheap, straighten him out, and watch him score goals as louzer fumbles again.

Would be a big surprise if Mayfield was the 7th dman since he was six years left on his deal. Not sure Iskhakov is ready for first line duty and they first have to re-sign him. We'll see if they do or if he heads back to Russia. Thanks for the comment, Robert, LGI.

I’d do it for wahlstrom and a second with $3 million of his salary absorbed, maybe we add in a conditional pick in 2025 based on performance, health or how far we get into the playoffs

The boys on TSN all said no on him…IDK …at this point Isles are so desperate for a REAL top 6 player….its impossible ..none of these elite players want to play here..plus the two Florida teams should have a lower cap hit because of the taxes…it’s literally not fair for all other teams…as far as Laine everyone says no .. but who are we going to get like that?? no one..we can get mediocre players..thank goodness for Horvat signing.

I do have to confess Gil 😮 I have always liked Laine and wanted him for the Islanders before his health n mental illness. I am warming to the idea. We have to get rid of Lee to even consider Laine. Would the Blue Jackets consider a Lee for Laine deal and the Jackets also retain 700,000. When Laine was drafted I looked at him and felt Laine could be The new Bossy. I am looking at this as would I want Lee for another 2 years or take a gamble on Laine.

Is laine worth it it? Short answer is No. I remember reading during the trotz era they were highly interested in trading for Laine bc of his Ovie like skill of filling the net. Does laine put us over the top? No isles are many pieces away from being a serious contender. I would prefer Gaudrea if we were able to poach someone from the blue jackets. Laine doesn’t seem like a good fit outside of his scoring ability. Isles are a defensive team first and more importantly a team built with great character. Can Patrick Roy keep laine focused? I would think so, but to even question it proves it’s not the right decision. Yes the islander never land big name players and laine is a big name, but he had a falling out with his last two teams. A lot of red flags for a 26 yo. I can’t see Lou making this move. Hard no.

This is where LL's poor decision making and horrific cap management works to the franchises advantage. Laine is a poison pill. He will wind up somewhere and for less than most believe in terms of asset cost. The amount of cap gymnastics that would be necessary for Lou to make this work turns this into an absolute non starter....Thankfully!😊

Well his poor decision making and horrific cap management plus lack of assets will prevent isles from getting that big scorer needed to and improve this roster so there is that. Not like LL is capable of getting anyone of worth cheap in terms of asset cost.

Dude was ruined in Winnipeg by a toxic jealous locker room. Kid was quiet and fragile, but he was killing it. I think he is ruined by what he has experienced in the NHL. I don’t see him having the mental makeup to turn it around.
