That ship has sailed since the Isles used their 2 seconds. Also, I said I don't think the Jets would take that deal and that that other teams would easily be able to put together a better package than the Isles could offer. Thank for commenting.

I had hoped Lou would nab him at the deadline. Duclair seemed high on coming here. He could fit in very well with BO and Matt. Roy is going to have his hands full making lines. As of now, Cal and Martin are out. No money left, and Wahlstrom, Holmstrom and Iskakov remain unsigned. $3 mil has to go just to sign those RFA's. I smell a buyout or cap dump trade coming.

Good 🌄, Gil, how are you? Also, from Locked On 🦈, JD Young to tell us what we can expect. If he's asked to play on the main line with Barzal and Horvat, that would be really be fun. DuClair sounds like a great presence in the locker room, too. I can see him play the waiting game with the goalie, too. Sébastien Aho signed with The 🐧, Shane Pinto, signed with Ottawa. The haven't resigned Hohlstron, Ishkakov, or Oliver Wahlstrom. Lou Lamoriello can pick anybody he wants, all he has to do is MAKE THEM AN OFFER THY CAN'T REFUSE. The Islanders made a lot of good deals. But THEY HAVE A LOT OF WORK TO DO. The Islanders will open on 10/10, at UBS. Bobby Nystroms 🎂, against UT. They hook up against The Rangers on 11/03, at The Garden. HAPPY 🎂, DAVE LEWIS. He was there when The Islanders started to be taken seriously by the rest of The NHL. I hope there were no hard feelings when he went to LA. He was a pre Rip Wheeler when he had to be. I have to tell you, Gil, I was watching the game between The Islanders and the Chicago Blackhawks on 02/11/1982 when they were in Chicago, and #18 interviewed Dave Schultz, who was in town promoting his book. When "18" asked him what player he respected the most, he said Clark"Jethro" Gillies because he was there to play 🏒, but then when you are humiliated by a 21 year old rookie in front of your own fans, you can't help but show some respect. Hear from you later, Gil, and LET'S GO ISLANDERS.

I have often been critical of Lou and I believe he is the reason the team is stuck in the muddy middle with no cap space and so many bad contracts. Duclair scored 24 goals last year and spent 2/3 of the season on the worst team in the league. He adds speed and offense. Is he elite? No. But he's a solid, mid-tier pickup and probably the best Lou could have done given the mess he created. Not sure Maggio or Dufour will be in the NHL this year, but hopefully they get a fair shake in training camp. I was hoping for a new GM, too, but ownership isn't changing. Great interview Gil, but I wouldn’t expect anything less! You asked a lot of good questions that concern Isles fans. The best news is Doug Houda being let go. (I never like to see a person lose their job) but as you know, I’ve been harping on his defensive scheme for the last two years now. More good news, Aho walks, thank God! Would have liked to see Pinto as a NY Islander and if we didn’t land Cole Eiserman at 20? I would have offered our 20th to Ottawa for Pinto. (Who knows, maybe he’ll be an Islander a year from now, or two)? I could care less how many teams Duclair has played on and I put zero stock into what people say about players playing abilities until I watch them play with my own eyes. With that being said, he played for Patrick Roy’s Ramparts his entire Junior career and it was Coach Roy who called him up & said- “I want you on my team.” Hence the good contract. He played four seasons with the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League, averaging over a point-per-game with 249 points. 116 goals and 133 assists in 203 regular season games. If anyone can get Duclair back to his All-Star level? It’s Coach Roy! I’m so happy Coach Houda is gone. I hated his defensive scheme and I hated his PK scheme even more! I do have to ask you, why you don’t consider Dobson and Reilly puck-moving defensemen? Funny, I was arguing with a fan on X (I think). He was complaining about signing Mike Reilly and “sitting” a 23-year-old 6’4” 220lbs Sam Bolduc. I explained to him, that Bolduc is going to learn how to play a two-way defense game from Mike Reilly and Mike isn’t going to play all 82 games. (Here’s the funny part) I also said to him that Bolduc has to learn to play his off-wing, in case a LD gets hurt and you just made my point and day, by saying Aho signed with Pittsburgh. I don’t see the other teams in our division all that much better than us, if at all. Maybe because he had an off-season? But, we still have a top 3 goalie in the league and a top 1 backup goalie in the league. I expect Ilya to get back to his Vezina form, especially when your BFF has a great season. You always want to play better than your BFF!So yeah, none of the teams you mentioned, intimidate me in anyway. I’m looking forward to watching my favorite player coming to UBS, Gustav Forsling! Because ya know, good players are never on waivers, that’s only for the players who suck! It has nothing to do with the hard cap. Lol

I also hope Duclair does well. Glad you enjoyed the discussion with JD and the questions I asked. I hope Bolduc takes his game up a notch this year and I hope he gets the chance. A lot of it is reportedly due to a lack of confidence. I am also glad to see Aho sign elsewhere. I like the guy, but his lack of size limits his ability especially in his own zone. The big question is why has this guy bounced all over the nhl? 9 teams in 9 years? I get the roy connection and duclair signed on a reasonable deal with the added cap $$$'s isles got. I hear his d is bad despite his speed and scoring ability which isn't there all the time. Duclair may be a better fit with 29, 21 but due to the usual hole on 13, 14 wing duclair probably gets a shot there to start season unless that scoring winger is found. Unlikely since louzer has to squeeze 10 in under the $1.2 mil. cap $$$'s he has left. So once again this is it-the run it back once again roster for next season. Louzer needs to find a team that needs cap $$$'s to unload 27 to. After the cap $$$'s flew yesterday hawks spent a lot. sj added a lot of vets, utah hc isn't at the bottom anymore. Flames, canes cap went down. Only one team is under the cap minimum right now-the quacks. Get to work louzer.

Jonathan Marchessault in comparison, who’s been much more productive in the past 6-7 years, only got a little over $5 million per. To add a player, they need to shed salary. They have a little more than $1 million in cap space and still haven't re-signed Holmstrom, Wahlstrom or Iskhakov. Duclair is a 2nd line talent but that's still a step up from the players the Isles had on the first line last year like Lee, Cizikas, Fasching and Engvall. Thanks for the comment, Danfromoverthere.

Duclair is a 2nd line talent who they'll probably put on the first line. As for the 4th line, replacing Martin and Clutterbuck will be MacLean, possibly Cizikas, Fasching, Engvall, Gauthier. Those are the main candidates. Thanks for the comment, Raymond.

Ive seen people on other platforms say its a signing because Duclair's best season was 31 goals and typically it’s in the teens. He had a lot of shorter seasons and this season playing 73 games He had 24 goals and 16 of them were on the sharks. We give him a full schedule and a team that can actually give him any aid then I think he could be a 30 goal scorer and some

He's capable of 30, but 20-25 is more realistic and more than that is a bonus. If he stays healthy and develops chemistry with Bo and Barzy, then 30 is possible. Thanks for the comment, orbakun.

He's had a few 20 plus goal seasons including 24 last year. The talent is there, now he has to produce. Thanks for the comments, Raymond.

Can't under sell the fact that you have a player of regardless of the money wanted to come to long island and a coach who actually wanted him here Should give him a lot of confidence No doubt makes us better and younger and faster Maybe Lou even also signs Jeff Skinner to cheap price

Not sure if Iskhakov makes the team or even re-signs. Isles still need to free up cap space to sign him. We'll see what happens. Thanks for the comment, Robert.

You're right, Gil... team is slightly better today... I think Lou is not finished... I seriously think there is a trade coming in the near future... maybe Pageau or Wahlstrom and Holmstrom....

We shall see. More moves would make sense, but will Lou find a taker and a deal he likes? And will the players in question need to waive their NTCs or modified NTCs. Thanks for the comment, aramanookian9202.

Great signing by Lou! The Lou haters are still going to bash him for it though.

U mean when he should have signed him years ago before he went to Florid? Could have signed him and chara still saved a couple hundred thousand a few years ago instead of giving his boy Greene 2.7 million. Rather late than never with senile Lou. Over 20 years and the fossil hasn’t won anything. It’s a joke he still has a job at 82!

yeah he should be excused for one reasonable signing because of the roy connection and extra cap $$$'s to do that. and that is it. isles can't do anything else with few cap $$$'s left and without costly cap dumps with retainment.

So one signing, which was a no brainer, gives him a pass on every other mistake he’s made to put this team in the situation it’s in?
