Another one of Natsume's many under appreciated gems

I got lucky and snagged this about 2 years ago for $5 before everyone started talking about it.

YES. just, yes. Shadow of the Ninja (which has an unfortunate acronym of SotN so i can't abbreviate it, lest you think i'm talking about Symphony of the Night) has always been a favorite of mine. this is on my brother and i would play co-op all the time, i always had to be the girl ninja though. it only scarred me emotionally a little bit. but yes, fantastic game and always comes to mind when people ask for underrated NES games. preach it, brother!

Natsume really did have a great run there on NES. Shadow of the Ninja and Shatterhand are two of my favorite hidden gems on the system.

I remember renting this from Blockbuster as a kid. Brutally underrated.

This is literally my favourite game of all time. Been playing it since I was 4.

Great action, godlike soundtrack and pretty good visuals. Kage Fighters (how it was called in my region) is one of my favorite games when I was a kid.

Best 8-Bit ninja game period. Natsume really knew how to make such excellent ninja games. Shadow of the Ninja, Ninja Gaiden Shadow (Game Boy Shadow of the Ninja published by Tecmo), and Ninja Warriors on Super Nintendo.

Yo bro love you channel it aways bring me back to good old console days...so there is a old nes game that I don't think you have ever talked about "street fighter 2010-the final fight" I play it when I was a kid and still don't know anything about it

I got this as a kid at a flea market. We never had much money so I only had a few games. I had never heard of it, but it had a cool cover. I remember me and my dad playing this. It was a great game that no one ever really knew about it.

Picked it up on Wii U eshop before the shut down for $5! Glad I did, had no clue there was co-op!! That’s awesome!

The music is indeed good. Not "Journey to Silius" levels of incredible, but good. Especially the ending music - I used to play through it again and again just to be able to listen to it.

aw man i remember playing this on one of those multi game systems from a swap meet as a kid. Only it was in japanese and caled Kage. Been trying to find a physical copy for a while now.

A good game. The main reason I kept coming back to it, however, was the music that plays after you beat the final boss

I have this on 3DS. It's pretty fun. BTW, did you know Tecmo acquired the rights of this game for Ninja Gaiden Shadow for the original GB? The intro of THIS and NGS are a perfect example.

I like Natsume's NES game. They aren't long but have good soundtracks, arts and reasonable difficulty.

Bought this at woolworths for $20 in lakewood mall in long beach California back in the early 90s. Rode my bike there. I remember sipping on an orange Julius while waiting for an employee to unlock the cabinet

I just finished this and its amazing. After playing a ton of Ninja Gaiden for the last few months this was a great change of pace but with still some difficulty but not hard enough to wanna pull your hair out.

I have very fond memories of this game. In 1991 9 year old me poured out all my savings on the counter in a store in North of Sweden to buy it. The title in Europe was, however, Blue Shadow because "ninja" sounded too violent.

Thought this was a konami game at first.... music and even visual reminds me a bit of the first castlevania game. Reading comments tells me it is natsume. Looks so much fun!

Sometimes just being a ninja is all that's necessary, but co-op, sweet! I need this game.

Bought this thing cheap a few years ago, label is a tad torn off, but the gameplay and action is fully there. This game is fantastic.

Bought the european Version called 'Blue shadow' from my Go to retro Games Shop for 15€ today. Havent tried it yet, but I am positive that I dont regret buying it.

You guys should check out Return of the Ninja on the GBC too. Natsume also made it and it plays similarly but with more updated stuff.

You can do a super move if you hold down the B button for more than five seconds. Your energy bar will flash but it will take health.

Another thing u missed is if u hold the attack button whatever weapon your holding has a power as well

There is a great Romhack that turns this into a Batman and Robin game. That makes this one of the best Batman games I've ever played on the NES.

You should also mention Natsume's S.C.A.T. another two player co-op done very well in the vain of Capcom's Forgotten Worlds.

Idk if it’s because I’m just starting to play it but damn I’m having a much tougher time with it than Ninja Gaiden or Castlevania. Some of these mfs starting on the second level take like 10 hits for em to die! And you get absolutely swarmed at some points and they just drain all your health. The limited continues thing to me almost puts it above the other two.
