The only times where a valid argument has been lauded _against_ Steel Ball Run being the best, is when it involves personal taste, i.e., subjectivity. JoJo is a great series, but having an actually well-written or cohesive narrative has not been its top priority, which it doesn't need to be, it can be and has been compelling in other ways, yet there are only a few standout arcs throughout the saga that took the story to unseen heights, namely Kira in Diamond is Unbreakable, and "What a Wonderful World." With as few spoilers as possible, Steel Ball Run (with the personal exception of the first few arcs which felt like they were finding themselves) is so consistently epic that I was stunned at how far above the idea of "JoJo" it took itself, whilst simultaneously enhancing what had made the series so beloved to begin with. True Man's World, Sugar Mountain Spring, and the final arcs are peak JoJo.

Honestly the only issue I had with Steel ball run was the assassination of Sandman story. He was clearly scrapped since at the beginning it seemed that him and gyro would have a whole complex arc together but what happened is one fight where gyro was not even the focal point lol. I thought that he of all people would join the squad because his whole point was being against the government and also being a rebel. But I guess Araki went for a different story and decided to just have him as a minor villain.

IMHO, I think "Jojo at it's peak" isn't a specific part, but a period that crosses between 2 parts. It starts during the 2nd half of part 7 and ends after the first half of part 8. In this sweet spot is where the best arcs, characters, fights, story developments and art occur

Imo, SBR is great where it’s at. I can see why people say it’s hyped up a bit too much, making it seem like the greatest work ever written. And I sorta agree with it. Part 7 was like no other, and I actually took the time to observe each panel. The introduction to the spin concept was interesting. The stands were unique. The Western setting was cool. Many references from the OG Jojoverse… cannot say more. If I were to read it for the first time all over again, I would. That being said, as much as I like SBR, my favorite is Jojolion. Jojolion has more depth an mystery. Also, originally, I got very confused on: 1) How Valentine suddenly changes from fat to buffed in one chapter 2) Who Shot Johnny Arc 3) D4C’s ability 4) How Johnny can walk again 5) Why Jesus was in Jojos (still pretty cool) I’m catched up on JojoLands, so let’s see where it goes.

SBR is so evocative because it gives you a real strong look into traditional American heritage/culture . I would dare say it’s a national epic. The characters are literally spanning/conquering west. Johnny is a typically American vain, materialist an entirely self serving protagonist, the ‘True Man’s World’ is all about the grit and real blood war the west was, Valentines Napkin philosophy is dripping with constitutional originalism.

Do I believe it's a masterpiece, indeed, Do I believe those first initial episodes may struggle? Certainly, not because they'll suck, but the first leg of the race is a rather long moment, while fun and engrossing to me. Anime-Onlys may be perplexed by it. Thinking SBR is just a racing ANIME until Hey Ya appears. After that point though we have the Boom Boom Family which should elevate things and Mountain Tim. Furthermore, I have read somewhere that SBR and Stone Ocean were not as popular in Japan when they came out do to location. Part 4, 5 were Pillars of the series in Japan as well as 3 due European and Asian Setting. Thus, I don't believe we'll be seeing Part 5 Levels of Animation Quality either. Stone Ocean was sort of hit by this, though it's hard to say whether it's because the Japanese community didn't like it as much, or because Netflix had them on a leash of time constraint. But, maybe I'm wrong, I'm just excited to see the Anime someday, it has the chance to be one of the largest parts we'll see animated for a while. A Chapter can sometimes be an entire episode. And while I doubt, we'll see 50 episodes, I think we may match with Part 3 for 48 perhaps. I could see them going up the Scary Monster's Arc Batch One, then Up to the Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap Chapter for Batch 2, then finish the Part in Batch 3 with the D4C and High Voltage, Stars and Stripes Arcs. I don't know how much Influence Netflix has aside from being the Streaming but, one thing I've noted of Netflix Anime is a considerably... well, unfiltered nature, Stone Ocean I suppose exemplified this in the little that was censored in violence and the F-Bombs which grew more plentiful as the batches released. Case in Point certain incredibly dark moments may just be animated if Netflix is anything more than just a Distributor. Though I doubt they have any real control of it either way. SRY, just some things I've been thinking about. I still say SBR is a masterpiece, and if the Japanese Audience's love for certain parts effect how they're animated, at least we know Jojolion will be masterful. SBR struggled either way when it transferred to Ultra Jump, and with its original name not even featuring Jojo's Bizarre Adventure on it. It was perplexing for many at first. But I can still hope it'll capture the shear artistic magnificence that is Part 7. (Ignoring how the same magnificence was butchered in the Anime's Part 1 and 2.) For all I know, I may've just been thinking on rumors. But rumors are all we have at this point. But it's better this way, I hope they take their time.

Just gonna watch the anime. Cant be bothered reading the manga anymore. I stopped reading after Part 4 and just watched it. While the artwork looks great my issie with Akari is that every single page looks so busy and has awkward panel transitions making you lose momentum while reading. Because of this there are times it takes me 15 min to get through a single chapter.

I would have struggled to read the beginning of Part 7 without Gyro Zeppeli, Johnny and his stand as well as his core values were very underwhelming. And also the sandman arc felt really random. After that I love it, especially the Lucy Steel arcs and Funny Valentine are amazing. Personally I prefer part 8. So many mysteries to solve and the more psychological battles were really intriguing. And everything revolving around breaking a curse embodied by the amazing Wonder of U arc.
