Thank you for your video! You just saved my a boat load of $$$$ and time for "upgrading"from 7 to 8. No thanks on the extra weight! I'm at sub 24lbs with chunky wicked will tires right now on my epic evo.

Glad we could help Jake! Sounds like a sweet build. How do you like the wicked wills?

I prefer my S-Works Epic Evo 7. At 1,659g it’s the lightest 29er full-squish ever made. It’s already too slack for my trails so I run the flip chip in the high setting which also prevents pedal strikes. Plus it’s blue! 😍💙 I do want that SID Flight Attendant though! Will be upgrading as soon as the generic version comes out (supposedly June).

Hell yeah I know the blue you're talking about that's such a great color! I'm torn between flight attendant and the twistloc. Really don't want to add more cables to the bike and give up my ergon grips. Don't want to add batteries to the bike either. Decisions...

I'm in the same position as you, I have an Sworks Epic Evo 7, and the one massive improvement I would like to do is the Flight Attendant. Would we be able to fit the Flight Attendant rear shock on our frames, or will it only be the forks that are backwards compatible? Our frames have 110mm rear travel, whereas the new 8 has 120mm rear travel, so wasn't sure about compatibility. Any thoughts or ideas? Thank you in advance 👍🙏

@@jonoharper4729 our frame (Epic Evo 7) is the only bike not currently in production that will have a SID Flight Attendant shock available. Probably because it was a test bed for Rockshox. My bike shop said his SRAM rep said it’ll be available for order sometime in April. I’m first in line! 🤞Good news too is we don’t have to buy the whole fork, just a replacement damper.

@@samharris82 That's fantastic news, you're ahead of the game. Really appreciate the update. I'll get on to my LBS this week and pre order the parts. Thanks Sam, go well, enjoy your rides mate 🙏👊

I also have the navy sworks epic evo 7 and love it. Will be adding flight attendant when it becomes available. Looks like I can get front shock and power meter but not the rear shock yet.

I just discovered your channel... I started road cycling two years ago, back then I bought an SL6 2021 Tarmac since the SL7s were way too expensive. Btw my Tarmac has the exact same colour of this Evo of yours 😅...now 2 years later I am looking to get a MTB and same scenario I won't pay that much for the latest model and I just saw a guy selling a near mint Evo of 2023 so I think it will do it. I was reading back to back the spec sheet of both bikew and are milimeters and being new to mtb I dont think I will notice for such considerable amount of money. Thanks for providing insights

An Epic Evo 7 would be an awesome first mountain bike! Glad we could help! Welcome to the dark side once you start mountain biking you might never want to ride the road again lol

I have the Evo 7 and debating the new Epic 8. Your video convinced me to hold off as it not being worth the upgrade. The bumper stop would be nice as the AXS shifter has put some noticeable scratches on the top tube even with protective wrap. I race my Evo 7 and had an Epic 5 gen. At first so much sag and pedal bob but after several races I’m not so tired from all the rocks beating the hell out of me I’m actually faster.

Don't get me wrong I'd love to have the 8. I just can't justify the cost vs improvement. I'm adding Flight Attendant suspension to my Evo 7 I think this will really compliment the more active suspension of the bike and make it that much faster.

I am in between this bike and am emtb. I was going to get the specialized turbo levo 2024, but heard that the motor keeps breaking on it. Not sure how fast this bike goes. If this bike can get up to the same speed as a class 1 emtb, I think I would just choose this bike because of how light it is. Currently, I have the trek fuel ex 7 2022 and it is super slow.
@HandlebarVentures2 ай бұрын
Depends how fit you are. Bike will only go as fast as you can power and pilot it. Everything equal Ebikes will always be faster bc they have a motor providing additional power.

@HandlebarVentures thanks! Yeah, I try to keep my cycling up and I also do a lot of upper bodyweight exercises, but for some reason, I go slow. When I sprint for about 20 minutes in the heaviest gear, my legs feel heavy. I constantly go up and down the stairs and am constantly active, but for some reason, am slow on the bike.

Im currently trying to decide between a 2024 epic 8 expert or the 2023 epic world cup pro. Fast woods riding with a lot of on road training too. Too many choices

See if you can find somewhere to demo them! You might have to travel a bit, but it's definitely worth it before dropping all that money on a bike! Good luck!

So the decision was sort of made for me by Specialized. I ran into a situation where I wanted to cancel my order at one shop and buy a bike closer to home but shop said they would have to charge me a 15% restocking fee. So I called customer service to find out if such a thing was true and I wind up having a great 45 minute conversation with them about bikes and races and life in general and the next day I called the shop to tell him yes cancel order I don’t care I want to buy it closer to home and he said well Specialized is offering you 30% off sale price so I had no choice, picked up the WC for $4899

i would just go for the 120/130 travel Epic 8 Evo if I was buying a new bike.

I think the Evo version will appeal to a lot of people as a lightweight trail bike.
@axgvr4 ай бұрын
wasn't aware of the extra weight...no bueno
@HandlebarVentures4 ай бұрын
Longer frame and the SWAT storage add some weight. Still a light frame considering, but the epic evo gen 7 was about as light as it gets!
@axgvr4 ай бұрын
@@HandlebarVentures I'll hang-on to my gen 7 for another season; just a bit over 23lb with pedals, Garmin, bottle cage, and tubeless flat repair kit (in the bars)

Epic 8 looks to be marginal gainz over the Epic Evo 7. We all know how cyclists/MTBers feel about that…
