I fixed mine! I bought it new and had the same problem on the first cut. The grass wasn't even deep. The John Deere rep came by my house and had no answers. I am a 20-year Machinist. I took the blades off and spotted the problem instantly. There is about a .030 edge on the blade from the factory. If you're not a Machinist, that is a mile and a very dull blade. I thought they just forgot to put a good edge on it from the factory. I got new blades, and they were the same. So I decided to put a good sharp edge on them myself. It now has about a .005 edge on it, and it leaves my yard looking like a golf course. I am disappointed at John Deere for designing something like this, but the fix isn't difficult.

Definitely worth a call to the company. My deck is 48” with two blades. I’d say I’m at 95% cut. Think mine is front tires pushing it down before the deck goes over it. I also alternate direction of cut each mow. Deere definitely needs to have an explanation. Hopefully you can dial it in.

Run mower at full throttle all the times. Also space the center blade front to rear and and side blade sideways (left to right). Level your blades with a 1/8" tilt toward the front of deck. It will tell you how to adjust blades in your manual. And don't let the grass get too long. They don't do these adjustments at the factory, it is for the dealers to do. BUY a TORO ZERO TURN

Nick. I feel ur pain. We moved from Clarkston with a Tru-Green maintained yard to Lapeer with a field grass yard, something like what you have. There is ALOT more moisture in field grass. Look at the bottom of your deck and see it's caked with grass, that'll explain the missed cuts. I'm going thru the same crap here. I cleaned the underside of the deck 3 weeks ago, and it was so caked with grass & dirt that it was actually grinding the blades down. I had to clean the deck with an air chisel it was so compacted to it. I purchased a set of (3) hi- lift non mulching blades, and just last week again, I noticed it missing cuts in the center and some of the taller weeds and dandelions still standing. Really ? I jacked it up and found the deck compacted again with grass clippings, so I power washed it clean, and now I'm waiting to see what happens on the next cut. I'm frustrated just like you are. If I figure mine out, I'll let you know.

Nick check the blade pitch on the deck. Out in a flat surface , check the blade tip in the front then in the back of the blade. Should be about 1/2” lower in the front. Flat blades won’t lift well and takes more power. Has to be able to get air to lift grass and if flat the front of the blades is cutting and the back of the blades are recutting. You only want the cut the grass with the front tips of the blades.

The blades were put on backwards at the factory. From the looks of your lawn it looks like the blade is tearing off the grass and not cutting.

i know mine cuts good short but the higher i raise the mower the crappier it looks.and yeah the tuff torq rear ends are junk .the exmark sprayer spreader we use at work have them and we blow them out constantly

Never noticed that on my x570 it’s 3 blade but it’s the accel deep deck and extremely dull blades

Hey Nick... I bought the JD S240 a couple years ago... 48" deck accel-deep... I have not seen this on my model which also has 3 blades. Might just be a blad sharpening issue? Not sure. I'd also considered a Cub.

deflate the tires 1/2 then try. But... i was in a rush earlier.. This shouldn`t happen... The blades might have "bugs"

So many things could cause this, I bought a commercial zero turn cut my mowing in half. My cuts are so much better now

hi there well i will tell you some of what i know , blade pitch and style mater , the blades are like fans and suck the grass up to them . tip speed and air flow mater . the bagger may have restricted air flow . and may need different blades with a bagger . the front wheels do push the grass down not much you can do with that , i think i may talk to deere . on another thought did you get your splt at the PB show , i just got space 100 again this year , best to all john

All this said my Honda Harmony walk behind misses more than the Deere.

My zero turn 3 bladed cub cadet does the same thing. I think it is normal.

Hey brother little man is getting big! So you have 2 or 3 things that come into play one being blades and how sharp? (new is not sharp) or type of blades used Two how clean is the underside of the deck? If you have build up there isn't the correct flow Three could be the pitch of the deck all decks are adjustable for front and back pitch and side to side. Hope this helps! Mine was brand new 2021,it never wants to start😡 I don't know if it's the censor under the seat, the carb or what? I'm not impressed, I'm alone and currently going through a divorce so I'm trying to figure it out🤷‍♀️ Any advice that I can try would be appreciated

Your left front wheel goes over the grass before before the grass gets cut. Theirs not much you can do about it.

The new blades aren't sharp from factory sharpen them. I am sure you checked are your blades upside down?

Couldn't hurt to throw the blades on the work bench and hit them with the angle grinder, i make knifes out of old rusty metal with the grinder, im sure you could put a much better edge on them than they come with, good luck i hope you get it dialed in brother ❤️✌️🪓🌲🐝

Joel Salatin raises some of the best livestock in the country on multiple pastures with multiple weeds... and of course goats are supreme grazers. Could be a good move to fence in a few pastures and raise some of the best beef cattle in the world. Just my imagination in overdrive. 🥩 After being a vegetarian for 40 years i know the value of grass fed beef. The Polyface farm in Virginia is growing the healthiest animals in the world.
