Loving seeing the OGs reunited! 100% agree on Quest 3 vs AVP. Apple have done a brilliant job selling the Quest 3, but when it eventually comes down in price the AVP has unbeatable visuals for spatial videos etc.

I have the Quest 3 and it's the first VR headset I've enjoyed without getting a headache. It brings the fun, without being unaffordable. When I see the price of the Vision Pro, I'm filled with a feeling of both bewilderment and vague contempt.

I managed to annoy a Vision Pro fan boy on another KZfaq channel before it had even been released. I think I just said I wasn't going to start referring to my Q3 as "spatial computing headset" just because Apple was pulling a typical Apple move. That was enough to tip him over the edge and launch an angry rant even though he hadn't posted a comment on that thread till after mine. He said we were all idiots and I apparently didn't understand what spatial computing was and Apple was going to do it right! Amongst his very strange ramblings, I think it does highlight a point amongst some fans of particular tech brands. Regardless of the price tag that Apple slaps on a new product, some fans will convince themselves it is the greatest thing ever and it will pave the way for a new era and that they must own it even if it means selling a kidney. I've not personally tried an Apple Vision Pro but to be honest it doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. I do not doubt for 1 second the quality of the product. However, if Apple is hoping that it will somehow replace regular workstations with flat screen monitors for prolonged periods of time, day after day, then it's going to fall flat on its face. I would be interested to know what the AVP sales figures look like these last few months compared with Apple's own projections.

Quest 3 delivers outstanding performance as a wireless PCVR headset, particularly when used alongside a WI-FI 6E router.

"Lifetime membership for just under £1000" That is such a bad deal, many forget a lifetime membership is not YOUR lifetime but the companies.

Regarding the Quest 3 "The big difference is the passthrough"... I would disagree with this... while the biggest difference in "pass-through" is the colour, the biggest real difference overall is the combination of the pancake lenses and the much higher powered chipset. The upgrade from fresnel lenses (with the tiny sweet-spot and fuzzy, near-unreadable peripheral vision) to pancake lenses is the most impressive part of this. And the huge (but mostly unrealised at this point, apart from a few games) upgrade in GPU/CPU makes the visuals for optimised apps like Red Matter 2 a huge upgrade from the Quest 2. Sure, colour pass-through is cool, but I don't feel it is the most important part of the package here. Also, as you said yourself, it is "lo-fi" and grainy.

The Meta Quest 3 parts and assembly costs $430. They sell it for $499 which probably covers the packaging and shipping. The Apple Vision Pro's Displays alone cost $456! 🤯 Total parts and assembly for AVP is $1542. The rest is probably covers R&D costs, eye prescription costs, facial interface fitting costs, packaging, store overheads and apple sucker tax. While I cannot ignore how premium apple products continue to be, I am over it. The Meta Quest 3 does everything you need until the next gen in 2 years time and is 7 times less expensive.

Fair points. Despite that, I've seen people online moan about the cost of the Quest 3 but I don't think they really understand how much good tech is included for the price tag. The Q3 is my first venture into VR and I spent quite a bit of time weighing up the pros and cons of each avenue including PCVR and PSVR2. Q3 just made the most sense to me.

Golf+ on Quest is amazing... I play every day. There is a full Tour and follows the real life Tour with a lot of the course on the PGA Tour

I think they just changed target audience to be more generic in a bid to get more viewers. The Gadget Show could (and should) return with the original format and presenters, they could run both shows as long as the competitions and advert breaks are still profitable.

I use to ❤ this show on channel 5 on terrestrial TV, I also spent lots of money trying to enter to win the competition with good at the end of the show. Memory lane! Glad your back!!!
