People are being sold on the idea that they need thousands of dollars worth of technology and other options in order to take a truck off road. How foolish. A base model truck with the right set of tires has always done just fine for me. There's good reason why the Detroit News always refers to light duty trucks as being "profit rich" for the manufacturers. They keep adding baubles to trucks and the public keeps paying extra to get them.

I had a rebel for a few years and absolutely loved it. One of the most comfortable and yet still capable vehicles I’ve had. Zero complaints with it. Had to switch to a 2500 for towing reasons but the rebel will always have a soft spot in my heart

Ram should have put the 6.4 SRT inside this GT. That alone would have helped a lot and would cost peanuts to do (relatively). That and a front locker would help separate the GT from the Rebel but then I'd be mad if the SRT was only available in the GT and not a plain big horn or whatever.

Good looking truck. Glad they didn't use that dial shifter for the transmission. As for it being "old", I think there is something to be said for having a proven, reliable platform (versus something new with the inevitable issues that pop up).

I think the Rebel does compete against the Tremor. They are both off road designed trucks that can still tow and haul.

Bought my 22 Rebel GT in Sept. Was built in April , considered used w/ 2,500 miles. Billet silver no graphs. Fold out side rails ,bed cover. I added the spray in liner , rain guards. total 64.5k . Feel like that was a great deal. No back gate or Ram boxes though. 9 speaker Alpines are just fine. I LOVE IT .

In terms of stying, I think the *_Rebel_* G/T loses out against the *_Laramie_* G/T But the Rebel naturally has the edge in rough terrain. If I had to pick one of them it'd be the Laramie because of the everyday-drivability and I'm pretty sure it tows more comfortably too. Love them both and I hope they continue to live on despite where the industry is going.

I love my Rebel GT! The gear shifter and the exhaust note are what sold me. Looks and sounds fantastic.

I cant wait for you guys to get a hold of the 2500 diesel Rebel. I think its a decal look, more than anything, but cant wait for you review and have you run the Hydro Line trail with it.

Does Ram state how much more the cold air intake and exhaust add? You had the standard 395/410 numbers. I put a K&N drop in air filter in my 2020 1500 and it felt like it had more pep.

I ordered a Bighorn with the Off-road package, 3:92 gears, and a few other options I wanted. A lot less money than the Rebel, and still as capable. All pickups are overpriced. There are huge mark ups and profits in the truck market. As for Ram, they need more choices for engine options. I am fine with a new six cylinder turbo, but they need to maintain the V8 option as Ford has done. Don't replace the Hemi, but offer more options.

I have a '22 Rebel, not a GT and just love it! Power, comfort and off-road chops. If you have the extra bucks for the GT, go for it. I do like the shifter over the dial though. Great video guys! Bill from Linglestown, Pennsylvania.

I just recently went from a Ram R/T to a Rebal. I love my Rebal. One of the main reasons I stayed with ram was the Ram Box. It defiantly tows alot better then my R/T. I don't know if I still would of looked at another manufacture if they had something like the ram box.

Just bought a 23 Rebel gt today. We looked at the Tremor top trim as well. The Ford was very well equipped, but the quality and interior or the Rebel were far superior.

I think you are way off when it comes to the rebel. Its direct competition is the treamor and the Trail Boss. The are a few tricks to the treamor ill give you that. However the suspension in the rebel is far superior to both. They also offer a full air suspension. Neither of the others do. Equally equipped though the treamor is stupidly exspensive. I currently own a new trail boss. Leaving the rebel to this truck was a huge mistake. Chevy and ford both took huge leaps towards there interior and still havent passed ram..

I really liked the discussion. Why didn't you compare GT to FX4 and other non-specialty off-road trucks? Would GT Rebel be a 'performance' off-road truck compared to FX4 with 3.5TT Eco or boost motor? Honestly tired of specialty off-roaders when many people need a daily work/family truck that can off-road.

Great truck. Had over 40 GMCs before switching to my rebel 2019. But try to get some trick accessories. Almost impossible

Dodge is also trying to cover a wide area. This truck does a lot of things well, not just a off roader

Great review, but base Rebel does not come up 4WD Auto by default (1:26), it's only available as an option with Clutch Pack based transfer cases. Base Transfer Case is Part-Time only same as with Tradesman. My '22 Rebel (non G/T) did not come with 4WD Auto.

I was wanting to go with a tremor F-150 but it's slowly getting to being more expensive than a rebel GT or other.

The same way Nissan didn’t change the Frontier in years, Dodge can do the same. They offered better technology and better interiors. I hope that the HEMI 5.7 still an option ❤

RAM got the Power Wagon to set above this Rebel. But it's an 2500. I think RAM is falling behind due to their high pricing now. Their lots are full and vehicle's aren't selling.

Looks of a vehicle boil down to personal preference, I think this looks great, but others may not. I don't need to "Best" at one or two particular subjects, I need a truck that supports all of my demands. I have a 2020 Rebel, fully loaded, it goes faster than the posted speed limit, tows all of my toys with ease, and storage is a priority, and no truck beats a Ram with Ram Boxes for storing and hiding all the crap you carry. I'm not a guy to go out 4x4'ing, but as an outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman, I need to 4 wheel to most destinations, and my Rebel has yet to let me down.

Your Dad said it well. But, I do think the Rebel competes with the Tremor, but instead of the ZR2, I would pit it against the LT Trailboss with the 5.3 or maybe with the 6.2. We're trying to decide on which route to take for my wife's next truck. A Tremor, Rebel but in our case a ZR2.

wonder if this one is going back to get a properly made tailgate installed. Nothing says “quality, long lasting, tough truck” like a tailgate recall… one of the most basic and most used components on a truck.

Offroading is only for a tiny tiny demographic and is way overblown in my opinion. I think Stellantis knows that most truck buyers don’t actually do trucking type things in regards to work and other hard-core duties. Most buyers cannot afford these trucks even in their simplest design packages. This is a great truck for what you get.

Ram believes its potential buyers are stupid. They thought a 'GT package' would fill that gap between the Rebel and the TRX. I caught on to this real quick and saw this as a weak response to Ford's Tremor and Chevy's ZR2. To me, the GT package should've also included the 392 like they have in the stupid and impractical Wrangler Unlimited and Mopar's 2in Fox lift kit. It would also help if they included new paint colors for the Rebel every now and then or a limited run of color options like gator clear coat that was available in the '20 Built to Serve Editions. The current color options are boring and now the '23 Rebel only has four available colors.

I think that space will definitely be filled after their EV truck smashes the competition

Had a 2019 Rebel bought in July of 2018. Paid $52,000. 3 months ago I was offered $45,500. I took it! Don’t get me wrong I loved that truck. Did everything I ever needed it to do and looked sharp doing it. Take an annual 10 day fishing trip to the eastern sierras. Never got stuck and went way more places then any of the other guys! When I sold it I wanted the GT. Couldn’t get one. Ended up with a Ridgeline. Not a bad NART (Not A Real Truck). I miss my Rebel!

It's a nice truck but $$$. Save your money and get a ram classic, 3.92, factory skids, bilstein 5100 set 2.8", 1" rear spacers, upgraded upper control arms, duratrac lt275/65/70.

Best part of Stellantis Ram is you get the notorious Hemi TICK as a bonus. Ram 5.7 is the most outdated slowest truck on the market.

Rebel is barely more than an appearance package. They had something special with the Ram Runner, and don't make anything like it now. If they took the TRX and offered it with the base Hemi and 392 and priced them reasonably (maybe 50, 70, and 90 grand reasonably optioned) then they could more than competitive with Ford and Chevy. Oh, and also offer more leg room. Just another inch or two of track length on the driver seat and they'll have - hands down - the most comfortable truck for big guys. As it is, Chevy trounces them in leg room but falls way behind with limited hip and shoulder space. Ford, eh, they've never been any good at packaging, at least not in the past 20-30 years. If Toyota had kept V8 and diesels alive in the Tundra, they would be sniping all kinds of market share now.
