You were suppose to have a plate in the tour pack to prevent that specific thing from happening. The amazon brands dont include them and you have to buy them separately.

I think Advanblack and TCMT are the same tour pack. They're both Chinese made. I watched another video recently from a guy who had the same issue with the cracked bottom on his Advanblack king pack.

The king tour pak body flexes even with a bottom plate. The latch stays locked but opens up anyway. Need to stiffen inside corners get HD latch. Might help.

Thanks... You just saved me some cash I was just looking at a chopped from TCMT. But I think I will travel the way I've always traveled with my Military Duffel or Outlaw Duffel. Everything else goes into the saddlebags.

Did you have the metal plate on the inside. The base of the tour pak gets sandwiched between the metal plate and the docking mount.

That’s a much better build than TCMT. I’m getting the Hogworkz brand. Once you go king you can’t go back.

Did you have the steel mounting plate that is recommended for the inside? What size mounting bolts and nuts did you use? Finally what quick disconnect rack did you get as well? I have the TCMT 10" chopped set-up with steel inner bottom plate half inch stainless steel screws and nuts and XMFT lowers I have put approximately 50 thousand miles or so down with no failures on a 2015 Street Glide which is now at 98 thou. There are a few other tricks that are suggested to do when using the AMAZON after market parts. However my latest purchase a 2022 Road Glide Limited negated the need to do all of that over again. Just wanted to know how you mounted the unit as I was thinking of purchasing the King for the Street Glide!

I'm sorry for the not good experience. Our technical engineer reviewed your installation video and gave the following suggestions. This is the excessive bearing capacity and uneven road surface, the downward movement of the king tour pack and the cutting force generated by the edge of the tour pack frame after turbulence make the tour pack and the tour pack's frame mounting surface crack. If no baseplate is installed inside, it is recommended to use a large gasket. At the same time, regarding this order, you can contact the seller for after-sales service. If you have any further questions, please let us know.

I did not have the cracking problem, but the latch would not keep the lid shut. Quality is defiantly lacking.

Tour pack has to have a plate inside to mount to the bracket, otherwise this is what happens. I have the same setup but I have the plate on the inside.

You need a the plate and also there is sponge like that you put on the bracket to prevent it from vibrating. TCMT is good quality. Your the first review so far that had a bad experience. The fact that you travel over thousands of miles it still held up should tell you something.

Ive had a knockoff for several years and way overloaded probably to many times. The crack never happened..but the latch sucks.

I should have said you used the improper mounting plate. Not the plate that fits in the recess that you used but the large plate that covers most of the inside of the box molded to enclose the recess.You know the one with the ground terminal tabs..Not my first rodeo either. I've been building and riding bikes since I was 12, I'm 68 now...

This recessed plate you are talking about, why do they only offer a flat plate on their website. Is the recessed plate a newer design or outdated? Only videos or reviews I see only show the flat plate which makes be believe the recessed one is newer and the flat is outdated. But they won’t sell the recessed one on TCMT website. Has picture of it though. Like to hear your opinion on this.

I had TCMT chopped and King tour paks , lowers for my old Street glide. Had trouble with latches staying closed. Ended up spending big bucks on a king tour pak from HD for my CVO Street glide. I figured why put that knock off shit on a 40K bike. I do like Advanblacks products 💪🏿

Exactly! There are companies that make great things like advanblack and hogworkz. It doesn’t have to be harley but you can lose with any of the three. No more cheap crap for me.

You identified the big issue with this cheap king tour pak. The tour pak body flexes and the cheap latch while still latched separates from the lid and your stuff is bouncing down the highway. On my replacement I lined the inside box corners with metal mesh and Bondo to stiffen it up but still not enough stiffness. I used a metal floor too. Maybe put a HD latch which costs over $200 prolly close to 300 with the lock. Imo TCMT is dishonest with the reviews. I bought mine a couple years ago and there were many bad reviews about this issue and now theres no mention of this problem. I will say that when I sent a pic to TCMT with broken twisted hinges I got a replacement 8:13 TP immediately.

I had it for 4 months. But I rode the heck out of my bike on these long trips. TCMT definitely didn't hold up well.

When you become a hard-core long distance rider, you can't buy cheap equipment for your bike. Your bike is bouncing up and down for thousands of miles, sending shockwaves through the frame, engine, and fairings. Cheap accessories and parts won't survive that type of punishment. Unfortunately, you have to spend the money for quality parts from Harley-Davidson or any of their authorized part suppliers, and that's going to come with a hefty price tag.

Advanblack, propad. Hogworks ND TCMT all get the tourpak from the same manufacturer. Your mistake was not ordering the full size mounting plate. With out it you will break. The new one aswell. You made a mistake
