I believe KZfaq has changed for the worse. I've been using KZfaq majorly since ~2011, but I've watched so much old content and learned about how things used to be that even starting in 2011 I've watched the "community/people" aspect decline and the "business/money" side increase after Google starting getting heavily involved. I feel concern for creators that rely on AdSense revenue and hope everything will be fine for them. I don't know how many will leave the platform, because despite it's problems, there really isn't a good replacement for it. In my opinion, KZfaq was an amazing platform from 2006/7-2012, and it seems to have gone downhill from there as a company. In the past probably 4 years everything has gotten so commercial, and don't get me wrong, some commercial stuff is fine, but sometimes there is a point of "too much" and it gets crossed. I kinda miss the days when KZfaq was just people making videos for fun, or to help people. There was a time when people just made videos casually in their bedrooms or whatever, and that's gone. Apologies if this was disjointed, I just kinda let my thoughts flow out.

I like what you said. I miss those days, where they would use webcams or old camcorders of them in their rooms talking straight to the camera.

It's even worst for us smaller KZfaqrs, where every cent we make is going back into our videos buying and making props, wigs, and whatever else we need to make better things. Now we don't have that. The only way to be decent or to make our videos self-sustaining is to get up there and be 1 of the top youtubers which isn't easy

ALL the emotions in this video!!! Love how much fun and the break you had at the start... DO IT MORE!!!! As for KZfaq... We have no idea what is happening with it but I am glad you are doing brand deals to help with stability a bit more!! You have an awesome community right now who love everything you do and will stand by you, that community WILL grow, no matter what platform you use!! Let's hope KZfaq changes to benefit the creators!! I can remember receiving an email from KZfaq asking about thoughts and the future of KZfaq!! It would be devastating to see AMAZING creators like you suffer!! All the love!! ❤️

I'm just waiting for a big KZfaqr to take the big leap in launching a new "youtube" like platform. Cause obviously this website isn't going to work for people (ESPECIALLY new people) anymore. They may somewhat fix the current issue, but something else will come up later. It will never be ideal

KZfaq is a mess. Let's be open and serious. However, if KZfaq itself dies, I think there's a lot of room to start over. Smaller companies launching for different areas of what youtube would have been... A gaming video platform. Music video platform. And on. Maybe they'll combine. I think the future is still bright- just in a different way. The dream of being a youtuber is dead. All the channels I watch are just ... slowly deteriorating and it's not their fault. The community is still there but it's like we're all walking through an infinite desert together. Not everyone will be able to make it through. But, this is the time to rebuild. There's hope. New popular forms of video media will start to appear. The old is gone, but the new is yet to come. So, let's not shut out the video dream yet. Who knows what's in store.

It's a reality of the digital space it's always changing and keeping up is not easy and algorithm changes and keeping up with that side of the structure while also keeping people interested is such a struggle not to mention new KZfaq channels that get no highlights at all and without "viral" or "drama" it's hard to garner attention to videos. It's a huge balance of staying true to yourself while also keeping up with the trends enough to hopefully pick up new people along the way that will hopefully fall for your personality. I've been watching KZfaq for so long and have seen many many KZfaqrs come and go because of all these many factors. KZfaq is a HUGE platform but it's always changing. For example with restricted mode hiding LGBT videos and the demonetization issues with channels and the one period where subscribers would randomly be unsubscribe (KZfaq unsubbed me from trisha I never knew until I noticed I hadn't seen her vids and than saw I was Not subscribed) it's all interesting factors that effect many creators. It will be interesting to see what the future of KZfaq is.

KZfaq has definitely changed over the years. It feels like a lot are worried about how they're going to make money. A few years ago I rarely heard about it and people were a lot happier. You guys put in a lot of effort, time and money making these videos and you should get paid a good amount for it. It sounds to me like there should be a whole new website created. A new KZfaq.

I hope things work out, Meghan! I have been watching your videos for YEARS now. I remember when you first started this channel to vlog everyday for a year and I was there through all the changes, collabs, rebranding, relaunching and I can only imagine how difficult it is to try and adapt every time. Just know for every person in the comments who have something negative to say, there's way more people who are loyal followers and just love your genuine presence on this platform. You feel more like a long-time friend than an "influencer."

My revenue has halfed since Christmas. It's a partnership 65/35... If KZfaq are hurting their creators they are hitting their own bottom line too. And it will be a melting snowball. Less revenue for creators = less motivation to create + less uploads + less views + less ad displays = less interested advertisers. I guess now they are attracting big producers like Disney they think they can afford to not care about smaller channels? I have been working hard to improve my channel and the reward has gone down. My best uploads are getting less views than my worst uploads two years ago. KZfaq Partner since 2008... I hear Wix now have a way to sell and monetise your own video channel... Check it out.

As a very new KZfaqr this could actually kill my channel, I am almost 18, I spend all of my free time creating videos, but in 4 months when I can't just do youtube and have to get a job I won't have the time anymore, I have all the money I've gotten from my channel to give my parents when I do turn 18 but it's frightening, I finally got the courage to put myself out there and unless I'm a 100% family friendly channel my channel could just die, I love this community and this sucks for me, cuz I had a view for the future of my channel and now I'm not so sure about it.

I feel that YT does this every other year. Really change things so that it sends everyone out to change as well. I don't really know how it all really works but I do feel for you and everyone who has built a great community, career and brand on the platform. I wish there was more I could do for some of the YT'ers like yourself who I have been following since 2011. As for getting older. I am right there with you, a few years older but yeah. At this point, stability at home and financially is something of a must. Not really sure where my career is going but well, life is meant to be lived I suppose. :D

my opinion on KZfaq is that their should of been a solid contact on KZfaqrs that been on for a long time and have a income not based on views but on the hour's and time they put into their videos. I know how long it take just to have a perfect pictures I have a small jewelry line and by me making my own jewelry and talking pictures and selling and posting it takes me 2weeks to make at lest 20 items 2 more weeks too take perfect pictures and another week too sell them so it's a month and half worth of hard work and time to do all by myself . I know how Maghn feels stress and frustrated I'm hoping that KZfaq see's how much time is put in video's and pictures and all time is money!!

KZfaq is a "real job". They're working hard, taking part in business, and earning money. The difference with working on KZfaq is the fact that they get to have fun and inspire people at the same time. I want the old KZfaq back. Working for KZfaq is a dream because it's a job that you can love so much. I mean c'mon. What's the difference between a "real" job and working for KZfaq? It's part of the entertainment world and also gives inspiration advice. I'd even say KZfaq creators change and save lives. But KZfaq, for real please don't turn the company into something so black and white, I like color a whole lot better.

Shane Dawson was talking about similar stuff on his Snapchat the other day. His videos about darker stuff like weird deaths and conspiracy theories are being demonetized, so he might have to make less of them. I think I'd be devastated if any of my favorite creators had to stop doing KZfaq. You, Shane, Joey, and Tana.. Idk what I'd do if any of you had to stop. I'll still support everyone on whatever they decide to move to, but it's definitely still gonna be hard seeing them having to quit doing something that they love so much. I've been watching KZfaq since I was 9 or 10, and the amount of changes KZfaq has made since then is crazy. KZfaq really needs to get its stuff together.

The KZfaq community is something so amazing and I love it. I'll fight for it and I'm 100% positive others would too. I've been waiting to do KZfaq till I got a job so that I could pay for equipment and things like that in my own. I don't want something this amazing to disappear. I don't want to tell my kids one day about KZfaq and have them not even know it existed. I want the community to get stronger, not weaker like it has been. KZfaq better pull it together because once they loose their biggest KZfaqrs, they won't have anything.

people saying that youtubers should get a real job... youtube is a real job, its no different for working with a company and being dependent on that company. like, some of you are saying that people shouldn't rely on youtube as a source of income bc its not reliable but how is it any different working in a shop, where if something happens, that job could easily become redundant and you loose your job without being able to stop it.

KZfaq isn't dead. It's just unfortunately changed so much that it has just become about the adsense. Thankfully there are some creators out there that do still make videos to be creative, and just have fun doing a really cool job. KZfaq has become so competitive for views though, that yea, I bet it's hard to maintain as a full-time career now versus like 5 years ago. And it must be discouraging seeing videos like those "satisfying slime" videos get more views than something you've spent weeks creating. But hey, as long as there are still people out there that accept and support you, the dream is never dead.

This is not directed at you personally, you actually always tried to evolve, and maybe because you didn't take the easy route things have been hard for you, but a lot of popular KZfaqrs stopped being "creators" a long time ago. Everyone feels pressured to do videos that will give them a lot of views, like all those moronic challenges, even if that was not what the chanel was all about in the first place. Maybe now we will see who are the true communicators and who's in it just for the money.

Life is too short and if Im forced to spend most of my life in a fucking office you better believe Im spending the rest of it outside! Also, I think you just cant fully rely on a platform you have no control over. Philip DeFranco gets it, though his career is solely based on YT his revenue is diversified. Professional content creators simply have to diversify their income sources- sponsors, retail, blogs, etc. Honestly, that sounds more fun anyway

It's the equivalent of being laid off... I think creators who have had a regular job or employment and have gone through downsizing or layoffs will be the ones that survive because they've been through the tough times... what you said was correct too... don't put all your eggs in one basket.. even in a regular job. I've been in mortgage for 27 years, but 2008 to 2012 there was virtually no jobs in my industry. But I've done other things in my life, so I was okay. People need to Save money, don't live beyond your means... or there will be a whole lot more van dwellers on youtube... 😳

I think there is a possibility to turn this negative into a positive and by bringing the youtube community together as a whole ie the positive content creators who are on youtube, I think the youtube dream can and will survive. KZfaq isn't going to do that, they already showed you what they are going to do and that is look out for themselves by bringing about youtube tv. To accomplish this youtube creators must come together and unite, push a positive idea, the youtube dream. I am not a big youtuber, I honestly don't make vlogs and or even talk in my videos but I know what can make a difference, and by doing this and showing the viewers and corporations that youtube creators can come together and unite and make a positive impact on society then they will come back and things will get better.
