@tickticktickBOOOOM
@tickticktickBOOOOM 2 жыл бұрын
@@grayeaglej It's actually easier to make a gun automatic than semi-auto. You have to add a bunch of parts to make it stop after one shot. Making a semi-auto into full auto is simply a matter of filing down a single sear, something that cycling the action enough times will do. Most of the guns I've heard about that happening to were WWII 1911s that kept being used for decades afterwards.
@grayeaglej
@grayeaglej 2 жыл бұрын
@@tickticktickBOOOOM "Filing down the sear" is sort of a semi-myth. Yes there are a few models of pistol and semi-auto rifle that its possible to do that, ive owned two myself, however there is nothing but the blowback and recoil spring to control the cyclic rate and so you end up with constant jams and failures to feed. Also the few weapons this "hack" works on almost all have magazine capacities under 10 rounds, making them useless as automatic weapons. Now yes, building a blowback operated pistol caliber auto is far less mechanically complex than trying to build an interupter trigger group to make a semi auto, and once you get into the case pressures of rifle rounds you have to start dealing with action lockup otherwise you can explode your face. O.o What I was specifically referring to though was the Filipino/South American "Liberator Shotgun", a slam fire single shot made from two sizes of pipe. Its intended to be used to blast a large hole in an enemy at short range from ambush so that a "freedom fighter" could then take the Enemy's superior weapons. Thats how most criminals get thier weapons as well, in places where only the Police and Military have guns "Criminals" use homemade weapons, knives, clubs, etc to ambush the Cops/Soldiers and take thier weapons. Or they find corrupt Cops/Soldiers willing to sell them weapons, or they steal from Squad Cars, Politicians/Cops/Soldiers homes, Armories, etc. Even if the Government COMPLETELY disarms the People, as long as the GOVERNMENT still has weapons then CRIMINALS will still have access to those same weapons.

Another thing worth noting is Niven's law. You already trust regular joes with a starship that (even ignoring the hyperspace ram from the new trilogy) can simply plow into another, killing many in the process. High-density energy cells and gravity manipulation tech also means that someone who's prohibited could slap something lethal together in a small workshop. Your typical powerpack for a blaster probably has the electrochemical potential to match a grenade if it where so tampered with. By comparison, a blaster is fairly mild. And in a lot of ways they're more humane: many have stun modes (something a 9mm doesn't have), and the cauterize. So aside from the modified DL-44 or Disruptor, a medic might be able to help. Most likely, the regulation would have been on the tabanna gas they used as a lasing medium/reaction mass.

Frankly, I found the final battle in Rise of Skywalker to be the best pro-2nd Amendment scene ever. They very specifically say that the ships who show up to fight Palpatine's fleet weren't a navy. They were just....people. So, after the federal government of the galaxy got destroyed in two seconds, the people showed up with their privately owned ships and weapons and took care of business themselves? Boom! 2nd Amendment for the win! Thanks Kennedy! 👍

People being able to own their own ships, load them with whatever and get past any form of customs definitely doesn't do much in terms of "control." Sure, the majority of people probably didn't own ships and had to take a shuttle (real world equivalent of an airline) and that may have been easier to control but Han Solo going wherever he goes rocking a DL-44 on his hip is nigh impossible to enforce. Blaster control is a joke, all the criminals have them and the law abiding citizens may as well too. The fact that law enforcement has to resort to bounty hunters in many cases to enforce some kind of justice is only further evidence that many law enforcement agencies in Star Wars are at best a borderline joke, but then again, what could they do in such a situation? Can ANY government effectively rule the galaxy?

The Star Wars galaxy is a bit of a frontier and is always in a sort of "expansion mode" despite the advanced technology. The Core regions seemed to have a sense of stability but even that couldn't be 100% strict. The Empire actually fell as a result of a militia (Rebels) having access to weapons due to lack of legislation and/or lack of enforcement of existing legislation. Same can be said of the defeat of the First Order and in fact, more so as those freedom fighters were a lot less organized. Palpatine may have realized this, and had to win over the hearts and minds of the people so even if they had the means to fight him, they genuinely didn't have the desire to, that in combination of fear of the Imperial military. This resulted in 19 years of relative peace until war did break out and Death Stars were destroyed.

Sure it's essential to have a gun in Alaska, it's a frontier and help might be hours away. On the other hand many of our cities have gone to poop, and even if help is minutes away, violent crime happens in seconds. The police see what happened and are rarely there at the initiation of the event, they rarely get that lucky. It's up to you to fend for yourself in the best way possible. Unfortunately many cities have severely restricted the ability to defend yourself.

The 2A was made stating that while the United States needed a military, it is the right of the people to be capable of bearing arms to defend themselves from threats and to be able to fight back in the event the government became tyrannical. That is why every tyrannical government such as Nazi Germany, Communist China, and Soviet Russia all had strict gun laws that disarmed the people in the name of "safety". It should also be said that shooter aids and the advancement of technology should not be restricted as the 2A was designed with the knowledge that technology would soon surpass that of black powder muskets and swords.

Also Alan there is no “shooting aid “ you can’t just slap something on a weapon and it magically makes you a better shot the only way to shoot better is to practice I don’t think you take owning a firearm a seriously as it should be taken cause a firearm is a tool like any other be it used for anti tyranny defense or hunting it matters very little but if I draw my weapon and I use it to defend myself or others I am relying purely on my skill as a shooter to be able to land those shots , not over-penetrate and hurt someone else than intended and a myriad of other factors that make owning a firearm a very serious right , but a very important thing to be good and proficient at within said right is to actually understand your weapon it’s capabilities and it’s incapabilities and how best and safely to use it accurately , quickly , and most importantly just in case I’m not redundant enough SAFETY IS THE 1ST PRIORITY NO ONE WANTS TO BE SHOT. That’s just bold not yelling promise but seriously a firearm cannot just be aided to shoot it you have to practice and get better, suppressors also Dont make a difference don’t even really quiet a gun enough to make it not noticeable when fired , nothing I can put on my gun is going to make it any deadlier I can make the bullets have more velocity but that’s not to say it makes it hit you and somehow bleed anymore than you would with a normal gunshot of the same round

Check your stats and really think about it. Violent crime rates dropped in direct opposition to gun ownership growing. (ie. fewer crooks want to risk dealing with an armed citizen.) Also, a fact the major/mainstream news agencies refuse to cover is the U. S. yearly gun death numbers once you remove suicide is reduced to around 20,000 a year where documented cases of lives being saved by guns are around 2,000,000 a year. I don't have the data in front of me and my memory is not great, but the "approximate" numbers I have given convey the point adequately if not exactly.

There are plenty of examples of blaster control in Star Wars novels, both canon and legends. In the Brian Daly Han Solo books, Han had to hand over his blaster upon landing on one planet. In another case, when he and Chewie returned to the Falcon after completing their business, they met a ship inspector from the Corporate Sector Authority who wanted to fine Han for exceeding his ship's weapons allowance.

You forgot to mention disruptors! In Star Wars Legends (not sure about canon), disruptor weaponry were illegal under the Republic, Empire and New Republic/Galactic Alliance because they basically disintegrated the target. In other words, they were too powerful. Completely negating most armors and the opportunity for a sentient being to be wounded rather than killed. Therefore, disruptor blasters were outlawed, although they still found their way into the hands of many criminal organizations for obvious reasons.

@@jakestark2483 Gun control is largely ineffective and really only makes a government get drunk on power before becoming oppressive because there's no armed populace to push-back, also on most firearms purchases there is a background check among other things, if you tax it only the rich can get it if you outright ban it you're empowering a government that may or may not have your best interests at heart. Additionally, the qualification for a massed shooting is pretty loose, it's something like 3 or more killed or injured no matter the severity, and most of that can be chalked up to gang violence additionally most mass shootings are conducted with handguns not rifles, check the details more and less statistics, it's easy to throw numbers around and sound smart, but there's more to it than just numbers.
