It may come to the point where sex is impossible for a couple. The marriage continues without sex, it is still a marriage.

@gwenettajohnson503 There are a few categories here, which are key to separate. The choice to abstain, and abstinence thrown upon the marriage. Assuming a healthy marriage, choosing to abstain should be a mutual agreement between husband and wife. for a time.

This weekend, I saw a magazine headline at a store about some celebrity sexless marriage. I love the answer you two give to your fb question. Before I married my second husband (after being divorced for twenty years) I realized that my desire to be married had shifted from being about what I could get to what I could offer.

If you can't learn to bend your mind and perspectives while married, good luck becoming your best self. The same holds true with your partner. Be sympathetic, empathetic, open and kind to one another. Always bury the worst conflicts and never bring them up again. Resolving conflicts amicably and moving forward after the battle is over is essential to a long, happy union. Do more for your partner than you would for anyone else, and yet keep in mind you may need to put your children's or grandchildren's needs first, at times. Finally, set life goals together and work together to realize them. Oh, and resolve every issue before going to sleep. The resolution and sleep will make putting difficult matters behind much easier.

Wow! very difficult and disturbing for two healthy adults. Unless both partners agree that’s what they want. A sexless marriage, hum, well outside of Illness, ED, elderly (80+) or specific medical reason/condition a sexless marriage is basically known as a future divorce!

I love how much you two are made for each other. You know how you see a couple and you can't imagine one without the other... That's what I see with the 2 of you. Sexless marriages exist. People continue to stay married because they are happy with and love their partner.

It's sad that they were not secure in themselves to cover the topic. It's obvious they had not thought it through, or did research, to make sure they gave a sound reply.

I'm guessing the "better self" is God using marriage to make you more holy. Ecclesiastes talks about two being better than one and marriage was God's idea in Genesis. Sex is one benefit but it also leads to children so that's another reason for marriage.

No, that's a bad marriage unless you both agree to it. You should be having regular conversations with your spouse to make sure both of your needs are met.

Before I watch this: the answer is "yes" There are many people (almost exclusively men) who can't have sex due to impotence. But a lot of these men still want to get or remain married. So again, common sense says "yes". now some accommodations might need to be made if their partner would still like to have sex with another physical being. But again, the answer is "yes".

WRONG! If you are married, there is NO ACCOMMODATION for having sexual relations with someone other than your spouse. That is ADULTERY, plain and simple!
