Marked For Death Abandoned Railroad Crossing Restored ?
First some railway crossing gets destroyed by Hurricane Irma by breaking all the crossing gates in 2017 (Link to video below). Then, the last 12 miles of the CSX Homestead Subdivision were officially abandoned on March 2019 ( The last 12 miles begin from here South ). And now it is officially on the chopping block with a recently installed stop sign on the train tracks which I assume CSX placed. Not to mention there are 10 feet tall weeds and trees growing between the rails along with rotting cross ties and missing rail spikes along the tracks going South! The signals have all been folded up and the crossing gates removed in addition to the stop sign. The last train to use this line was in 2016 and it was for storage.
This line was built in 1926 by Seaboard Air Line to bring passenger service to Homestead, Florida and connected with the Miami extension of the Overseas Railway parallel to US 1 in FL City. In 1929, it became a freight line and 2016 was the last time it saw activity; removal of the stored hoppers on the line.

I still find it amazing that the bike lanes are made like a separate brightline track while the jogging Lane is like a slow-moving FEC freìght. Apparently there must be some list at the Florida DOT of people versus bike crashes. It looks like some brush cutting happened earlier this year again but is now growing back. Hopefully someday some good news comes out of this

Thank you for taking us back to the Krone Avenue crossing four months after our last visit. The only difference between what we saw before and what we see now is that broken gate arm and some other broken light fixtures on the ground. I was thinking that the broken pieces from the signal might have occurred when a truck might have sideswiped the signal. However, there does not appear to be any damage to the ground near the signal which would be an indication that a vehicle came close to the signal in order to damage parts of the signal.

If the tracks and other infrastructure are still in place are you sure line is not merely "out of service" rather than abandoned. A reference to the STB filings records would shed light on actual status of this line.

I saw those visors and that light and thinking sticky fingers. In all actuality that looks like someone's photo opportunity. I can just see the mayor of Miami in front of a camera declaring what they've done for the bicyclists and pedestrians of Miami!. Yeah, its just that pretty, just look it's like you said you have a bike lane and walking path talk about safety!

@railrol82 I don't think they're going to doing anything because that's been like that for like two years now and that is just a waste of money for new signals when it is not done and the grass taking over the tracks again

If you want to restore a railroad then please come out to Oregon and help rebuild the railroad between Banks and The Tillamook Coast. And also restore the Banks-Vernonia Railroad.

Please check out the seabrook railroad crossing in seabrook Maryland if you ever have time to visit Washington, D.C. there’s lots of old crossing sites that aren’t there anymore but seabrook has some wrrs poles left that remains

Just when you thought they would do something here but it still looks the same. Who knows if they will do something or maybe it's what you said about the government spending.
