In 1979, Clive Anderson got a new job and a company car!
But what about his one of a kind 1970 GT Falcon?
It went under the house, and didn't move until 2023.
Grays Auctions say it is a 1 of a kind car, Channel 7 says it is worth $500k.
They say a car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, so this auction will tell us exactly that.
What do you think?

Cars like these are worth what some people think they are worth!! I and others who drove cars of that era know how ordinary they are to drive.

It sold for like $225k buyer would need to sink another $150k minimum in restoring it Perhaps at auction all said and done $450-$550k.

I had a green XB Fairmont Coupe, 302 stroked to 351, pretty solid and done up in GT livery, sold it about 23 years ago for $2000. Do I regret it, hell yes, because I know now that if I had of kept it then I could have sold it today to some dill with way more money than sense.

Sadly dodgy auctions, fake bids and fake ‘museums’ have inflated the prices of these cars well beyond the grasp of the majority of people who were actually enthusiasts now.

Yeah but I mean it actually sold for $230k, not a fake bid, someone else was obviously making counter bids. You know what they say, its worth what someone will pay for it.

@@obiemichaels9675Are you talking about that Bathurst XU1 that was in one of my videos? I believe that was sold but the bidder couldn't come up with the cash or couldn't be verified so it was auctioned again. We do see that happen from time to time. Not sticking up for them, but if they accept a bid in good faith and then it doesn't work out, its not really their fault. What they all do though, is make bold claims about cars that to the casual observer seem to add value when in fact the claims may be untrue or irrelevant to the actual value of the car. That really annoys me.

@@BorkenGarage no a few years ago there was an auction house that sells a lot of cars that was saying they sold cars for certain prices and they were well above the actual selling price. There was a museum that was working with them as well and cars would appear in the museum and then be for sale again almost immediately. I know someone who bought a car from the auction house that they promoted as selling for a certain price as well that then suddenly inflated the prices but in actual fact he bought it directly from the owner. Once that happened the auction house wiped their hands of the car and it turned up trashed. And it wasn’t the place shown here

Do mechanical, fuel, tyres ect clean it inside & out and leave it as a Survivor. It it a factory delete stripe car ?
@BorkenGarage
@BorkenGarage 6 ай бұрын
That's what I would do, but if I had the $230k to buy it, I might have the money to do it properly. Not sure about the stripe delete. Not even sure if a 70 GT had a stripe. Edit: Looks like it should have the Superoo logo and stripe. Is that correct?

No its not ten years from now no one will have a living memory's of these cars except a 100 or so people that payed over the top prices for these cars the rest of us remember these cars when they could he brought for 1500 dollars up my calais is a test car with stickers on the inner door jamb ls1 etc it's never going to be worth this money but it will have a value far past it's true value till those that don't remember these cars maybe 30 years time .most people who drove one of these cars remember a good car luck luster performance compared to a ls1 no brakes after 4 or 5 70 miles a hour stops in the back streets and fond memory's but most are near death or couldn't push the clutch pedal in gtho maybe will have 15 year run then there done the generation of owners don't have a memory to spend 1 Mil on a gt they can't even buy a garage to put it in .profit by prohibition trick make it rare and exotic when it was cheap and a bit dangerous. Most of these cars are not what they where 10 years after they left Ford half were stolen half were rebirth half were never seen again but they all seem to be more than Ford ever built .no no no not for a million dollars would I pay 200k for this

This is where I get annoyed with the media saying its a half a million dollar car. Its clearly not, but if you're bidding on it, then in the back of your mind anything under that is a bargain. And anyone bidding against you is thinking the same thing which of course encourages everyone to bid higher than they might have otherwise. And yeah, any 'nice' old Holden is $30-$40k. Cars of similar vintage in the US can be bought for $10-$15k but again that is the supply and demand thing. There are a lot more cars over there than were ever here. I am genuinely surprised we don't have a lot more cars being imported because the cost of buying and importing is surely less than buying a local car. I guess most of us want a specific model though.....not many Holdens to import from the US.

@BorkenGarage Yer I'm old school and unfortunately remember prices of what l paid, or saw for cars in the 70s & 80s If you can get it, and they obviously do great, but l wouldn't. You really can't drive them how they were meant to nowadays with cameras everywhere, man I'd last 1 week and have no licence. Thanks for the video
