This 3d printed instrument allows you to play almost any pop song / music with ease. (FYI: I don't actually think it's actually better than a guitar). It is a custom invention, homemade, DIY, 3d printed instrument printed on my Creality CR10 and Ender 3. Can you guess the songs?

acoustic guitars have the hole under the strings so if instead of outting one hole in the middle you put 4 on each side Im pretty sure it whould sound better, also if it was made of wood

@@praisethyjeebus it does, the acoustics change a lot. It would be better if there were four holes and if the material were better at bouncing and conveying sound.

The hole is not much of a factor in the sound of a guitar, it's mostly the top surface that matters to amplify the vibration of the strings. Plastic will not sound good no matter the hole.

I'd love to see you put more time into making it sounding better. It's muted and sounds bad from a musical aspect, I think better stringing and maybe changing the material of the wheels to mute the notes less would be great for start

This is an amazing concept! I wonder if you could put in some pick ups and connect to an amp? I guess you need 4x the pick ups. Some way tune the tension easily for key changes? And changing to CNC cut FR4 front plate might get better rigidity once the design is perfected.
@tunedtoeb

That's a really nice idea :D but I do have some ideas/suggestions: 1. I seen some talk about making 4 holes in the body instead of the one central one. That seems nice to add in if you haven't; not sure if you did lol. 2. What if you made a baritone squaretar that was an octave lower? I bet it would sound interesting at that octave, and perhaps if it's too big to print normally, some parts could connect/interlock or something? Or maybe make an alto/tenor squaretar just a fifth lower? (I'd consider your current one a soprano instrument lol) Not sure what you want to do, but it's just an idea :) 3. I have no idea how frets would turn out on a squaretar, but some way of getting different notes would be interesting if you feel like exploring that, optionally.

I love the clever design, actually quite ingenious to maintain the correct proportions per string to get the 4 chords.

For everyone commenting on the sound hole being beside the strings, this is a standard practice on jazz guitars as well as ovation acoustic guitars.

Love it! 1) would be neat to try 3d printed "bearings". They just need reasonably low friction (add oil?). 2) Would be cool if the tuning pegs were also 3D printed.

All jokes aside what an incredible idea. Obviously you are limited to certain songs, but not only would this be incredibly easy to learn but could inspire and motivate those same people to pick up guitar or another instrument with more of a range! This genuinely should be bought up by a music company, many real world applications!! Its main fallbacks are sound (as another commenter has already said) and personally i think the aesthetics are a little goofy. This would be better laser cut i believe, and maybe in a slightly more desirable shape like a diamond!
