Leg 2/2 of overlanding in Japan! A different form of van life - or is it camping?! Either way, it's been an adventurous dream of ours for a while now and we thought- what better country do experience it in other than Japan!
This powerful 4x4 could take us around any area of Japan with ease - so of course, we chose the mountains! Steeps hills and terrain, this was nothing for this Land rover defender 90.
Join us as we adventure into the Japanese alps. We've heard about the art of Japanese forest bathing for a while now and couldn't wait to try it out. The last time we got naked was when we headed to the nude beach in Wales a few years ago and we've been eager to try it out in public again since!
We took the overlander up into the mountains and trekked for a little while to find this hidden gem. Hot springs are everywhere in Japan and it's the normal culture to go in naked as sometimes they mention using a bathing suit will spoil the water and pollute it.
I think this is the best hot spring we've ever found!

I use Campendium and Free Roam apps to find free or cheap camping in the US. Loving the Japan videos and as a vegetarian, always appreciate seeing what you eat while traveling! Also, I think your videos are the only ones where I actually don’t skip through the sponsor sections. ♥️

Love the honesty of plant based dish washing while camping. Scrap last night's dinner & then add tonight's dinner. Definitely done it 😂 Absolutely stunning hot springs. When you visit Oregon or Washington check out the nature hot springs comparable to Japan.

So when you travel Canada jasper Alberta has minnett hot springs it’s the same absolutely fantastic. In Canada (Nova Scotia) I've used iOverlander and it's pretty good! I've found it tends to be updated by other users pretty regularly so most spots I've gone to have been as described :)

In Canada we have both National and Provincial Parks. They are very well maintained, most often in beautiful wilderness locations. The most popular ones need to be booked well in advance and can be pricey. I recommend staying off the most travelled routes and finding the less used ones. Most of them have pit toilets but are well- ventilated and maintained. There are also many privately owned campgrounds which are quite expensive. There’s more but let’s keep those less public. In Alberta many of the small towns have city-run campgrounds. It would be wise to get a National Parks pass which can make your camping less expensive.

Tons of park ups in Canada. I live in BC, there are less places you can’t park than you can. There is a hot spring loop in the Kootenays too. ❤
