We were diving in Venice Florida for ancient Megalodon teeth when we made a very unexpected discovery. I have been fossil hunting in Florida since I could hold a shovel and I can honestly say this is one of the rarest things we have ever discovered... To find out what exactly it is stick around for the video!
A special shoutout to Captain Michael Nastasio from Black Gold Fossil Charters for inviting us out exploring, if you want to book your own charter with him in Venice, FL you can go to his Facebook page below or leave him a voicemail:

I was born in Largo, but my father worked for GTE, we moved to Venice Florida in 1967. I have found thousands of sharks teeth over the years, but those are some really nice ones. I didn't dive when I was younger or I might have been able to find more further out. We also found a lot of teeth in ancient shoreline deposits far inland as well. Everytime a dump truck dumped gravel for driveway somewhere we would stop and find some nice teeth. I wish more young people put their phones down and got out to find history like this...it would open their eyes.

You got that right! I hunt every chance I get during the Summer and I have to make myself stop after 5-6 plus hours. I'm 35 but I have been taking my 6 & 10 year old and they love being out there as well. I'll do anything I can to keep them off of a smartphone/tablet all day every day.

Here in Sydney, Australia we have sharks, lots and lots of sharks, but I've never found a shark tooth. The only fossils I've ever found were on the Jurassic Coast in East Devon and West Dorset, England. I found a crystallised ammonite and a partial trilobite. Also a knapped flint scraper.

Those associated Dire Wolf teeth were so awesome! I'm pretty sure Chris and Kyle found some associated Dire Wolf teeth last year, from two separate dives. It is incredible when something like that happens. So...for the drawing, I think my favorite shirt is the Retro Meg but they are all way cool! Last but not least, I hope your cool Kat is doing well and enjoying the start to Summer break.🙂

I love what you do! Several years ago, I broke my back and my mobility is limited. It breaks my heart because I love being out in nature. Thanks to you, I get to explore places and things I would never get to experience. I guess you could say I'm living vicariously through you. I appreciate your videos and you taking us along on your journey. I am having a hard time picking just one design but my number one would be the "I'd Rather Be Fossil Hunting" hooded blanket. I chose it because I know I would use it every single day. I also love the Moonlight Megalodon Shirt, but I wouldn't get as much use out of it as I would the blanket. Please keep the videos coming. They really give me something to look forward to. ✌🏼&❤️ to you!

🤔 I've got a few questions related to "broken backs", since I'm in my 50s and I'm still doing work that has already led to back muscle injuries, but surprisingly nothing worse(yet). I had a mid back muscle pull in 94 that was severe, which put me in bed on my back for about a week, going through severely painful and uncontrollable spasming every time the flexeril wore off(every 4 hours). Then I'd pop more flexeril, which knocked me out cold for 4 more hours(til I awoke to spasms again). Rinse-repeat for a few more days. 👉1). What exact back injury did you sustain, and how long ago did it occur? 👉2). To what degree will it heal and return to normal strength(30%, or 50%, or 100%)? 👉3). How long will it take to reach its "maximum healing potential"? 👍Thanks. The reason I ask, is because it took a LONG time til my mid-back muscle pull fully healed. Even after it initially seemed to have healed in 1994, I'd manage to re-pull it once or twice every year or two, although the re-injuries weren't nearly as bad as the original. It wasn't til roughly 2006 that it FINALLY fully healed. Since then it hasn't acted up again. {But I pulled a shoulder muscle a few weeks ago).

@@HighlanderNorth1 hi there. i was drawn by the original comment by Kim and saw that you did not get a reply yet. Last time i ventured to comment in a similar context, the comment wasn't welcome, but with the best of intentions, i need to point to something obvious, which is the difference between bone and muscle. If Kim says he or she broke their back, it doesn't refer to a muscle pull or strain, in my belief.. It refers to the spinal column which is catastrophic injury and a completely different ballgame to anything purely muscular in nature, regardless of severity, which isn't to minimise any pain you may be in. Spinal injury often affects one's ability to use one's legs, permanently, which may likely result in the use of a chair for mobility. Meanwhile, you're talking about pulling a muscle . Not to be rude, but it's chalk and cheese. If you were able to visualise the person you're speaking to, you are probably addressing a person in a chair who is identifying the impact of this injury on their ability to pursue their interests about muscle strain in the back, as though these were the same conditions.. I'm sure you didn't intend to be rude, but if you imagine doing that in person, in my view, i would be raising my eyebrows. i think this misapprehension that you are talking about the same thing may relate to simply the use of the term "broke". i don't doubt that you could have functional problems with your back or that soft tissue injuries can have a severe impact on function. But in structural terms, if you can appreciate my good intentions, it may be not unlike comparing a migraine with a brain tumour. A migraine could put you out of action completely and cause great pain, especially if sequential, but a brain tumour threatens your life and requires intervention that may likely permanently change your body. In that sense, unless i am mistaken in what seems clear to me, the two conditions, although they affect the same body part, are not directly comparable (although tumours may perhaps be an underlying cause of a small quantity of migraines). The prognosis, if we use that analogy, is obviously very different for a migraine sufferer and a person diagnosed with a brain tumour. As far as i know, catastrophic spinal injury is PERMANENT. It is therefore life changing and will never heal even if a long time passes. One reason it is essential to recognise this is sensitivity. The injury is, AFAIK, usually associated with permanent inability to walk (although ability could vary depending on where exactly the break in the spinal column took place - but I'm not sure if this changes ability to walk - rather, if it happens higher up, it can cause quadraplegia and lower down, paraplegia). Hopefully you could understand that approaching, say, a person with paraplegia using a chair, talking about pulling a muscle that took a long time to heal, and asking them when they will heal up could be considered "tone deaf". Why? In my understanding, you don't really heal with that kind of injury which is exactly why this commenter explains it's cathartic for them to watch these videos as they can be adventurous vicariously. That's a positive vibe, where the person's mind is being taken away from their limits and involved in what's still possible. But then you have popped up to discuss the details about when they will heal with reference to pulling a muscle, when this is a hope they will almost certainly have had to surrender. Therefore, in my thinking, your comment could unintentionally have been a bit upsetting, although I'm sure that it wouldn't have happened in person and that OP, living with limited mobility, has had little choice but to try and develop a thick skin.. We can do better.
@mothratemporalradio517
@mothratemporalradio517 2 жыл бұрын
@@HighlanderNorth1 so basically, although i think you are wise to contemplate your back health and i would urge you to reconsider work that may permanently injure it, i think there has been a fundamental misunderstanding if I'm not mistaken about the use of the word "broken". It's the difference between being in bed for a week and snapping your spine. Structurally, bone is completely different to muscle and the implications of permanent spinal injury are just in a completely different category to straining a muscle, even if the latter is painful. Importantly, you hopefully have some degree of control over what you choose to expose your back to; that choice is lost to a person who has suffered and survived severe spinal injury. In my thinking, muscular strain would never ever be described as a broken back. The back relies on the spine. You don't break muscle, you break bone, and the implications are very different. i still think it would be good for you to be able to receive appropriate feedback but my suggestion would be that you ideally speak with a physician or if not, visit a forum on back injury, preventing workplace injury to the back including safer lifting techniques and occupational health and safety principles, or perhaps a physiotherapy video that focusses on the back. There's just such a big difference between finding something temporarily painful and having to come to terms with knowing you cannot do something you love ever again. It takes great resilience to manage the latter. The good news though is that even if you've strained your back and need to be careful with it, you haven't broken it, and you therefore do not need to face that process, but it would be considerate to recognise when others have been through it and to understand the gravity of the impact on a person's subjectivity and options. And I'm sure that you have that capacity. Especially because all of us are ultimately one step away from such injury ourselves, especially any time we hop into a vehicle. Our bodies are vulnerable, so please take care with yours and i hope you can find the help that you need for your recurring problem. Edit: although looking back, you do say it hasn't been a problem for at least 14 or 15 years, so.. honestly if it was an actual significant problem, I strongly doubt that degree of relief would be the case, and 1.5 decades of good function following a spell of temporary injury certainly can't be associated with a broken back.
@mothratemporalradio517

Hi Kim, I have commented in the thread and i just wanted to send you my greetings as i was moved by your original comment. i have not broken my back but i can relate to what you are saying. i think some technological changes are not great socially, however, i really appreciate what you mean. It's the next best thing to doing something you love yourself when it's not an option and it's a blessing to have things on the horizon to actually look forward to. i dig your spirit of adventure and how it's survived what you've been through and what a challenge it is to come to terms with certain limits. Although i don't hold my breath, per se, I still hope we'll see technological change in our lifetime that is both affordable and may yet allow people with disabilities and perhaps even long term injuries to get back to an adapted version of things they previously enjoyed. And where the case is there's still a long way to go yet, it's cool to see you and the channel have each other's backs 🧡

Fascinating finds :) Recently found out the coastal area where I live was major megalodon habitat. Looking forward to finding a tooth, now that I know what & where to watch. Curious adventurous local kids are collecting bagfuls of fossil teeth ~ amazing!
