Tom still sings at the same level at 80. He still tours and is a Senior Judge on The Voice UK. This sngg was written for him. He paints picture when he sings. He makes you believe he experienced this.

Tom is from Wales the Welsh are known for having good singing voices they have male voice choirs.he has been a judge on the voice UK since the beginning and sings on there when the audience asks.he's sang with the other judges like Jennifer hudson.he wasn't heartbroken when he sang this song he was married to his childhood sweetheart.the son of the writer of this song Lonnie donagon was on the voice a couple of years ago and they did this as a duet it was emotional as Tom had lost his wife not long before.he had his own show and has sung and become friends with many people like elvis.he had a message on the show from Stevie wonder.all this you can check on KZfaq.

What a fanstatic singer. All the performances, awards, and was married to the same woman for over 40 years. Tom is now 80, and a judge on The Voice U.K. Still can sing. My all-time favorite male singer.

He was 27 years old when he sang this song a Welsh coal miner discovered singing in the local pub

Tom's hometown was a village in a Welsh coal-mining region where many in the village (men of various ages, and youth even as young as 12) worked in the coal mines. Tom's father was a coal miner. But Tom wasn't. He couldn't, due to having tuberculosis as a pre-teen. He had to be isolated at home for two years. Amazing that he has such lung power after such an ordeal with his health early on. Once he reached the age of 15 he started working... doing construction, deliveries, and odd jobs, and working in a glove factory for a time, and he even sold vacuum cleaners door-to-door. Those were daytime jobs, and he needed to work to help his parents and then to support his wife and child (he and Linda married young). But at night and on weekends he sang in the pubs and workingmen's clubs. And then he was discovered, as you said.

Tom is from lovely little Wales, land of song, known for its choirs and also the crowds singing at Wa'es rugby matches. Try Cor Glanaethwy choir singing Benedictus on Britain's Goit Talent, the Morriston Orpheus Male Voice choir singing Myfanwy, the crowd singing the Welsh anthem before Wales v England in 2013 (Wales won 30-3, the anthem played its part)....Tom's slightly older contempory Shirley Bassey has been a fine singer too, and opera singer Bryn Terfel.

This was live on TV to 20million viewers watching the Dusty Springfield Show in the UK. Go and watch his You Tube channel now and see his performances in the 60s on his own TV show with Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Little Richard, Wilson Pickett. Sammy Davis Jr, etc. Sir Tom Jones is a true living legend.

Actually, Tom Jones was most likely never hurt. He married his high school sweetheart, at a very young age, and remained married to her for over SIXTY (60) years, until her death. And he could have probably had any woman alive, in his prime.

Tom Jones was one of my favorites before Freddie came into my life. LOL I have listened to songs like this, without understanding the lyrics. He is over 80 and still touring, but the light of his voice is already frayed, which I am not really surprised at. I want to be as active as he is when I reach 80 years old.

Voice ages, that's what I was thinking about hearing this. I listened to the Tom Jones around the year 2000 when he and the Cardigans collaborated on "burning down the house". I loved it, the song was great, his voice was great, but it wasn't this. This was incredible.

Tom started off as a tenor; now he is a baritone. He had some B5 and C5's in his voice back in his early days through his 40's. He has admitted that he cannot sing that high anymore but he still has the power and his overall tone. Still amazing after all those years.

I don't think it's necessarily that they make amazing music when they're sad. I think some are just great performers. One person may have written it with the deepest feelings but it's the performer who can bring it to life, like here. Tom didn't write any of his music. Including this song, I think he wrote one song for his wife while she was dying. Anyway....good reaction.

If you want an amazing song and perfomance born from divorce and heartbreak check out ABBA's The Winner Takes it All. The lyrics were written by husband Bjorn (guitar) in one night with a bottle of whiskey and then sung by his recently divorced ex wife and fellow band member. It is said she saw the lyrics before recording and cried.
