Thank you next is 100% my favorite album from Ariana XD it came out at literally almost the same time as sweetner (it was the sweetner/thank you next tour because sweetner came out in the summer and then she dropped TYN in January it was wild). It’s also supposed to be a misunderstood song. A lot of people interpret this song about cheating, but I guess Ariana’s main intention behind this song is that she’s actually the girlfriend the entire time and that she’s bored in the relationship and she wants her self back. That’s why the girlfriend looks so similar to Ariana in the video but that is what I’ve heard. The original intention was in people misunderstood it, but the song doesn’t convey it as well as she would’ve liked it too.

The melody and musical parts of this song are great. The *plain meaning* of the lyrics are absolutely horrible, even if the music video reinterprets it. I don't judge Ariana for this, even Avril and Taylor and many others (including many men, I'm sure!) have some not so great songs in their past. But the song's message is still horrible, lol.

But it’s REALLY about Ariana talking to her own boyfriend to break up with HERSELF because she’s bored. She doesn’t wanna be in the relationship anymore
