Audio Imperia is on the way to tackle other sample library companies by keeping it simple yet focused. from Nucleus, Jaeger, Chorus.. still waiting how they'll create woodwind libraries.

Great video, thanks! And yes, your studio looks very cool. Based on your review here, I would say this is exactly the device I've been looking for. So far I haven't been impressed with most expression controllers, which either feel terrible, cause dropouts, or have other limitations. I think I will give this one a try. Cheers!

Aah. A little bit to late. last year I @m looking for a controller like this one. Finally I bought last Christmas ( not the song ;-p ) the Touche controller. Great one. But the possibility of the audio imperia controller to set key switches are a great feature.

I like this controller. It’s quite Moog-esque with its wooden cheeks. Would love to know exactly what brand faders they use and compare this to the Fader Pro (which has a similar price point). If you (or anyone else) has had experience using both, I would love to hear! Thanks for the review. Great video.

Keep in mind this is a Midi Controller to use with Vstis. You can use it with faders etc but they are not automated as they also explain on their website. It is a dedicated Controller for modwheel, expression and all those knobs. If you want a mixing experience with Studio One go to with Faderport.

I'm looking to control Automation lanes in pro tools. Expression, vibrato, pitch bend, etc. Extremely difficult to find any of these MIDI controllers to work with Pro Tools. Will this work with Pro Tools?

All of my CC assignments within FVDE (CC1, CC7, CC11, CC21) are writing as CC1 within my DAW. How to fix that? I'm in Nuendo 13

4 hundred mm faders = 4, one-hundred mm faders, that threw me off at first 😂😂 that would be a super long throw!!

So, it is 4 banks x 4 midi cc presets = 16 cc messages stored, right? It’s not much to be honest. The hardware looks cool and it’s probably very reliable, and I could midi learn easy and fast, but if it’s only 16 cc presets then I’m little disappointed.

This is just what you can do with ONE user preset file. I am not sure about the limit of those but it's probably your hardrive. As far as I heard there will be preset files later for all kinds of libraries.

Very cool CC Controller indeed ! Though let's be honest the price doesn't make it a general public product. It's definitely a luxury product for professional composers.

Just my personal opinion but if I buy something that I want to last for years, is good looking, is small and dedicated, I find it better than spending my money on cheap controllers that don't do what they promise, break or mess more things up than helping me. As said in my video, after all these 15 years, if I would have spent money on fewer, more dedicated and expensive controllers, I would have spend WAY less than I actually have :) Out of curiosity, is Moog also luxury because there is Behringer? I think not :D

@@AlexPfeffer I 100% agree with what you said. I just think we're not talking about the same audience here. You're speaking as a professional composer but as a non professional composers like me and others who doesn't pursue a musical career I just think that 380$ on a CC controller is a lot of money in this case. Not saying the product is not worth its price though ! PS: really enjoy your reviews btw.

As a hobby composer, the price tag is kinda something :) ... however, it always depends on how much you are into music and how you define your hobby, I mean there are people with miniature trains spending thousands on it, haha! :D ... I agree though, during my first years exploring all this stuff, I would was drawing my dynamic curves with the mouse :)

@@paulthiebaut I don't agree. Hobby composers are spending thousands of bucks for sample libraries - but an extremely solid hardware controller that will be useful for ALL libraries you have ever bought should be luxury. I don't think so.

Is it motorized? As in, do the buttons move when you move the channel in your DAW?

You probably should watch the video, because FVDE is not a channel fader, it is a dedicated MIDI CC Controller, so motorized faders are not needed :) I would never like to see a fader up or down on String Ensemble dynamics! :)

Alex, I really appreciate if you can do a long video walking us through all your gears that you're using in your studio and for which purpose each one is assigned to. All these midi surface controllers really confuse me and still don't know what to do with them beyond my KK MK2 S61. And most importantly, I still can produce music with just my KK. I have mod wheel, pitch bend, expression strip, 8 knobs and 8 buttons, transport buttons and NKS, what else do I need more than that? I can learn midi from the faders in the VST and assign them to the knobs, not a big deal ... I can't seem to find a straight answer to this unfortunately except some mockery and funny answers from not so cool online dudes who call themselves composers. I appreciate if you can help me with that. Thanks bro

Sure thing, will do! Thing is, you may have a single screwdriver that basically can do everything you need. Then there are people who have a battery powered screwdriver with hammer/drilling option and maybe another one that you don't have to take off while screwing and going around corners. I love to have dedicated tools that are simple and do the job rather than one device trying to be everything. I can't work like this to have a device controlling my faders and then I need eventually to restart it to use it Midi CC controller etc Hope that makes sense.

@@AlexPfeffer Thanks man, yes makes absolute sense. However, I still don't understand what exactly the jobs that each of these dedicated tools do? OK, the Faderport 8 will be dedicated to control the Cubase mixing console and each channel as well as DAW transport functions. Elgato streamdeck will be dedicated to assign DAW macros to each LCD button to control DAW general functions and many many other things. But what about this red Dave Smith and the other white and blue small devices? don't remember their names And yes, the Arturia is an analog synth, I get that lol 🤔🤔

@@Ahmad-Mounir44 Hey, no Dave Smith here, but a KORG which is an analog synth too. The small devices on the wall are guitar fx pedals. On the desk next to the Faderport I have an Procaster by Rode for my Microphone (I want to have that excluded from the DAW audio in case of crashes or mastering changes etc)

Yeah couldn't you just get a fader port 8 that has 8 mechanical faders that can be used for both cc and channel faders as well as way more buttons to navigate your daw all for 500 dollars?
