Is This The End? Autumn in Our Corner of England. (CORRECTION: I misidentified a newt as a lizard in this video). Summer has left the countryside, autumn is undressing the trees and hedges. It is autumn equinox, half way between the height of summer and the depth of winter. I explore Our Corner of England, what was once an open cast coal mine that is now regenerating and returning to nature. I wander the woods and waterside during the day, surrounded by wildlife, and then I overnight in the thicket cabin during a storm. There is sadness and joy in autumn - and certainty. The certainty that we are on the path to winter..

Lovely Mick. Oh to be in England now that autumn is here. Calm crisp mornings, ripening fruit, the spindle berrys husks in bright pink, fat sparrows on the bird feeders, the occasional red admiral on the fallen apples that the blackbirds have opened...

Thank you Mick. Fall is far and away my favorite season. I am a hunter so it is my time to flourish. I love to watch slow falling leaves, being able to see far through the woods, sit with my bow in hand and feel my pulse quicken as brittle leaves betray the presence of deer and other animals Fall for me, is living.

Another great video Mick . What a wonderful job you do, keeping that area a haven for all the wildlife and plants. Think they are Newts rather than lizards. Not that it takes anything away from their beauty or the fantastic home you've given them. Best wishes

Wonderful way to celebrate Thanksgiving.....Fall here in Ontario is bittersweet....Winter is coming. It will soon be -40°c. However the geese and ducks are peppering the sky. Great to see you making videos again. How is the migratory bird hunting in your region of England?

Thank you! I agree that Fall has a bittersweet quality. Our winters do not compare to yours but I find the dying of the year very thought-provoking, and not always in a good way. Pink-footed geese have arrived in Scotland, wildfowl are on the move - I have friends who are travelling north right now to meet them, but pressures on habitat and steeply declining bird populations in the UK make me personally think hard these days about shouldering a gun on the marshes and shoreline. Maybe, for me, 50+ years hunting is enough.

Here in Ontario. Canadian geese have been removed from the migratory bird act. If your hunting on a farmers field, you can use any means to hunt them. 22lr. Crossbow. Trap. Any means other then poisoning. Unfortunately the predator responsible for keeping the birds in check are being needlessly slaughtered. Coyotes. They are so miss under stood. The goose problem is so bad...You don't even need a license if hunting on private farm land. It's a shame keeping your side by side locked up....If you like....You can send it to me....I'll even pay the postage!

Hammerstone Artifacts Ha! I didn’t say I didn’t use my side-by-side! Canada Geese are considered pest species here being non native and problematic that can be taken year round if conditions of a national ‘general license’ are complied with. CG are not usually of great interest to hunters, migratory pink foots being the species usually most sought after. Enjoy Fall.

A nice tribute to fall. It would have been better if You Tube hadn't stuck four political commercials within the 10 min run. But then again it's fall here in the States too and it's an election year. I know you have no control over it but it just destroy the enjoyment of watching your film.
